Having had SFOT as my home park in the past. The worst thing Six Flags could have done was sack Ron McKenzie. When he was there for his short period of time it was night and day different. Hes the one who got Mr. Freeze repainted, cleaned up the park, redid the entry shops to make them look awesome and got the turn table added to Aquaman to increase capacity on that attraction. He was sacked for going over budget. The park currently does not have a president, they sacked Richard Douaihy a few weeks ago, likely over the log flume issue.
Last year I visited Six Flags Over Georgia, the park president was sweeping the midway... Offered to take a photo of us for my group. I couldn't believe it. The friggin president. Only to find out he would be sacked weeks later. These are the kind of people you want running your park. They are the ones who make a difference. Not cut the budget so tight and bring in people with minimal experience or just don't care.
Selim needs to go. And thankfully he wont be CEO any longer once this merger is done. Cedar Fair has been wanting to get into the DFW market forever and they finally are. I have high HIGH hopes for this park under their leadership. I think things will get cleaned up, run and maintained much better, as well as really turn around for the park.
Like it or not Aquaman is considered a major investment for the park under Six Flags terms these days. While a massive new coaster would be awesome, Cedar Fair is your only hope for it for now.

I didn't know that SFOG's park president was let go as a part of the 5 that were fired by Selim

crazy that the original six flags park doesn't have a better line up of coasters it's one of the reasons why I keep putting off a trip there

I wouldn’t be surprised if something gets announced sooner than later in regards to new rides and upgrades. They may not be for next year, but the 25 season could see some new rides. Cedar Fair wouldn’t make the investment if it didn’t intend on making changes to each park and soon. Of course I also see them trimming the fat and closing the smaller parks.

Engineering initially said it could be done. They went into a deeper scope to get started and found it was not feasible.

Hate to say it but I broke the ride was not going to happen in September. I just didn't say it in pain terms.

SFOT is technically following Fiesta’s footsteps, except that they’re not new rides because they’ve been placed in storage years ago

It's unfortunate for SFOT to get shafted from receiving anything new for 2024 after El Rio Lento got canceled

If I had to guess? I would say that when they started doing the engineering survey for the new layout they found that a lot of the existing infrastructure was beyond repair or at the end of its life anyways. Would not be the first time a park has run into the issue when they made plans to redo something.

I think holding off on this is a good idea ultimately. Especially given that such a project really needs a ton of planning to be done to be successful. The year to watch for big additions is 2026. Why? Because that is when Universal is set to open their new park in Texas. Next year will likely not have much in the way of additions and changes, but come 2025 and 2026, I would expect there to be some major additions to help draw away some of Universal's guest numbers. Hopefully a new coaster and flat rides happen and iconic rides like Shock Wave could get some needed refurbishment.

I was wondering if you was going to put your input on this merger with cedar Fair, I would have to agree the log fume ride shouldn't have been announced till they got on idea and what it's going to take to get it done. We don't need another Aquaman repeat. So it's a good idea the new log fume was scrapped for now

Oh, egads! Six Flags Over Texas is standing still! But what if those construction workers are building the new wooden roller coaster from GCI and floorless coaster from B&M in Six Flags Over Texas?

Most capital investments are probably on hold due to the merger which means delays. Some projects may also have been canceled altogether. I swear I hope they keep the SF ceo as far away from any real decision making posittion.

I don't see any other attractions that were announced would be delayed or canceled. SFOG announced an Ultra Surf coaster themselves during a presentation with the rest in the announcement video

They been suffering ever since their Flagship Park was born and sold off. That's why they need this Merger. The funny part is the new merger head quarters are in Charlotte but the finances is at Cedar Fairs old headquarters and the CEO and CFO are from Cedarfair so sixflags executives has no final say on how to spend money since they proved they don't understand how the business works

Cedar Fair had nothing to do with it as the vote from the lead investor groups had not occurred when they canceled it in September. Engineering canceled confirmed.

Six Flag boasted they would invest 200 million in rides. They didn't get the reaction in the stock that they needed. Now a merger with Ceadar Fair. Six Flags was on a down hill plunge.
