    CCME Water Quality Index is one of the most widely use Water Quality Index Method in summarising the Water Analytical data into data or information that are easily understandable by anyone.

    Could you Please explain, how use this method in case of irrigation because SAR, Pi, SSP, RSC and MR are calculated in meq/l and the heavy element are expressed in mg/l? I don't know how to deal with different unit?

      Hi @benchohra Maamar. The standard protocol for analyzing water quality parameters is the American Public Health Association, 2005 (The Bible of water quality analysis). Thank you

    Very nice explanation!
    I'm studying this Index and I wasn't trusting the F3 values I was getting...
    ... I find the distribution of F3 values very strange...
    For example: if I have all samples with twice the default... my F3 will be 50%...
    ... I think this greatly alleviates the problem of double overflowing the parameter.

    Thank you very much (@Dr. Eugene ) for a clear explanation I have the following questions
    as per BIS 10500:2012, for turbidity, the acceptable limit is 1, and the permissible is 5. Why did you select 1 it will make a lot of difference
    you're using an acceptable limit for chlorides, i.e 250.
    plz clarify this Sir what to take
    BOD =5 in BIS not available

    When calculating the C= Excursion value, what should I do if a standard value is 0 (B value=0 for A/B)?

      Determining the WQI for that particular paramter (having permissible limit of zero) will be futile. it better to not incorporate parameters having 0 standard limits. I hope this will help you. Thank you 😊 for supporting 🙏

    Is it possible to use data between years instead of seasons?
    If possible, can data between seasons and years be used together to calculate the water quality index?

      @Azzeddine Sir, to my understanding of our query, In a year you will analyze the water samples for different seasons. So technically your seasonal data made up your yearly data. Thank you

    can be used this method for one sampling time for each points? it means only wet season I have collected 40 water samples and I wished to analyze the using CCME WQI method. is it possible??

      Hi Dilan. CCME WQI is best for >1 season of sampling.
      With one time sampling, no. of fail variables will be inconsistent.
      So the answer is no.

      The index value ranged from 0 to 100.
      So technically there is no way to obtain a negative WQI value thank you 😊

    Can I know the established standard parameter value for conductivity,fecal and total coliform for calculating CCME water quality index.

      You can avail these from any prescribed standard you selected for your study
      BIS or WHO or EPA etc

    Sir, if I have collected data two time in a year with 10 parameters then no. of test will be 10*12 or 10*2?

    Sir, sorry for pointing this out, can explain why you didn't calculate the excursion=objective/failed test value -1 (for the cases in which the test value must not fall below the objective.)? is it not necessery or you skipped it?

      Step 3.1 only one of the two is to be adopted and the readings obtained fits the first of 3.1.
      And if you try with the second formula you will get you data in negative.Thank you

    If we have the data of same month of two different years then what will be the no of test?
    If no of parameters are 12
    Then it will be multiplied by two or not?

      Hi Siraj
      If for 2 Seasons and in each season you have 12 parameters analyzed
      Then the mean values fitted into the calculations is 12 ×2 = 24
      Therefore no of test will be 24

      Two data sets of same month (January) of 2019 and 2020.
      Data sets are not seasonal.

      Hi @ Anti-Fool. There are four seasons in a year. Accordingly, you can divide the months and classify your data (if your sample collection is of course) seasonal in nature. Thank you.

      @@JustLikeASteam Kindly how to calculate IWQI which defines the irrigation water quality. I calculate every thing like EC, Na+, Cl−, SAR and HCO3− but cant claculate the qi .
