It's good to see someone being sensible and taking their time to learn the track, so many people get out there and try and give 110% too quick and normally go off multiple times or even write their cars off especially on castle combe, a good set of pads will help consistency as normally pads cook way too quick and die off
A very good performance for a starter !! Enjoy the video and when you where driving on the track it almost feel of whe when in the car to !!! And this first experience you will never forget ! Thanks for sharing this first event with us !!
I used to have a dedicated Ford Escort MK2 Mexico as a track car, weighed in at under 900kgs running a big pinto on twin 48's. Used to go to Castle combe a lot and like you say it's very addictive, and great fun. Look forward to the track car build 🙂
I spent a day at Castle Combe driving a Ginetta with the race school. Instructor was a really nice old chap who stood in because the regular guy called in sick. After half a day I thought I was improving then I asked the instructor to do a few laps at the wheel. He confessed he'd never driven a Ginetta before but he ragged this thing round the track to within an inch of its life! Made my attempts feel rather feeble! 😂
I have the mk6 gti engine and AKS does a baffled sump by iABED to stop oil pushing up and mass blowby. I had low oil pressure and balance shaft ate itself at Donington on a long right corner.
I've only been around that track as a passenger in a few cars, but its a great track. Also fun to walk around the pit area and nearby where you can find all sorts of high performance cars, modified cars etc and a lot of the owners are friendly and up for a chat about their car.
Looked a lot of fun. That track is the only one i've ever driven on, some 26yrs ago in my heavily modified Mk4 Escort van, with a ton of stereo in the back! Amazing fun though.
I used to get really bad disc warping on Clio rs200, I have a dedicated fully stripped stage 2 Leon Capra now for track days, lydden hill and Bedford are awesome fun
Please have more confidence in your cars because you are bloody good at what you do and have great knowledge. Loved the track day, will get better with experience
I love the fact you’ve taken an unknown to a track day for your first one after not even testing it thoroughly on the road. I’ve done numerous track days and you definitely want something you don’t mind getting roughed up a bit. Fair play to you though for taking it mate and having a go.
Looks a quick car from inside. Totally different driving experience, twice I nearly binned my Ibiza cupra at Mallory just going from the infield to exit.
This was awesome, you could tell after every lap you were enjoying it more, I've never done a track day before so watching you was really insightful, will we be seeing upgrades? Brakes etc
Love the mk7 I don’t think you should part with it as you said in one of your videos, the first car you have ever modified under the bonnet! Do more and more and promote your channel with the mk7 at more track days!
We run a 20 year old scooby in a couple of track championship series. You deffo need to keep at it, great fun, even when the car shits 2nd gear 😁 Go on get the mk5 sorted.
Hi mate have you had car setup and tuned and on the rollers because you keep claiming 500bhp but can you prove it you should mention this on your channel
I've seen a lot of Golf's racing at Castle Combe and the front wheel (just one) always comes off the ground on bends. I would love you to have said how fast you were going
It won’t, as the only thing that doesn’t need doing on the mk7 is power, everything else needs upgrading, whereas the mk5 I wouldn’t go as big power, maybe 350, but concentrate on weight reduction, suspension and brakes.
Buy yourself a kit car like a Caterham not much to go wrong apart from the engine so will be cheaper on maintenance in the long run smaller wheels cheaper tires
A rolling road session would be good to get an accurate figure , I’d love to do a track day . I’m glad your wearing a sensible full face helmet. Cracking video 👍🇬🇧
Hi from durham dean👋👍 great show for your first go on track mate you did well and maybe few mods like brembos and find the solution to smoke 👍 10 laps is better than 3 like you first said👌 but well done and you had fun getting quicker with comfort👌 thanks for your time and be safe see you soon👍👋
Thanks!

Well done mate, I was nervous for you whilst waiting at the gate to go on track. Looks fun.

The only tip I would give you is - two hands on the wheel at all times (unless changing gear). Looks great though.

Nice one mate - trackdays are awesome fun and everyone should try it

The mk5 makes sense as a track car glad you enjoyed it 👍

Brilliant content as usual Dean. It looked quick, sounded really nice.
Top job for first time!, great vid some nice motors there👍🇮🇪
Castle Combe is my local track and it’s always a great place to go!
Awesome! You should take all your builds to the track to test them out. I am sure it was lots of fun. The Golf como as fast.

