would love to see a video on how you know what to dose, are you doing tests to know which one you need to dose more or less of or watching the plants and know what to look for to cut back or increase on e or another. seems like someone like me might as well mix them up and dose it as an all in one.
You can get individual test kits but I've done it long enough, I can just look at the plants and know what I need more or less of but that would still make a good video thanks
Hi Johnny, I have been using the ADA fertilizers for my bucephalandra tank. It's only a two foot/60L tank with Contro Soil substrate, CO2 and a Chihiros Vivid ii light running at 40% power. Everything started off well with nice steady growth until recently when the plant leaves started to grow smaller with curled edges. They look like they haven't opened fully. I've noticed a general drop in color also. I've increased GH using Seachem's Equilibrium as I read the problem could be caused by a calcium deficiency, however no noticeable improvement on new growth after 3 weeks. All ferts are dosed according to the recommended amount on the bottle (1ml/20L per day). The tank has 40L of water (the remaining volume is taken up by hardscape), so two pumps each of N, P, K, iron and minerals are dosed daily. The plants are obviously lacking something and I'm kind of leaning towards a lack of nitrogen now. 70% of the substrate is covered with plants. I'd be really interested to hear what you would do to combat this problem or any advice you have to rectify this. Thank you : )
Hey JJ. In the manuals for each of these brighty series fertilizers, ADA mentions that its acceptable to double or triple the standard dose according to plant mass. Is that something you do or do you more or less stick to 1 pump per 20L throughout the tank's life cycle? Thanks.
Hey, what dosage would you recommend for a blackwater aquarium 90p with all slow growing anubias? Have the 3 ferts brighty k, mineral and iron. Id say half the recommended dosage every other day. Or maybe full dosage once a week. Whats your take on that? Thanks!
Great Video! I have a 21 gallon long tank and almost 7weeks old of “dry start method”. Planning to flood my tank and i noticed that my monte carlo and s.repens are have brown color in their leaves. Any suggestion which ADA ferts should i use?
Hi, I have a 40 L tank and have been using Brighty K and Brighty Mineral for two weeks. A week after the start, I increased the dose of Brighty Mineral from 2 to 3 pumps a day, unfortunately water tests still do not detect iron. I did the same with Brighty K, where potassium was present at only 5 ml/l (now it's 10 ml/l, so still too low). The tank has Chihiros WRGB mini 35 W lighting and ADA Aqua soil with power sand. Should I increase the dose of bright K and mineral until iron becomes detectable and potassium increases to at least 20 ml/l? Great video btw, very helpful!
Thanks! I have two more questions: What should you pay attention to in the appearance of plants? And: By increasing the dosage of bright mineral, do I not dangerously increase the level of other minerals that are currently sufficient in the doses used so far? This is my first experience with Ada fertilizers and I don't know if I'm going to overdo it...
@marcinkwiecinski2125 ADA ferts are very lean so you don't have to worry about over doing it to much and for the plants just for discoloration and dropping leaves, melting etc
Hi, I've been using them for 2 weeks and it works really well! I just have one question please. From how long do you fertilize? I use automatic fertilizer pumps. I put the fertilizers on at 8:00 a.m. when my lights start to come on...is this ideal? or do I have to wait 1 hour later for example? Thanks
Thanks for the helpful video! I need your help, I set up a new 20L planted tank where I use sand as a subtrastrate and no CO2. Plants include java ferns, anubias, bacopa, cryptocoryne, and DHG. Do you think I should dose iron + nitrogen once the tank have finished cycling? Right now I’m dosing brighty neutral K + brighty mineral. Thanks!!!
You could and that's what ada kinda says to do but everyone just doses all from the beginning the only reason ada says not to is even your using new amazionia which has a lot of iron and nitrogen so just prevents you from having a big algae outbreak at first
@@jjaquariums Thanks! one last question lol, I am confused by the description of the "vita mix" product. It's described as an aqua conditioner for tap water, does this mean it removes chorine/chloramine like other water conditioners or is it just for adding vitamins to the water?
@@jjaquariums I use RO water but not RODI. I think my water still has chloramines in it so I use a water conditioner. I am assuming vita mix removes chloramines but it's not mentioned in the description so a bit unclear.
Hey JJ, how strong is the buffering effect of the green brighty K? I am wondering if you would use that or the neutral K for RO water in a scape with rocks that affect water chemistry like seiryu. Thanks! I purchased the buffering kind then realized maybe I should have got the neutral because of the rocks I used.
Subscribed and liked! I’ve been waiting for info and news on ADA inventory. It’s all super expensive. For example I just got wave shears for $8, ADA wants $175? Wtf?
Hey JJ, Your tanks looking stunning mate, and Im also really inspired by your love of ADA products, I started to use ADA ferts to my 60P, but Im keep getting staghorn, and hair algea, I just wonder if its because Im underdosing, I got lots of plants, using only Brighty K + Minerals 3 pumps a day. Useing RO, reminiralized with Equilibrium, high end lights and filter, amazonia + powersand. No sign of ammonia, all test are good. Any suggestions ?
Just setup my 60U as an iwagumi using HC as my only plant and I am using the full ADA substrate system and wanted to ask you. When should I start fertilizing?
How often do I do water changes, and how much water do I change with ADA Ferts? Obviously this isn't like the Estimative Index method where I'll be doing 50% water changes weekly right?
The whole set of ada fertilizer is made to be dosed all together so all four and dosed daily bc its a lean fertilizer, but each pump does about 5 gallons, so 10 pumps of each daily
Can you make a video on the ADA Air Sweeper or ada water conditioners? it's hard to find videos on them and i'm not sure whether they are worth the money because they are very expensive in my country.
The air sweeper is discontinued so I can't get one unless I found someone with one, but it's not needed I can tell you that now amd the water conditioners is a good one I will put that on the list thanks

What would you suggest if you're going to be out of town for a week or so? Higher fertilizer dose before you leave or reduce lighting while you're gone? Great video!
Nope it's bc it's a leaner fertilizer so it requires to be dosed daily which is also better for the plants, it's made to pair with Amaziona soil with how rich the soil is
