    To be fair, as someone who loves XC2, it does take a while to find its stride. Once most of the battle features are unlocked, it's a blast, though, and the story gets wild.

      My first Xenoblade game is 3 which I quit. However I recently picked it back up and thought to myself what a Masterpiece of a game. Currently on chapter 4 Hard mode. I can honestly say the story telling alone is nothing I ever experienced before not including the boss battles. I believe everyone who's played any Xenoblade from beginning to the End has gotten something special to experience. Nintendo Switch 2 is going to be bonkers for a game like Xenoblade with it's epic scope!

    XC2 was my foot in the door with JRPGs too, and has led to finding my favourite games and series. The game itself is one of my all time favourites, I also played it while staying in during the pandemic of 2020 and have been chasing the high of this game's story ever since it's so so good.
    The music of XC2 is also my favourite in the series, the area themes are so beautiful and well composed, Torigoth night and day are my favorites, while Kigndom of Uraya is enchanting.

      @@icecreamorc That's an interesting way to put it lol, I definitely know I missed out on a lot of references in 3, but overall 3 felt somewhat separate from the others. Currently playing Future Redeemed though and I have a feeling that links them together more. 1 is definitely my least favorite overall and I'm not sure if that's due to the order I played them in or just personal preference.

      @@mewichigo3410 Firstly, hope you enjoy future redeemed! And honestly glad to hear 3 was still enjoyable without full context of 1.
      I honestly love Xenoblade 1's story and characters but it has the roughest combat and side content due to it just being the first entry in that part of the series and them figuring stuff out. I hold that entry high up personally because it's what sucked me into the entire franchise but can totally see why it would be anyone's least favorite especially if they started with 2 like a lot of folks or even 3 in some folks cases.

    As someone who was already a fan of the first Xenoblade when this came out, I'll admit that it took a while for even myself to get into it. I got the game when it came out and tried playing it multiple times, always restarting after taking super long breaks away from it. But around my fourth attempt, I believe, I decided to finally commit to playing it after one of my best friends, who wasn't super into JRPGs (and still mostly isn't, aside from this series), told me how much he loved the game when I let him borrow it and that he'd played through the game three times over the span of the couple months he had my copy.
    And when I finally started progressing through the plot and reached that ending, it blew me away. So much incredible philosophy, such wonderful characters, and of course, the brilliant music and combat. It all culminated into being such a fantastic experience. I love all four Xenoblade games so much.

    A few years ago I was searching some switch game to buy simply to throw along soemthing else I was buying internationally. Had zero knowledge of xeno. Saw some images, and thouhgt, hey this looks nice, there go 60 dollars on a game I never even heard of before. Fastforward > I fell in love.
    Precisely as said in the video the cast of characers feel real, they're so well done, and by the time you finished your journey, is as if you had been there with them all along. They have incredible and varied buildings, each bringing something different to the cast, and you care for them. The emotional moments are so strong and they hit you right in the feels, masterfully enhanced by one of (if not THE) best OSTs ever. This game made me cry again, and again. It broguht me places I didnt know existed, made me feel things I had never felt, and I loved it. . . . And then Torna...oof....damn...these guys sure know where to punch.
    Later I played te XB1 and, while the emotional impact wasn't as strong, man oh man the story is something else. Probably the most ambitious, incredible plot i've had the pleasure to experience. The mysteries, the twists, the reveals, the unexpected, the layers, the whole scale of it all, the masterfully crafted world...it's magnificent. And right when you think everything's said and done and it can't get better, the ending yet again throws you off and it's simply sublime.
    XB3 tbh didn't pack quite the punch to me personally. After the life-changing experiences 2 and 1 were, 3 simply didn't hit me that hard. It was and is nonetheless one of the best Jrpgs ever and love it too ofc. And in the end, even if I don't have some grandiose praise for it, it's fun as heck and an absolute joy to play.
    I can only say I'm grateful having had the chance to experience these masterpieces of art.

    I played it in the beginning of this year, literally the first thing I did this year was playing this game at 1/1/24 00:00, to start the year well right?
    I already loved Xenoblade 1, played it twice on Wii, it made me start to enjoy Jrpgs, the first time playing I just liked the game enough to go until the end even though it was complicated to me who didn't even understand english then I played in Spanish that is a language closer to my language, portuguese, and all the mechanics took a long time to understand, and in the end I had to grind a lot and the game was so long, I had never played a game for 80+ hours but I did it with Xenoblade. In the end it wasnt the best game of my life but was a really good experience, in the next year it released Xenoblade 3 and I played 1 again, this time I absolutely fell in love with the game and was understanding english better, I cried at the emotional scenes even though I already knew what would happen. Then I became fanatic with Xenoblade, was supper hyped for 3, beated Xenogears, and in the end of 2023 I finally got my Switch and was able to play another game in the franchise, that is Xenoblade Chronicles 2. In 2022 I was more wanting to play 3 before 2 because 3 "is better than 2", havent played Xc3 to have a opnion yet but I got a bad impression of 2 because of the video of the astronaut (sorry I forgot the name) but in the end... I absolutely fell in love with Xenoblade 2 and it is as good or even better than Xenoblade 1 in some aspects, until now this is a game that doesn't go out my head, and all the Lore it introduced, Xenoblade 1 is even better now, the franchise, I love how they connect with eachother, chapter 10 was the moment of my life, PEAK FICTION.
    And the gameplay in Torna is really good, until now it is still fun to play making sidequests, knowing better the world and making some hard battles 👌

