David Hasselhoff singing Looking for freedom at Berlin Wall 31 december 1989. Firecracker almost hits David at 3:22. - Видеоклипы
This guy is crazy. He performed when the Berlin wall went down and saved Bikini Bottom from Plankton. What a man
How about when soviet union collapse?
No one will ever be as cool as David hasselhof singing "I've been looking for freedom" during the fall of the Soviet Union.
i remember watxhing this live i was 22 years old and from Northern Ireland where we started building walls to seperate Catholics and Protestants from killing each other. Hasslehoff vouced how Germany and possibly the rest of the world wanted. And he was cool, calm and a big voice to us all.
I would make a Black and Tans joke but... raaaa
Oh Please some asshole will try to do it with Trump's Wall and think they doing great not knowing Drug dealers and illegal immigrants keep going to the US from Mexico. Stop feeling sorry for those sinful people and let them get arrested or executed.
@aboomination
It did and be grateful it happen
aboomination WTF Russia ? This is the Berlin Wall 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is quite possibly the most 80's thing I've ever seen.
the video should be from 1 jan 1990 somewhere around 0.30 am 👍
it was new year eve after fireworks
No actually it's at least 80s sing I've ever seen. He was famous in Germany and only Germany LOL
...and the last.
How's the jacket....hahaha, full 80's stylez right there!!
@@usfanlovesjiwoo1978 Yea like Baywatch and Knight Rider was only popular in Germany
Took all the power stations in East Germany to power that jacket didn't it?
but that was in west-germany
Jonas H. Yes, I was being sarcastic ;-)
+theredraven No it was just in the middle of East and West...
Gonzo Gonzilio Yeah it was kind of a joke comment.
+theredraven we know but it isn't correct
I dunno what is the greatest bit of this video,
the fact hasselhoff is singing at one of the biggest world wide events of the 80's
the fact he's singing it off a cherry picker
His light up jacket is incredible and so is the scarf
The way someone nearly hits him with a firework
Or when he puts the mic to the crowd to sing along around 2:48 mark and realizes that he's miming and quickly brings it back.
It's just a fucking great video, some get Hasselhoff a beer! Or maybe don't
This is the funniest comment I have ever read on here. I want to thank you for making me laugh so hard. This video is a trainwreck, which makes it so wonderful.
I love the hoff since the 80s of knightrider and 90s of baywatch
I was born in 1986 I was 1 year old in 1989 of December 31 the knocking down of Berlin wall
+5tonney Dude who cares, the wall went down, that's it
that must have been one long year man, if you were born in 86 and turned 1 in 1989
Some say that firework was thrown by a young Vladimir Putin.
jorge cabrera lol putin fanboy is mad
Hilarious!
***** It was obviously young Obama
jorge cabrera It wasn't Putin.
Putin was wrestling a bear that night in nothing but his Y-fronts- or so the Russian press reported
Shut up right now thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard
Epic. Step aside Superman, The Hoff and his jacket have business to attend to. What a guy.
Hasselhoff was the man in Germany and many no 1 hits these years, so for germans it must have been huge that he played this night at the wall.
Yeah and you was a The really Pussyt Hidden under the bed sure
Looking for freedom was his only number one hit in germany tho
What a way to end the 1980's!
For a people who had lived in such oppression, who had lived like prisoners in their native land for so long like the East Germans, this song must have really hit home.
To quote Norm McDonald on SNL... "Germans... Love... David Hasselhoff!"
Humanity at it's finest. Long Live The Hoff
this video doesnt show the whole story of him being up in this crane for month constantly blasting his music at the GDR untill they finally surrendered
On a scale on 1 - 10 how high are you because that never fucking happened.
Ruex alternative facts
Apparently, the two commenters above have never seen a joke before.
@@4600norm hahahahahahahahaha
@@4600norm Exactly! Come on!
What a magic moment. First New Years Eve as a reunited country...
No matter what's been said about Hasselhoff, this performance suits the situation. We germans were just happy being a whole country again.
Btw. I like his jacket *__*
This is solid gold. No less than that.
David Hasselhoff doing acapella : GOLD !
I need that jacket.
And this song just makes me happy.
some boutique needs to sell that jacket
I didn't know he even sang music, but damn this was one hell of an event to belt out such a song great job David
I shook his hand once at a Knight Rider special premier he held just after shooting the pilot to the series he is a great fellow.
Cheers all
David is a real German Hero.
@OLLE Sävlind W Shut up commie. Germany united and capitalist. Fuck communism.