Speak to David Boor at Team Hard Racing they build up mk5 golfs to peoples specs pretty sure they’ll help you build yours
10 laps is great Dean , well done 👍🏻 and you can ever have too many bags of Crisps for the long drive home 🤔, no WHY FOOD 😂.
@claura I agree completely 🤔😂
Well done mate car look good, look like it was handling well👍🏾 just need to sort out the brakes and maybe oil catch can
Looks awesome, great piece of driving... now change the brakes and brake fluid and go again! 😊
now this content is awesome! thx dean great stuff
Savage, this channel just keeps getting better and better..well done man
Yeah do that plan converting the MK5 Golf GTI into a track car well when it is all sorted out after the MK7 Golf is sold 👍🏽
Good 1st run out in the GTI,. Get the Merc and get that crazy beast out there to compare and enjoy!
Think you ought to edit your "no hands" driving technique on public roads out lol
I thought he was about to reveal he was on the back of a transporter given the length of time he drove with no hands on the wheel 😉
Green screen guys, was stationary the whole time 😃
Looking forward to some more track content awesome 👍
Great content I like the idea of making the mk five a track car hope you've got deep pockets I'm told it's really addictive good luck
Nice one, a great extension of the usual content, mend the car, test the car.
Did you consider taking the R8?
Speak to VRS in Northampton - they will help with sorting out the oil surge problem.
Defo more track days maybe in now the s3 once it’s done 😊
Looked a great day out, you should have taken the R8 though !!,
Well done mate, Great stuff.
Great idea with the Mk 5 👍👍👍
Once you sort the surge issue, very common! Stick some RS3 front callipers and updated discs and pads on it………that will make it stop better
Try CC in the wet?! Great vid. Thank you
i loved it....looking forward for the next track day maybe the MERCEDES C63
Forgot which brakes are on it? What discs and pads are you running?
Sell the mk7! I’d love to see you build a proper track car. I’d also like to see you take the r8 round the track 😉
yeah the sale of the mk7 will easily fund the parts for the mk5 track upgrade brakes first my boy 👍
Love ur videos bro keep doing them🙏🙏
Fit a baffled dump to stop oil surge / starvation whatever car you decide on for track use.
It is addicted ain't it:) Sounds awesome to track build the MK5
so the canon m100 footage didn't make it, curious how that looked...
Surprised they let you on with 2 things only suctioned to the screen, Oulton park wouldn't let you on unless fully secured.
We run a 20 year old scooby in a couple of track championship series. You deffo need to keep at it, great fun, even when the car shits 2nd gear 😁 Go on get the mk5 sorted.
The engine sounded fine on the track. Shows you need good brakes though.
This lad will have his own show on DAVE HD or QUEST HD before we know it 😂
Easy now 🤣
😅
Take us on the journey of getting, fitting out and track daying a car.
Even though my car is not built for racing, I would still love to take it on a track day.
What did the car top.out on?
great video Dean 👍
What? You didn't bring the R8?
Hey love the video!!! Please take the R8 next time.
You need to get the R8 on track! Nice one.
Car sounds well 👍
Love the video today was awsome and you should defanatily do a track car from the mk5
Track days are addictive. What about a kit car like a caterham and building it for content too?
'Why haven't I done this before!' said every track day first timer.. Yes it is addictive.
Great video!! Make the Golf MK5 the track car.
Do it. Convert it. That would make a good video series
Crack on with the mk5, not always about the fastest lap... low £.imput and big smiles... 😁😁😁
My suspension wouldn’t be hard enough for that. It was my first time on a track and in the golf. So deffo wasn’t pushing anything
Do it turn it into a track car, lots more content on the build plus track days.
Catch can or baffled sump?
Great video go for it with the mk5 enjoy it
Suggest you do your numbers. It may cost you more to get the mk5 to be as competitive as you already have the mk7.
It won’t, as the only thing that doesn’t need doing on the mk7 is power, everything else needs upgrading, whereas the mk5 I wouldn’t go as big power, maybe 350, but concentrate on weight reduction, suspension and brakes.

Well driven Dean
Love the honesty 👍🏽😁😁
absolutely make the Mk5 into a track car 🎉
Great video mate 👌
That was a little unfortunate you seemed to be having a really good time
I love racing at CC on the bike. Flat out on that start finish right hander. Such a blast. Glad you enjoyed it on 4 wheels. 👏👍💪💥
More track day content would be awesome 😎.
A rolling road session would be good to get an accurate figure , I’d love to do a track day . I’m glad your wearing a sensible full face helmet. Cracking video 👍🇬🇧
Never been on track, no car I dare to demolish. Seems like u could have come out of the turns a lot quicker, just seem like it to us?
You did great 👍🏽
Nice one pal what about a mk2 golf gti 16v as track car my mate had one 👍
Quite funny watching the amount of dead bugs on the windscreen just keep increasing
Mk5 or 6 is definitely the way to go
If you are going to get a dedicated track car you'd be best of doing something rwd imo. Watch out, it's addictive!
Durham? Sweet, grew up and lived in the area myself
That was very nice 💪
That made a change, enjoyed it. Please check video again you may want to edited the end.😊
What did I do? 😬
@@SavingSalvage hands off steering wheel.😉
Track day went well. End if video - look, no hands!!
As if nobody has never done that before ?? Glad you enjoyed yourself it is very addictive 😀 more POWER lol
@@davehillier4827 LOL ?? Hhmm.....
MK5 FTW!!!
Need more track day vids 👍
great video shame you cant bring the amg out
That's a fast GTI should of defo done the breaks
Defo do a full track car on the mk5
Ah-ha, the racing bug has bitten! 😜 Sell the mk7 and convert the mk5 to a dedicated track car. That would make good content for your channel.
It sounds good
When you keep upgrading horse power …..don’t you need to upgrade the brakes ? 👍
Yes you do, I didn't expect to be tracking the car though haha
Good video
BMW M3 for a track car!
Chassis are perfect for the track.
Yes track the MK5....then we will get some serious content on it rather than it sitting in the corner 🤣