    P.S.
    2 is the best since it balance character development with world building is funny and serious when it need to, it a hero's journeys. 1 is a story of revenge so is serious all the time(still good is just so serious). 3 is a story of war so as you can imagine is a sensible topic so is also to serious still great is a story of hope and fight again despair for the future and freedom.

I started with Xenoblade 2 cause when it was announced on a nintendo direct I saw some people being really hyped about it, I didn't understood why, then when it came out I gave it a chance and saw some gameplay wans't fully convinced but eventualy bought the game and I hand no idea if I was going to like it, and then BOOM it became my fav game of all time, it changed my life, made me cry and I played xeno X after and BOOOM I was blown away by how the best open world I have ever played was made for the sparking wii U and no one talks about it! so I played the full saga, I love every game to death now, all of them are masterpieces that I tell all of my friends about it and beg them to try it out lol. I became a huge Xenoblade simp cause I know it can change peoples lives just like it did to me, also I dicovered new game series thanks to it, I played persona 5 and now I love the series too, also the world ends with you, Octopath traveler and many more amazing games that I would have never tried if it wasn't for Xenoblade it really made me discover a whole new world of videogames that now I consider to be pure art.

    Xenoblade 2 is one of my favorite game, even with its flaws like the map system (I prefer a lot more the one from Xenoblade 1&3 because it's much more easy to explore/you reveal the map), the field skill, the over amount of slow/clunky menu and the worst tutorial. It's easily a game that I would want as a "Definitive version" on the Switch 2. PS: I recommand you the Trails game series. It's kind of the MCU of the JRPG. It's a lot of time investment/commitment, but it's so good. A lot of Xenoblade fans are also Trails fans. ;)

    I went through something similar with Xenoblade 1 and while 1 may have changed my life forever with it's amazing cast and story, Xenoblade 3 SOMEHOW topped that with Chapter 5. Rarely ever can I go back to an emotional scene and have it make me cry again even when I know what's gonna happen next, but the Xenoblade series does that to me EVERY TIME.

He and his team actually live by these same philosophies, as seen in their interviews. I can only agree, the Xenoblade Games are more than what one expects from a "videogame masterpiece". The way it combines various aspects of the lightness of life (including silly jokes) with subjects of existential depth is amazing. Every character is complex and unique in its very own way, and some characters reveal a sincereness and "purity" which "goes under the skin" - its difficult to express in words.
    While these games do require quite an effort to get into, its imho definitely worth the experience. (Realizing the quite complex mathematics of the battle mechanics, i decided for the following approach: "know what you are doing and why, but don't dissect it - most importantly: enjoy")

    Xenoblade 1 had a similar impact on me, it didn't just change my life, it is not an exaggeration to say it probably saved my life.
    Spoilers for anyone who hasn't played Xenoblade 1, btw
    I have struggled with hallucinations and severe anxiety all my life. In 2014, I suffered a mental breakdown, which continued on into 2015. I felt lost and hopeless in life, and just felt trapped. During this time, I was kind of just mindlessly playing games to try to keep it together at poimts.
    I then got Xenoblade Chronicles on New 3ds. And I really started to relate to Shulk, as his struggles with his visions reminded me of my pwn struggles with hallucinations.
    But it wasn't until Shulk's breakdown in the void that everything fell into place. The line "I was never alive" and thinking life is pointless echoed exactly how I was feeling. Then Alvis came in with the response "Only you can decide that (your life was pointless)"
    Which made me realize I could still do things in life, and I began to seek help for my mental problems.
    I wasn't immediate, and I still have issues, but I have learned how to deal with them. I'm in a much better place now, and always trying to do better.