David Hasselhoff is of German, Irish and English descent and family Roman Catholic.
Dear people of Germany U____U , you should be proud of this extreme act of kitsch culture. It's one of my top "nonsense moments". The massively important historical context, the venue, the safety hazard, all clashing with the piano scarf, the jacket with light bulbs, that slight delay in turning up the volume of the pre-recorded track when he starts singing. And on top of that: you can tell that he's fucking enjoying every second of it! XD
We are proud xD
I can see myself just to the left of David's shoulder. Great night, when my son was conceived. LOVE ITTTTT
the HOFF is a national treasure
It's funny that before this was seen in UK and USA, David was seen as really boring. But the germans loved him and he had fanclubs everywhere. So when this is shown Hasselhoff is given another chance and has been living off of it ever since!
Basically this is what the 80's was all about!
You must not be a product of the 80s are you?
flashing jackets and freedom, we could do with a little more of one of them today... I will let you decide witch.
@@maddslothii2532 Both tbh
We havent had such a historic moment/ level of optimism in the world since this moment in 1989. The end of the Cold War, the end of communist oppression, the wonderful 80s that made us and led to technology and pop culture at its best, the great Reagan years that help us transition into the booming 90s. The world needs something like this again, no more terrorist attacks, no more wars, no more political divisions, no more recessions, just feel good economy booming/ people loving optimism like in 1989.
2020
3:20 anyone else noticed The hoff dodge a firework by pure luck!
It was not luck, it was god :)
With all the positive energy he was putting out it wasn’t luck it was the will of god
David Hasselhoff should sing this song again once the coronavirus has ended!!!!
There's no wall stopping you from doing anything. It's not about Covid, it's about COMPLIANCE. Ironically the people behind Covid are the same people The Hoff was against. Go figure.
@@redthunder238 ah a conspiracy theorist
Lol government just don't want to blame you for increasing cases that's why restrictions exist. And if economy and the whole world opens and COVID is still up, people will die and you'll still blame the government. There is still freedom. But if you're talking about the masks. Don't go out and you can have your no mask life.
When the wall came down it was a day when freedom won. But when David Hasselhof started singing on cars they were putting the wall back up
I just can remember that historical night :-) I was sitting in front of the TV as a kid watching this guy *lol*
It's one of these moments you'll never forget and always will remember! :-)
We need more moments like this in Europe at the moment ✌️ 🕊️
he sang live aswell...not many singers can say they sing live...plus ontop of the berlin wall...legend
This was so emotional . I remember seeing families from either side crying and hugging each other as they finally met after all those years .
They cried because of Hasselhoff's awful performance
@@MrRazorblade999 says you
What a way to top off the 80’s. Hoff in a light up jacket on top of the wall performing.
Honestly a beautiful moment in time when the wall came down
I need a jacket like that!
I'm with you.I need that jacket so bad
Spike Spiegel you haven't seen chris jericho's jacket
If that jacket doesn't man you up, then nothing will! Power jacket!
I was 12 and I remember watching this on tv with my mother in west Germany
even after 30 odd years this still brings a tear to my eyes.
Ah, you kids today with your techno music. You should enjoy the classics, like Hasselhoff.
ironically enough the techno scene in Berlin was as much a symbol of reunification as hasselhoff.
We need to get you some new tunes ;)
has no one understood this comments reference?
Don't read me k that’s what Lucio says after rein says his line
I wonder if this is in Germany's history books about how the Berlin wall came down and there is a picture of the Hoff singing.hmmmm
Isaiah De Simone no, when he was singing actually the people where free to travel for 2 month. So he was just a performer and no freedom fighter. Nevertheless very inspirational. ;)
In 50 to 60 years time kids at school in history class are going to learn about David Hasselhoff, which means they will have to watch night rider, and have to listen to David Hasselhoff‘s music just to explain why David Hasselhoff is singing on the Berlin Wall while Germany unites for the first time in over 40 years, and kids are gonna have to write about this.
I totally FORGOT about this!! 😲😲😲Probably because I was ONLY 9 yrs old at the time!!! 👱THANK YOU for uploading it!!!!!! 💓💞😻🙏😻We NEED an HD version of this!!!!!!!🤩🤩
This was the moment when the Germans realized they wanted to put the wall back up, but it was too late...
+PufferBluntman good joke :D but i thing noone want wall back in reality even if there singing Justin Bieber :D
MrLazynko that's why this type of joke is called exaggeration.
Or hyperbole.
Deathbrewer same thing
How dare you. Hasselhoff is a national treasure!
