To tell you the truth I’m using Coated Diplomat but that has been used for years. It’s almost dead and sounds better with higher tensioning, obviously that’s the only way to make it sound better. But as you can hear on the original soundtrack, Buddy’s tom is tensioned lower. That’s why I tensioned this dying diplomat low.
@@MrCrazyGasMaskMan Through my Sennhieser 280 pro headphones. Those toms sound nothing like my toms, and i use an ambassador coated top and bottom. Sometime i switch the bottom heads with clear diplomats, for a bigger sound. You see rich used those coated diplomats top and bottom, because he didn't use separate mics on his drums!

Gotta love the Slingerland Set. I'm biased of course, a big fan. I have the same set, with two 16x16 FTs. of course 9x13, 14x24. Have the Cannister Throne as well, set was one of Barrett Deems, An Endorser Set.
Have you put together a big band and played live? There are so many tribute bands these days (I have been in a few myself) I think you should consider doing a Buddy Rich tribute; I know it would be a challenge to assemble all those musicians and get them to rehearse etc....but think about this: You resemble the late, great Bruce Lee and one time Buddy Rich was asked if he was reincarnated and could come back as anyone who would he come back as and he said Bruce Lee so now this would be like Bruce Lee coming back as Buddy Rich!
I met Buddy and watched him play many times, you've got it down kid!

Must be using coated Emperors on the Toms! They sound DEAD! Buddy used coated Diplomats so his drums would project!

Yeah, it’s not very frequent but I do play in the big band sometimes. You can find some of the clip of us!
