It depends. If you are doing it proclaim who the real gospel and Jesus is then that is what we are called to do. If it's just to win an argument and not out of love to save then no.
When I first heard JMacA on tape media many years ago, I resisted some of his theology. Through checking the source and listening to the exposition of Scripture by many others, my discernment grew, the Truth became more and more evident and I realized the value of sound Bible based Doctrine. Dedicated lives such as John's with unshakeable faith and integrity in pursuit of Christ have led me to solid ground. Thank you brother John for providing light to a lost world.

Awesome wisdom! Sometimes Christians want micro-wave theological answers instead of digging deeper for the truth. While social media has its place, it can sometimes defeat the purpose of searching/studying the scriptures (Acts 17:11, 2 Timothy 2:15) because it goes off on rabbit trails that can stroke the flesh.
Tried it with an old friend this last week, he seems to be a dishonest skeptic. So I said ultimately I cannot argue you into the kingdom of God. He’s into these Emerald Tablets. I said Only The True and Living God can reveal truth to you
Just imagine Dr. MacArthur wasting hours on end engaging in heated arguments in the comment section, some of which are just trolls. Fortunately he is wise enough not to take the bait. This is excellent advice. I certainly have spent too much time arguing with strangers online.
I agree and I would also say that us Christians shouldn’t debate with a non-Christian. Give them the message of the gospel and move on. Only the very experienced and knowledgeable can debate.
I’m trying to do better about this. It’s hard not to want to defend the gospel from skeptics but I find they are usually dishonest trolls and I’m wasting my time. I’m trying to whittle it down to the gospel. God can use anything to reach them if it’s his will.
