    I gotta give props to my fellow hairstylists who aren't afraid to post videos of their hair techniques. I feel like hairstylists that post on youtube always have the worst critics. I find that I have to simply enjoy the video and avoid the comments. You're honestly one of the best and all of your hair turns out so flawless! I've picked up so many new ways of doing hair thanks to you! Thank you for putting yourself out there :)

      Apache helicopter blonde is one of the biggest investments to ever make ,their is litterly soo many ways to go with it and the upkeep once you do find the shade that’s good for you a lot and then stick with the stylist that knows your hair and what turned out best for you ☺️

      There are infinite ways to do blonde/ highlights. I would recommend keeping your eye out for someone in your area who has great hair or something similar to what you want. Ask them who they go to. Then, make sure the stylist really listens and communicates with you (bad or non-existent consultations are a RED FLAG). Also, give a stylist that’s new to you more than one chance to get it right with you if you feel like he/she is professional and skilled. Sometimes it can take more than one session to find the right technique/products for a client.

    Color adjustments are only a part of getting on the color merry-go-round....You get to light, you need low lights. You get to dark, you need hilights.
    Then you need a toner...then you need a different base toner.
    Round and round is what keeps us in business....YAY!

    How did this happen? Did then previous stylist just retouch only the pieces that had been highlighted? Is that was created those "stripes"? If you baby light a retouch and do it the same way you did the initial highlight, then you'll get random patches of dark and light within the hair. It's like there's no way to win.

    Hi :) for future touch up’s, do you just paint the roots for touch up like an all over color, or do you do this process for every touch up?

  • @l.3814
    @l.3814 2 года назад

    Someone "fixed" stripey lights like this for me. But the grow out from not teasing the strands back to the root or painting in v or w shape where she could, left straight lines.
    Made it so that I had to get more highlights yet again, didn't banish all the stripes actually in some spots she painted in even more stripes & of course I ended up with a ton of breakage.
    Granted if you get the correction before letting your roots grow out a tiny bit, its too soon for the teasing technique, there's more need to just cover up the mistake. Be patient & let your hair rest a bit & really talk it out with the stylist before you get more done.
    Who even does stripey lights these days? Sucks paying people to ruin your hair.
    Beware when you get highlights how they're painting it on. Make sure you communicate how you want it to grow out with no straight harsh lines before they ever start. Consultations are crucial. If that doesn't compute with the stylist cancel the appt & find one who knows how to do it right.
    The closer a stylist paints to the root- as straight as the end of the brush, the harsher line/grow out. There'll be a hard visible line & put you right back in the salon in no time.
    A lil teasing & painting in a v or w shape (look it up, ex: Guy Tang) will let it grow out more natural.
    Otherwise highlights can become too solid with no dimension, cause your natural hair is disappearing & then you'll need lowlights & before you know it your natural hair is too far gone & there will be brass/orange tones from the fading lowlights. You'll be buying purple & blue shampoo, that can dry it out, & spending tons of $ on your hair.
    You'll have to grow it out to restore it & of course it'll take a couple years or more before you see your natural healthy hair gain some real length. And you'll be tempted to chop it off.
    Clearly I learned all this the hard way. 😏
    Another tip. Don't let anyone do your hair in a hurry & don't be too shy to speak up if they're doing something you know is wrong for you or more than you want.
    I've had a stylist agree it was perfect to give me just 7 babylight foils in a touch up session, but end up giving me 14 or more just to make the extra cash. (As she went she talked about needing $ & I was gonna tip her well. 😑 Til I could tell she was intentionally deceptive at the end.) To boot she didn't let it process long enough & turned it orange, but still charged me. That spun me into a series of mishaps trying to get it fixed. 😡
    Is up to you/us the clients to make sure we're not being taken advantage of.

    @madelinebryant6511 5 лет назад

    You mentioned hot spots. What does that mean? I just got full highlights on my virgin brown hair and it’s looks a bit chunky with some large brown sections left out. Also we left some root out but there was zero blending. I’m not sure what to do help!

    • @kimmyceeisme
      @kimmyceeisme 5 лет назад

      Victoria Damico I’m a cosmetologist and I’ve never heard the term “hot spots” so I’m thinking she meant to say “hot roots” and that is basically when the roots wind up very warm toned(red, orange) because of the heat of the scalp, whereas the rest of the hair usually processes like it should have. Or she could be referring to any splotchiness throughout the hair, from the previous stylist....that may be Lexi’s way of using the term “hot spots”.
      Did you get your color fixed? I’m sorry about your bad experience. That’s so stressful 💔

    • @LisaLisa-mx3hq
      @LisaLisa-mx3hq 5 лет назад

      Hotspots are usually caused by foil slippage,or Taking to big or to wide of sections when foiling,it is spotty or blotchy looking at the root.

    • @LisaLisa-mx3hq
      @LisaLisa-mx3hq 5 лет назад

      It's caused by the bleach bleeding out of the foil as well.

    Would it be possible to get this look if you're starting with white blonde hair? I find it's really hard to make it darker without it looking green
    :(

      Hailey you need to fill the hair or add a color with a warm pigment. Google how to fill hair when going from light to dark

    Beautiful work the end result wad great i just didn’t understand why your assistant was doing a retouch on her roots if you then did it at the sink. ?

      she was doing a midlight in between so that there was a little more dimension further down that wasn't as dark as the root and could cover up some of the bleeders from the previous highlights
