don't hate the player, hate the game. Gentry is simply the the best when it comes to understanding the game and how the scoring system works then executing with few errors. Without his influence/knowldedge I wouldn't be placing as well as I am today so I really thank him for that. If anything needed to be changed I'd say the system should start to reward innovation more heavily. I've heard rumors of the judging system changing in Iceland for worlds next year, and I'm really excited to see what that's about.

If I can add, Gentry seems to be one of the only players who can score well without heavily utilizing tech or speed. As for the judging system, I'd like to see them work creativity and rareness into the clicks.

To everyone who is disliking this video. The only reason I can see to dislike this video is either you have a grudge against Gentry personally, or you hate the yo-yo community as a whole. There is NO other reason to dislike this video. If you disliked it because he re-used his worlds freestyle you are a complete idiot. USA is the only Country that hosts Nationals after Worlds and very close together. No one is going to be able to put together a brand new winning freestyle in that amount of time, especially when you have other life commitments. Gentry is doing what you haters dream of doing. But you think by disliking this video you are bringing down only Gentry, when in reality you are bringing down the yo-yo community. Think for once in your petty lives.

Actually, he almost never reuses routines. Like he said, us nats are very close to worlds, so its basically impossible to master a brand new freestyle.

It's hard building a new routine after coming back from worlds... Evan nearly could. the first part of his us freestyle did take alot of influence from his wyyc freestyle. but the second part was.....TECHnically heaven #puncity

You relive gentry stein is an extremely good yoyoing. He is like the Alabama crimson ride of yoyoing. Some people love him, and others despise him. He's just extremely talented and has obviously been practicing a lot.
I dont dare to say art, but defenately one of the best entertaiment performances I ve ever seen.

First of all some a holes is not the term u should use for fellow yoyoers that clicked a button. I would say that is judging wouldn't u. Look people keep making this mistake so let me set thing straight someone is NOT dumb or mean or hating or an "a hole" because they disliked the video that simply means they did not or do not like his style or performance in other words dislike it I personally didn't dislike it but I am not the biggest fan of he style. Also one more thing he music coordination is perfect but the thing is I personally don't like his actual tricks and that's just my opinion but their r others who don't like that he he doesn't have any new tricks anymore

There will always be haters. It shows their level of intelligence. A lot of people fail to realize his music is prefect for HIS style. I feel his music is timed close to perfect with his routine. I watched others with poor song collection and their tricks were not in time with the beat. This IMO.
MJ Florido no it does not show their intelligence I personally did not dislike it but I am not the biggest fan of gentry style. If some dislikes it that just means they don't like it doesn't make them dumb or a hater

One reason gentry is my favorite 1a player in the USA is that he doesnt move just for the sake of moving it is just sooooo unstatisfiing when people on stage move just to move. So gentry if your reading this, thanks ;)
Met this guy today! Showed me a few tricks but it’s harder than it seems lol
must admit i didnt watch his worlds one but its nice to see him going a bit more tech, my fave of all his routines so far. (as well as finally using music that doesnt make me drown in fondue)
as for repeating the freestyle- you guys are aware that for virtually every other skilltoy/performer discipline in the world that running the same routine for a year or two is perfectly normal right? yoyoers dont even get paid to be on stage and have to come up with SO much more material

if you want to see unmatched skill just look at Jensen Kimmitt's 2010 performance. True art.
I know this was 8 months ago. But Gentry's style is kind of influenced but Jensen Kimmitt, so he's like the Jensen of the 2016 current judging system, but they are still two styles different.

dont think so, you can't anodize titanium.
No he's using the new fade shutter that's been on the YYF Instagram :)
but you can burn titanium
You can anodize titanium, It's just harder because the process is a bit different and the overall look differs from regular anodized aluminum just look up Luftverk yoyos.
But yes it's the new colorway blue to silver fade shutter.
It's the shutter but in a new color way where the yoyos colors fade from blue to silver or from black to silver.

I think folks are being critical of that many missed string hits wining nationals, seems like nobody really went clean and the current ruleset isn't punishing that hard enough. None the less wonderful performance
The current rule set is reasonably punishing I'd say. A point down for every missed string hit, failed bind, missed laceration etc. Plus a whole 5 points dedicated to cleanliness.
