    I cannot thank you enough. I am fairly new and this is my first season ever reaching end game content. Everybody already seems to have known what they were doing for 20 years now and it has been exhausting trying to learn all of these dungeons, raids, affixes, and really understand my kit. everybody just keeps telling me to press my buttons harder! The graphic was invaluable and I now see my haste stat is laughably high lol. I am so grateful!!

      You are very welcome, I’m glad it was helpful! WoW definitely has a much higher learning curve than people give it credit, and it’s easy for people who have been playing for a long time to be ignorant of how much there is to learn as a newer player. Consider joining my community discord, we talk about all kinds of priest stuff there and I’m always happy to answer any questions you might have 😀

    Found it just from the regular RUclips search and subscribed after the first 20 minutes. I'm maining healers from MoP and must say that this is one of the most informative and explanatory class videos I came over.

    the serenity macro is working like this: if your cursor hovers over a living, friendly target, it casts the spell on this target, else, it will cast it normally, which results in using it on you as long as you dont have a friendly target selected.
    the first part is this --> [@mouseover,help,nodead] and the second part is this --> []
    if you want is absolutely just casting via mouseover and if you dont ahve a mouseover you only want it cast on you, your macro needs to be modified to this:
    /use [@mouseover,help,nodead][@player] SPELL
    use "/use" instead of "/cast". it will do the absolute exact same thing but saves one letter.
    nice guide. thanks for getting the hang of holy priest after coming back to the game taking a long long break since shadowlands :>

      Serenity or Sanctify? I assume everyone is using mouse over healing, so I don't need a macro for Serenity, but I am curious what his Sanctify macro is... Thanks.

    Fantastic video! Great to see an active, intelligent Holy Priest guide to look to for help going into Season 3! Subscribed! 😊
    Two quick questions, if you don't mind:
    1) Why not just use Clique to handle all your non-edited mouseover casting macros? It would fix your PI issue.
    2) What is your Sanctify macro?
    Thanks!

    • @ragnongaming
      @ragnongaming  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks!
      1) I already had the mouseovers set up, and the Blizzard click interface has worked well enough for me, so I guess it’s an “old dog” issue (same reason I held out for so long moving to elvui). I’ll probably eventually swap.
      2) I’m currently on my phone, but all of my macros can be found on my UI spreadsheet in the description

      @@ragnongaming Thanks! I'll check it out. I never click anything as a healer, except to select an enemy, so Clique has spoiled me, and always works exactly as I want it to. Maybe it's something you could experiment with in case it might help your audience?
      I just found your channel, but I want to reiterate that your guidance in the few videos I've seen so far is some of the best I've ever seen. Thank you. I'll be glued to your channel over the next several months. 😊

      @skipmcilvaine Very true, I might make Clique my first UI improvement in S3; starting to use ElvUI was my UI growth step in S2. I’ve been getting questions about it, so it’ll help to give it a try.
      Thank you so much man, that means a lot and is encouraging! I’m planning to be very fruitful in content production next season.

    Our raid team would like to have a holy priest for the new raid so I figured I would give it a shot. Your video is so informative! Thank you so much for all the work you put into this. This is by far the best video I have seen on Holy Priest. Maybe I missed it in the video, but do we completely ignore the spell renew? I had another player in my guild mention it should be cast more than flash heal so I was a little confused. I am very new to holy priest, so I apologize for the noob question. Crossing fingers that I can pull this off tomorrow night! lol

    • @ragnongaming
      @ragnongaming  9 месяцев назад

      Awesome! I love Holy in raid and I hope you will too 😀. I’m glad you’ve found the video helpful. Yes, you can avoid casting renew. It will show on your healing meters because it is passively applied by lots of other abilities due to our talents, but you won’t actually cast it. Flash Heal will also be low priority, mainly just using the free instant procs and as needed to prevent an immediate death. Most of your focus will be on Sanctify, and using Circle of Healing and Prayer of Healing to get Sanctify back off cooldown. I typed up a comment that I think would be helpful for you as a study guide before tomorrow, let me find it and paste it. Best of luck tomorrow! Please let me know if you have any additional questions and I’m happy to help.

      Relevant reply from another comment:
      There's nothing saying you can't PoH spam outside of Apotheosis procs; if Sanctify/Holy Nova Rhapsody Stacks/Halo/Divine Star are all on cooldown and you aren't using Hymn or Salv there, PoH spam is our best option.
      The mental priority I'd suggest trying would be:
      1. PoM is top priority, it fuels everything
      2. Have good timings for your Hymn and Salv in mind, or follow the healing note in a coordinated group. 2 well-placed Salvs within a fight can make or break your performance.
      3. Don't overcap on Holy Words (as well as 10.2 tier procs)
      4. Use CoH and Divine Star on cooldown. Use Halo as a mini-cooldown if talented. These are all very efficient heals and have little impact on mana, and CoH will a provide a huge amount of your Sanctify CDR. Only briefly save CoH if AOE healing is imminent, or if you are about to get an Apotheosis proc.
      5. Your reaction to heal AOE damage should be Sanctify, Holy Nova if near max stacks, Divine Star, CoH, then PoH spam if there is still healing to be done beyond that.
      6. CoH -> PoH should be your number 1 priority during Apotheosis procs. If this becomes a habit for you, you'll find you have Sanctify for the moments you need it much more often, and will get more casts throughout a fight. You won't find yourself resorting to naked PoH spam as often, and again this is all fueled by clean PoM casts on-cooldown. PoH should only ever be cast within Circle of Healing (you can usually fit up to 5 casts during CoH), it is incredible inefficient and weak outside of CoH.
      7. Serenity and free Flash Heal procs are your main single target healing. The only time you should be resorting to Flash Healing is if someone is going to die without 1-2 immediate heals (use Power Word: Life for this instead of Flash Heal if talented), or if there is a target with a mechanic like a dot that needs priority heals. Although Flash Heal was buffed, it will still drain your mana very quickly and is much less efficient than our AOE heals. If the fight profile demands huge ST healing though, disregard and cast as needed. Never cast Heal or Renew.
      I hope this is helpful, you're probably already doing most of this, but reminders can always help refocus what we should be prioritizing! :)

