There is a track that runs from Peter House Farm to Skiddaw House that the owners use for vehicle access.

We walked Cumbria Way two weeks ago. Cooler weather with some showers. After the mine we took a vague path directly to Lingy Hut. Very steep but easier underfoot. We found this route last year when we walked north to south in terrible weather!
People we saw at the hut had the same thoughts as you .

Thanks for watching! There was a chap behind me at the mine but he ended up ahead of me at the end, i think he may have taken the route you found too. I was definitely surprised how difficult that section was compared to the rest! My pack isn't heavy, i haven't weighed it if im honest but i usually just have some changed of clothes and some meals, so probably not much heavier then a daypack 😊