      OK, so in all honesty, it's not so much what Xenoblade Chronicles 1 does right that makes it stand out over 2, but instead it is a number of issues 2 has that put it under 1. Because at both of the games cores, they are both absolutely incredible narratives, with amazing cutscenes, great and well written characters, unique and fun fighting, beautiful worlds, and some of the best music in all of gaming. But despite all of these high praises I have for 1 and 2, here are my flaws with 2.
      1. The character designs on a number of the characters in 2 are ridiculous. Specifically many of the women wear extremely revealing clothing. This includes one of the main characters in the game, being Pyra. It can make it difficult in very serious scenes to take it seriously with half naked women in my party. I don't know why they decided on these outfits. It doesn't bother everyone, but I don't love it and the creator of this video mentioned disliking it too.
      2. The English voice acting in XC1 is almost universally beloved for how good it is. The English voice acting for 2 is still overall really really good. There are a handful of scenes though that are particularly a little rough. It is not common, but still, it isn't as consistent as 1's voice acting. Also, kind of related, the lips of the characters in cutscenes in 2 is way out of sync with the words coming out. This is because, the lips were synced with the Japanese words and not the English words. For some reason, this out of sync issue is dramatically more noticeable in 2 than 1. It is definitely not a deal breaker, but still.
      3. As previously mentioned, the tutorial is overwhelming and bad in 2. I have seen a good many people quit the game in the beginning because the tutorial is trying to give too much info all at once and the player can't absorb it all and they get frustrated. It is a shame, because I would say that when you get the combat, XC 2's combat is even better than 1's already very good combat (though they are still quite unique from each other). XC 1, doesn't just not have a wall of text for a tutorial, but it also introduces new mechanics at a better pace. Much less overwhelming to the player.
      Overall, while they are both fantastic games, XC 2 is a game with a few higher highs, but also some lower lows. Specifically getting through the beginning of XC 2 is difficult for first time players because of being overwhelmed, and they don't get to experience the amazing game that you get to once things begin to click and the story really ramps up. XC 1 is a more consistent experience, and that is why I prefer it overall.

    Glad you got something out of this game. I picked it up at launch because Xenoblade 1 is in my top 3 favorite games of all time and I really had to force my way through the end to see what people loved about it, and I never found it. I'm not trying to be a dick though, I really am jealous that people enjoyed this game because I'd love to have another game like Xenoblade, but I really can only name a handful of moments in my whole playthrough that I wasn't just sad or frustrated or cringing or disappointed in the game :(
    That said, Pyra is an amazing waifu and I love that she's in Smash, best thing to come out of the game was easily her design IMO :P

      I certainly understand, since there are a lot of awkward and cringe-worthy moments in the game. The first Xenoblade game is also amazing, so the sequel had a lot to live up to

    • @GhabulousGhoti
      @GhabulousGhoti 8 месяцев назад

      @@idiosyncrasygaming Yeah, and IMO it didn't really try to live up to it so much as do its own thing that felt like a completely unrelated game. Honestly I kinda wish it wasn't called "Xenoblade 2", since the tone and gameplay are so different and the stories are just barely connected in a way that's largely irrelevant to each other. If that were the case I probably would have passed up on the game altogether and not spent the 70 or so hours trying to enjoy it, I really only kept going because it was a sequel to a game I loved so much so I figured at some point it would click with me.

      I know someone who enjoyed it more the second time when they were not trying to compare it to the first game and was just seeing the game on its own merits. But it's also 60 hours to play through again. Maybe watching Xenoblade 2 lore videos would help if you want to understand the love for it, because there is so much subtext that is not immediately obvious the first time through the game. Or playing Torna the Golden Country. Someone else I know ended up appreciating the base game after Torna because they finally understood the motives for Mythra, Jin, and Malos.

    • @GhabulousGhoti
      @GhabulousGhoti 8 месяцев назад

      @@ShallBePurified Maybe I'd change my mind too, but I feel like I understood the motives just fine, I just found the writing itself to be very "I'm 14 and this is deep" in nature (in general I'm very hard to win over with this stuff). The very unfunny comedy scenes and the lack of direction for the first six or so chapters also really hurt the tone and pacing for me, and I found the gameplay super dull and way too slow like I was going through the same motions in every single fight and never needed to strategize outside of bosses because it was too easy. That said, I actually did enjoy a few of the boss fights fwiw.
      I'll probably play the game again one day but I'm not going out of my way for it, it just was such a disappointing time that I'd rather not spend 60+ hours hoping it will click with me this time :(

    • @ShallBePurified
      @ShallBePurified 8 месяцев назад

      @@GhabulousGhoti Have you played Xenoblade 3? I feel like you'd enjoy that since they dial down the anime comedy a ton. The combat is like a more refined version of Xenoblade 2 with a bit of Xenoblade 1 influence (with some of the arts being on a timer). I personally thought Xenoblade 2's combat to be more fun than Xenoblade 1, because Xenoblade 1 also had that you can spam every art and do okay for non-boss enemies unless you're playing Melia. Xenoblade 2 combat gets very fast if you master how the game intends for you to play it, with pouch items and/or a lot of switching between Blades and building up your combos.
      If Xenoblade 2 is not for you, it's not for you. No need to force yourself to try and like it.