    what do you want from your power infusion macro? it needs a help component? to shorten and simplify the macro, you can do it like this:
    #showtooltip
    /use [@focus,exists,nodead][@mouseover,help,nodead] Power Infusion
    /use Spoils of Naltharus
    what this will do is cast pi on your focus IF your focus is friendly and not dead. otherwise it will try to cast pi on your mouseover, if your mouseover is friendly and not dead. if you want more conditionals you can add them. for example, if your want a third check, so your pi will be cast on your target, if its friendly and not dead, you would add:
    #showtooltip
    /use [@focus,exists,nodead][@mouseover,help,nodead][@target,help,nodead] Power Infusion
    /use Spoils of Naltharus

      the problem with doing just @mouseover is this: the game will try to use the spell on whatever your cursor is hovering over. if you have an enemy, it still tries to cast it. this might result in errors. also for example, you can have some spells stuck to your cursor. it turns blue then. when trying to ress someone for example. if you have these conditionals, this wont happen since the "spell is stuck"-thing is happening, because your target is not viable to being targetted. so having a clean macro with correct conditionals in it will prevent errors

    • @lokthok
      @lokthok 10 месяцев назад

      @@ragnongaming remember to think about what you want exactly. Usually you would put the mouseover first so you csn „override“ and spontaniously put it on someone. But i guess in your case the macro will work better the way it is. If you set a friendly focus you would just put pi on them and be happy, only using the mouseover if no focus is set

    • @ragnongaming
      @ragnongaming  10 месяцев назад +1

      I didn’t get around to doing raid PTR, but not too much is actually changing for holy’s mana, so I think we are going to be one of the better mana classes , and it will feel a lot like it does now.

      @@ragnongaming I still feel fairly good about Holy in Raid, despite the nerfs. I worry more about Holy in M+ (mana, PUG survivability, and higher key viability), but I thought our mana, in both Raid and M+ was going to be heavily taxed as per Blizzard's stated design changes. Your experience says otherwise? That's good to hear. Thank you!

    • @ragnongaming
      @ragnongaming  10 месяцев назад +1

      @skipmcilvaine I feel fine about Holy in raid too; the nerfs last week to our tier’s proc chance was unfortunate and bring us down a couple notches, but I think we’ll still fill the role of a versatile throughput healer for progression just fine. I think Holy will feel comparable to how it currently is for M+, if not better. It will still have all of the current strengths/weaknesses, but it is gaining a ton more Holy Words, which should feel really good for responsive PUG healing in these early weeks while everyone is learning the new dungeons. To be fair, I seem to have a much more positive view of how Holy plays in keys compared to a lot of people, so take that with a grain of salt. It’ll likely feel similar to how it does currently in keys, whatever that means for you.
      The only notable mana changes I’ve seen for Holy is losing Rashok’s trinket, and Symbol of Hope getting nerfed. Losing Rashok’s stinks for all classes, not just Holy, so we’ll all suffer the same from that loss. Symbol of Hope was already trash for mana because it’s based on missing mana, not max, and we were already benefitting very little from it because it was being used midway through fights for the defensive reset, which means we can’t use it at the end of fights where mana is low and we’d get the most benefit.
      Other than that, our Sanctify will hit one less person, but we’ll still use it in the same way. We’ll have less Answered Prayers procs due to losing our S2 tier which means less Apotheosis windows to benefit from cheaper Holy Words, but we gain extra Holy words with reduced mana cost from our S3 tier so it should mostly balance out.

      @@ragnongaming I'm relieved to hear that, and I appreciate your positive outlook.
      Keys above 17-20 often felt a bit more chaotic - and that I was always trying to catch up - as a Holy (and Disc) Priest but I always enjoyed the adrenaline rush and play style... many, many keys I walked away thinking "I saved those idiots" 🤣 Some other healer specs I found a little less frantic, and didn't really feel like a "hero." So maybe that's a actually plus for Holy. 😊
      I agree about Symbol of Hope and never use it in M+ anyway, and never used it for mana in raid.
      If I was to have my way as a designer post-10.2 nerfs for Holy Priest, I'd give back that 5% PoM healing nerf, make Improved Fade a 1-point talent, make PI longer / faster for the Priest only (not her / his target) and buff Prayer of Healing; maybe just making it instant. Those changes alone would make me extremely happy and excited for S3. Oh, and maybe delete Afflicted...
      Can't wait to see your Holy and Disc guides for 10.2! 😊

      By the way, I actually like the gameplay / skill expression of making sure to choose ranged and melee targets / "packs" for Prayer of Healing, so I'd keep that part of it.
