Thanks for showing us your findings. That is so frustrating though that the weights are so far off.
I do agree that would be nice if Lego just sold a complete set of the figures if someone wants them all or something like that.
I worry this is gonna encourage people even more to actually open the packages to see what’s inside. Ugh.

I think they were selling a full pack of minifigures at certain places in Denmark for the Marvel Series 2 minifigures. It would be nice if LEGO rolled that out worldwide.
I went to a wide variety of shops in the UK that sell minifigures when the boxed Marvel Series 2 was available. I luckily never saw any open boxes at all. Hopefully they are just isolated instances of people misbehaving.

Maybe weigh the empty boxes aswell to check where the difference between the Harpies comes from?

    • @construction_wolf

That's a great idea 👍 I was considering weighing them too, and the 3 Harpies built individually to work out where the variation is. I will provide this all in an update once I hopefully get the rest of the minifigures.

Rather than relying on just one set of weights (Jay’s), I drew on several from across the interwebs and used the averages and minima to identify the ones I wanted from a LEGO store on 1 January. I got 11 that I wanted and none that I didn’t.
The average, minimum and maximum weights are given in a table in the Eurobricks forum in the Special LEGO Themes sub-forum.
Today, 7 January, I went to a WHS and got five more. I identified them using the data matrix (QR code) scanner method and double checked by weighing them. I haven’t opened them yet but am confident that I have what I was after.

Thank you for the information 👍 I have done some of my own weight tests since the video and have an update on the variability, which is not ideal. It was not helped either by the guide being inaccurate, which I have confirmed for at least the UK.
I have since tested the QR code on all my boxes and can confirm it worked with all of mine! I have picked up a few more minifigures, and will have an update video on the whole situation in the near future.

Enjoyed meeting you too. Glad you got some of the minifigures you wanted, and 2 goats is a decent result! If I remember correctly you picked up the museum too, hope you enjoy building it 😀

I planned on going to the MK store yesterday but in the end decided to order online. Collecting cmf’s is certainly much harder now.

Once the initial rush died down it wasn't too bad in the store, I had a good time in there. Hope you enjoy the Lego you ordered 😀

My scale also gave different numbers on the same minifig. Someone pointed out that the boxes could have a different (albeit small) amount of glue in them. Here is some data I collected:
    17,35g = harpy
    17,39 = harpy
    17,39 = harpy
    17,55 = harpy
    16,35 = barbar
    16,39 = barbar
    16,43 = barbar
    16,48 = barbar
    16,44 = barbar
    19,28 = vampire
    19,13 = vampyr
    19,04 = vampyr
    19,17 = vampyr
    19,11 = vampyr
    19,15 = vampyr
    19,60 Goat
    19,45 Goat
    19,58 Goat
    19,54 Goat
    19,41 Goat
    19,51 Goat
    19,44 Goat
    17,26 = mushroom
    17,33 = mushroom
    18,05 = dog groomer
    18,05 = dog groomer

Thank you for all the data 👍 I have done some comparisons and did draw some conclusions on what was causing the variance in this video: ruclips.net/video/kTmXMh4sz7E/видео.html

I'll probably go off the info from this video instead of that guide that's been going around. No idea how there are such big discrepancies

It's such a hassle now... I think I'll get a couple blind, then get what a really want on Bricklink.

The weighing method is a bit inconsistent so not ideal. There has been a development though, newer batches of the minifigures have a QR code that can reveal what is inside. I will have a new video out in the near future covering this.

I returned the scale, it doesn't work. Also don't know why Lego make different QR codes, only the big QR code scans. Although, I am missing only the Sprinter to complete a set.

It seems like Lego changed from the smaller older style QR codes, to the new larger style partway through production. Luckily the newer style we can now use to identify the minifigures, much more accurate than weighing. Hopefully Lego do not change using these QR codes in the future 🤞

Hope you have better luck tomorrow. Other stores worth trying are Smyths, B&M or a supermarket (Tesco, Sainsbury's etc.) if any are close to you. I will be visiting one of these to try and complete my collection in the near future.

@eivom1, I found them at WHS today, 7 January.
I already had some that I bought at a LEGO store on New Year’s Day but wanted to get some more and WHS is easier for me to get to.

Thank you. It was disappointing. I will try and get the remaining minifigures, then will have a full list of weights to share with everyone. In theory this should work, but will have to see how it goes this time.

As I discovered from the last mystery boxes, the weight guide is hugely flawed.
I hope someone collects the data from all over the world.
    Box numbers
    Weights
    Where purchased
    Humidity

Definitely a lot of data still to gather! Hopefully I get the minifigures I missed soon.