Ein schönen Tag der Deutschen Einheit euch allen
OMG!!! 2022 I finally found this😳😳😁😁I was there❤️❤️❤️❤️

That nigga dodged that fire work like the Matrix in slow motion
Things David hasselhoff has done:
Tore down the Berlin wall
Saved spongebob and Patrick
I can't tear my eyes away from this!
David Hasselhoff, Illuminated Leather Jacket, Piano-Key Scarf, Berlin Wall on the eve of Reunification:
This is the most 1980's thing that ever happened.
dat jacket. dat scarf.
This song was a cult hit in underground DDR.
Just like Die olsen bande.
I remember we watched this in 8th grade social studies and everyone thought the teacher was joking when he said The Hasselhoff performed at the Fall of the Berlin Wall
This is so wholefully and beautiful
It was Providence that made him bow down at 3:22 :D
God certainly protected him that night, but I think some idiot in the crowd threw the firecracker *because* Hasselhoff leaned down and they wanted to see it go just over his head
Nothing is more important than David Hasselhoff, get your priorities right.
Dany Serf You mean the town in Rhode Island where Howard Philips Lovecraft was born?
Blimey! that rocket just missed his head at 0:58
Only just realised this was a huge hit 6 months before the wall came down. Considering its subject, how timely!
Never fails to put a smile on my face. Hon the Hoff
No wonder the wall fell down.......... The wall could not stand this noise :D
LOL. So true.
This music is so happy, why do you hate it? In nothern European countries, netherlands, germany etc. We have alot of this kind of music. The Germans call it Släger.
@@Max-is4qu No , we call it Schlager.
Thanks - I've always wondered why it was that the Germans were supposed to have a thing about David Hasselhoff (and I was completely unaware of his singing career until now - thought he was just Knight Rider!)
He was also Nick Fury agent of SHIELD, a life Guard on Bay Watch and a Detective on Bay Watch Nights.
Glorious, heroic, amazing and that's just the jacket
This is absolute gold...
All i hear is "I've been Fucking for Freedom" ROFL!!!
...and now that is all I can hear too! !!
We must give full credit to David Hasselhoff for uniting east and west germany !
I was 9 when the wall came down and the thing I remember most about it was David Hasselhoff singing from the top of the wall.
How freaking cool is that!! Man!
The brutal wind of change ;-)
wow I can’t believe David Hasselhoff tore down the Berlin Wall
I enjoyed each of the 5 pixels in this video.
We sure did, and I still have a soft spot for it. Great song and a great time. :)
Hasselhoff freed East Germany, never forget...
Ich will die Jacke haben.
Great sound in this video...
Got goosebumps in 2019. What a magical moment.
Greetings from the future!
Bet you thougt it couldnt get worse than 19, huh?
Freiheit ist die Möglichkeit auf Möglichkeiten zu verzichten, inklusive diese Möglichkeit.

;-D
David should do a North Korea Remix and tear down that wall too! Just imagine...giving freedom to another people!
Just a great moment! Thanks Dave! Or, danke, Dave! Das ist wanderbar!
Remember this day well. Went for the Hasselhoff concert, stayed because some wall or something was being knocked down
CAPITALISM HAS ARRIVED
I was thinking excatly the same...but not back in the days...those days The Hoff was my hero. :D
Chuck Norris tore down the Berlin Wall but Hasselhoff took all the credit
An amazing event in history. I remember this time. Freedom!
Yes, it topped the charts in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
i hope they invite him to the 30 years anniversary to the german unification day
He is landing again in Germany hahaha

I love the hass he is so good
The moment that East Germany realised they had made a dreadful mistake...
leather jacket powered by Arduino
I was 5 years old when the Wall came down.
Atemberaubender Moment!!👍🏻🇩🇪
*insert joke about building a new wall to keep The Hoff OUT of East Berlin here*
Is he or music really that important to make comments on ridiculous
Ah, the good ol' days, back before I had a television in my bedroom. I was 14 when this on-air nightmare happened but the fun part is..I didn't even know Hasselfoff performed there (also I had no idea this song existed) until yesterday. Frankly, I could have died without ever seeing this video and I would have been totally ok with that.
Love the jacket!
It´s fucking playback :-(
#Brexit
Un momento épico sin duda!!!
A tv még nem adja.. de ELKEZDŐDÖTT A KONCERT... A TÖMEG ŐRJÖNG!!!!
We should make this big in 2022
Super gemacht !
Loving the jacket.
Love the Jacket!!!
