Honorable mention: Diesel vs. Bob Backlund at a live event in 1994. All it took was a boot to the gut, a Jackknife Power bomb, and a three-count and Diesel became the new WWE Champion.
I was wondering if this list would feature Jon Moxley vs. Shota Umino from Dominion 2019, but that one is over the limit at 3:52. However, I still very much recommend that one because it is basically a perfect squash match. A Star against a rookie. The Star absolutely dominates but you can see the good fundamentals of the rookie and the difference isn't inate talent, but strength and experience that can be built up, helping both wrestlers. Plus it had a payoff with Moxley announcing his entrance into the G1 Climax tournament that year, and because he liked Umino's performance in the match he takes him under his wing as his tag partner for undercard tag matches during the G1 tour, something that still pays off to this day.
Kurt Angle and Matt Striker had multiple entertaining matches with the 3 minute time limit Dolph Ziggler's selling made him vs Goldberg also entertaining.
The problem with these two matches versus WWE speed is that we know the speed matches will be sure. These other matches had shop finishes and they were executed awesomely. But we know the speed matches have a time limit so we can never be shocked with an early finish. And I think that's some of the magic that is lost and that something that could make these matches special is stripped away because of the time of it
Jerry Lawler had an awesomely hilarious line in that Spike/Regal match… “How clever, this guy’s great! (as Spike is running to the ring) Not this guy I meant Mr. Regal.” I die every time I hear it 😂🤣💀
I have a feeling that one didn't make the list because that segment dragged on for way too long and made The Wyatt Family look like chumps. That segment was ass.
About number Five, it wasn't the only main roster tv match Strong ever had... He picked up the win at the Survivor Series triple threat on the three brand year, and SS was a main roster televised show
Im so glad that yall are starting to care more about Japanese wrestling history. Please more retrospectives and content around All Japan and a few of their indies.
How in the heck can you put Spike Dudley and the European Championship before Diesel beating Backlund for the big one?! Lol I was convinced Diesel/Backlund would be #1. WWF Championship match in MSG!
No sheamus vs Daniel Bryan shortest match in wrestlemania history? Kane vs Chavo? The entire fued between Orton and benoit where he kept making him tap in shorter and shorter burst?
Tomasso Ciampa would appear in an in-ring promo on Smackdown around Summer 2005 & suffer a chokeslam from the Undertaker. Side note: Tomasso had hair on his head & no beard!
Lita trish and Mickie were great and would BE on top today! I was so happy when aj Lee came around because finally we had some of that back... Sasha was great too! But unfortunately we had to have Charlotte shoved down our throats...
Why would you ignore a well known thing like 123 kid being The lighting kid and lie saying he was just the kid? That's not what he was called... Literally ever
Honourable mention, William Regal beating Santino Marella for the Intercontinental championship in 2008 in about 30 seconds. When I think of this match all I remember is Regals titties bouncing before he hits the knee trembler 😂
So to make WWE Speed make sense and not cush the credibility of most of the roster, they will have to bring outsides in to lose or make matches 2 (or more parts) where they get pre matched attacked for 1-4 videos before the actual one. 🤔 Oh, and this is a stretch for "great"... A lot where pretty "good" though. 🤗
"Great" under 3 minutes? According to Jey's recent interview he and Jimmy put on such a stinker of a match at WrestleMania 40 because they were limited to only 11 minutes... so for under 3 that would be impossible!
Those matches were all bad. This list is for short matches that were actually entertaining. The only thing the Sheamus match did was kick off the Yes Movement for Bryan, otherwise that was a stupid booking decision.
The whole concept of WWE Speed seems like an odd justification for quick finishes in the bed. I mean, a "win" is a "win", but an under 3-minute win will never feel as good as a 15+ minute win, if you know what I mean. ;)
Fun fact: Antonio Inoki's chin is what inspired Joey Wheelers creepy chin in Yu-Gi-Oh.

Honourable mention: Taker vs Cena at Mania 34. While the match wasn't the actual best it was an amazing short match and a one sided affair too
Yes!
Cena sold the boot so well that we all thought that it was impactful
After watching the replay, Taker’s boot didn’t even hit Cena’s face 😂
@@mkhoicute yeah lol😂🤣
Fun fact
It was both men's shortest Wrestlemania match

Also that was one of the first times the WWE championship didn’t change in a ppv.
DID YOU SAY 3 MINUTES?
*3 Minute Warning theme hits
RIP Rosey and Jamal 🙏🏻❤️

Umaga and Rosey would probably be disappointed by this list
6:23 look at how young MVP looks
Ppl don't talk about that Spike/Regal match enough for me. I popped like crazy when i saw that match lol
Kurt Angle and Matt Striker had multiple entertaining matches with the 3 minute time limit
Dolph Ziggler's selling made him vs Goldberg also entertaining.
Trish vs Lita, Raw 2004. The ideal back-and-forth match done in under 3 minutes
Hart Foundation vs Bolsheviks at Mania 6 is a mention. 19 seconds that led to a Hart Foundation title shot/win and the split of the Bolshevik split.
bro that dude getting fed to Kurt Angle 💀
6:25 It MVP!

It's basically the "Beat The Clock" match reimagined concept on WWE Speed.
Random fact; Initially JBL's retirement match at wm25 was going to be JBL Vs Kozlov with JBL as the babyface.
Jerry Lawler had an awesomely hilarious line in that Spike/Regal match…
“How clever, this guy’s great! (as Spike is running to the ring) Not this guy I meant Mr. Regal.” I die every time I hear it 😂🤣💀
Pacitti knows how to have a great time in under 3 minutes.

Honorable Mention to The Rock vs Erick Rowan at Wrestlemania 32. 6 Seconds.

He said the only singles match
Prime Kurt vs Claudio would be incredible
So Regal was done in twice by his brass knuckles gimmick cuz I remember he was pinned by a KO’d Big Show after he hit him with them
Goldberg v Lesnar
That match was Trash.... A Smart move but a Trash match....
Didn't Regal lose an ECW Championship match to Christian at a ppv in quick suggestion aswell?

It was on a non televised house show. They probably didn't count these.
@@filipjphry3282 good point!
Also, being a "big moment" doesn't mean it was entertaining.
This isn't a TOP 10, this is just an "in-general" 10 list
The list went from longest match to shortest
What a way for WWE Monday Night RAW started a series Premier over 40 years ago.

Sid Vicious vs Lee Scott.

Seeing these Matches the USO have no excuse for 8 minute match
What, No Hogan vs Nash ? Greatest match of All time.
Kurt Angle vs. Roderick Strong. In 2005. On SmackDown. What kind of world do I live in?
Tomasso Ciampa would appear in an in-ring promo on Smackdown around Summer 2005 & suffer a chokeslam from the Undertaker. Side note: Tomasso had hair on his head & no beard!
Kid v Razor launched the franchise.
So no Bryan/Sheamus? No diesel/Buckland? No mitb cash ins?
Real life Crimson Chin 😂
Guessing #1 is Daniel Bryan vs shameless
The fact that theirs no women’s match from the golden era 2001 to 06 is crazy those women used their little three minutes and crammed a lot in it
Lita trish and Mickie were great and would BE on top today! I was so happy when aj Lee came around because finally we had some of that back... Sasha was great too! But unfortunately we had to have Charlotte shoved down our throats...
