This is how I learned to work on internal combustion engines.
A hack screwed me about 15 years ago and I spent the next 18 months after that teaching myself not to rely on a hacks.
Almost nobody will ever care about your stuff like you care about it. The sooner you learn that the better off you will be in life.
I own a 150cc Ice Bear trike. I had the cam reground and bought new springs.
Milled about .010 thousands of an inch off the head, changed the sprockets, installed a custom exhaust and increased my ground clearance 3 inches.
It hits about 75-80 mph on flat highway and I couldn't be happier.

I bought my yamaha aerox 50cc 2stroke as none runner and spent over 8K on it. I only take my scooter in for MOT and I always tell them, if anything needs replacing, CONTACT me first as I know what parts I want and NEED. I would never get a general scooter mechanics shop to work on a highly tuned scooter, 9/10 times they have no idea what they're doing. I am 30 years old now and been maintaining and rebuilding my own scooter for 6 years or so, super happy that I took the time learn how to do basic maintenance to full blown bearings, crank seals, top/bottom end building. electrical I am pretty decent, but not fully there...I get my friend to do most of that if I need it.

I have a 49cc Honda ruckus with an intake, exhaust, ncy cdi, ncy coil, polini variator, dr pulley 5.5 gram sliders, ncy drive face, ncy oil decompression tube, bigger jets in stock carb, and a bunch of aesthetic mods. No big bore kit still 49 cc stock internals but mine tops out at 56 downhill and can hit 50 consistently on the flat. They had to have really messed your bike up and ran things backwards for that 90cc to only hit 38mph I would think that should go around 60 with that setup. When upgrading the cylinder and piston to a bigger bore than 47mm, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you replace the crankshaft with a much stronger one like a Naraku HD crank. The GY6 139qmb overseas run the 72cc cylinder from factory no problem it’s when they come to the US they need to have a minimum displacement of 49cc. When i got the 47mm BBK and upgraded the transmission with full performance parts with a quality carb i ran the scooter HARD for 6 months straight as a daily. Anything above 47mm or 72cc is a ticking time bomb. Other than that, these engines are extremely reliable if the oil is changed very frequently.
Watching further into the video it’s absolutely astonishing that so many thing’s were wrong when they installed the BBK..

You are 100% correct. I was told that the QMB139 engines are actually built on an 80cc platform. I did the 80cc upgrade. Huge difference. I was told 80cc is as high as you want to go. 100cc runs too hot. That’s just what I read from other people. The 80 kit gets me to 40-45 no problem but that’s about where it tops out. Allows me to at least keep up with traffic. The 50cc was able to get to 42-43 but man, what a struggle to get there. Now that I have the 80 on it, I’m enjoying the extra power and I’m also coming to realize that’s actually as fast as you want to go on a moped. 😂😂😂

Out the box will push around 50-55mph, where as you gotta spend $500+ in parts to get a 50cc to do 55mph. Even then might blow engine with that big bore kit cause 50cc engines have weak cranks.

A valve spring broke and bought a brand new motor from Rollingwrench, damn thing wouldn't start, got it to start with drill ran like a raped ape, Burned through starters .Now my final try will be putting new head on stock 49cc, stock manifold carb etc.

    • @GhettoWrench

My CV carb has an accelerator pump. Never would have guessed these tiny carbs had that. That pump barely works when I twist the throttle, but I can push that pump rod down with a screwdriver a few times and spray gas into the carb. If I do not do that it will never start and just run the battery down and eventually burn up the starter for sure.

I have no what idea what RPM I am running and fear trying to get more RPM with the roller weights as I think the valve springs may fail like yours did as they seem to be the same springs and not "performance" ones.

That's a fact. Just fun cause I can drag race it in my driveway and do top speed runs wothout ever getting a ticket. LOL. Did you see this one now? Doing 53mph. Faster than both my 150s when I got them. The 150s need mods too. All these maddogs are slow.

Not all of them are. Surprisingly I kinda depends where you buy from. Two of my friends have maddogs. One has had 0 problems so far and the other has had carb issues and a bad tire from the factory. Both had less than 200 miles on them. Of those two owners one also bought the Chinese grom as well. 0 problems so far on both his scooters.

For someone who does this as a hobby...u seem to know allot and have good camera footage and editing tools to label the mistakes..don't know your end game but you're definitely are not the person or have the lack of knowledge you seem to portray but nice try

Didn't know I was trying to potray lack of knowledge. I have tons of knowledge in the DIY engine arena as an old gearhead, but these are my 1st small engine toys. I use a gopro 9 , quick and Wondershare to make videos. End game; to keep people that are not gearheads from getting ripped off at Boca Scooters. LOL
