I visited Marrakech in 2016 and had the same experience! Can’t believe it’s still like that - we had someone throw an orange at us because we bought juice from a different vendor and not him. 😂

Do you think traveling with a your friend who is a man esp a white man is big reason you didn’t experience much racism or do you think it would be the same if it were a girls trip? Asking because this is on my list with my girls but I’ve heard abt the racism so I was unsure.
Thank you so much! I think it is more cultural thing of him being a man than about race. Even If he was a black man I still think he would get more respect than me and they would acknowledge him more than me.
I went last year with my sister. I agree, it's more a cultural thing than racism. As long as you respect the culture and are vigilant, you guys should be fine. Most of the people we encountered were very warm and kind.
Marrakech looks like it's not suffering from covid as bad as the UK is. Ngl, I felt mild anxiety everytime I saw people without masks..which I realise it will be awhile to train myself to look at the world without the covid lense, which in itself is a whole other realisation which makes me sad 🥺☹️..I wish I could see videos without my brain constantly going on autopilot mode like that...beside all my clearly very big issue which I need to work on, this video is beautiful!!❤️❤️ The filter used for editing this video and the previous one BEAUTIFUL!!

Black western people mean black people from Europe and USA... black people from the african continent and the Caribbean have a completely different culture so this wouldn’t be a culture shock to them at all.

@@VaninaElise There are complexitites and nuances to that. The experience of Black Africans and Caribbeans raised on the continents is totally different from those raised in Western diaspora. Even when one travels, Black people are sometimes treated differently based on differing socializations.
