    Hey man my arowana was found on the bottom of my tank and i thaught that was okay.When i fed him he didnt eat.Only change i made was i removed the dark background of the tank so its way more light.Water parameters are tested and stable

      You fish is going thru an environmental shock, try turning off light for 1-2 days and check if its starts swimming , If it does then after a day or 2 try turning back light on for couple of hours a day until he acclimatized to the new environment.

    Thanks for the info brother, i took over 2 arowana in different tank from a friend 4 days back(Prev owner told me they ate Market Prawns), and tried feeding them the 2nd day, A ate an entire deshelled and deveined MP(i didnt know gotta chop it into smaller pieces cause this one is 17 inch), B(about 19 inch) didnt eat so, tested parameters for both tanks and
    A
    PH 6.0 (Lowest my API Master Test Kit can test)
    0.25 ammonia
    0 nitrite
    0 nitrate
    (i guess the PH crashed or something in this tank, I got seachem arowana buffer and got it back up to 6.6 ish)
    B
    Ph 6.6
    0 ammonia
    0 nitrite
    0 nitrate
    then 3rd day B ate 1 small piece of chopped MP and after that spits out any offered prawn until today.
    Back to A, after eating the entire MP on 2nd day it has rejected any pieces of MP i dropped in and even tilapia which is irrestible to my channa maru and florida gars. And i found your video after watching your video, i feel more at ease after the 1st point, i guess i'll just be patient keep offering till it eats.

    May i ask how long is too long when it comes to starvation due to change of diets for arowanas? What should i look out for physically in my arowana? In this case, i tried to change to different pellets brand which is slightly cheaper than the previous brand that i fed my arowana. Now my arowana just refused to eat, this surely worries me greatly. You gave great infos in this vid that i have never really thought about. Thanks a lot!

    • @TheSimpleAquarist
      @TheSimpleAquarist  3 года назад +1

      Hi, thanks for watching, Well a minimum of 7 days to a month of starvation is no problem for an Arowana. There won't be any physical negative symptoms that I notice just that your fish would be more active when it's hungry so just look out for any jumping activity because it will try to eat anything at sight(small bugs and etc). Just try to starve him for around 7 days at first then slowly increasing the gap and try your new pellets.

    Hye bro recently i changed my tank for my 20inch arowana that i had for almost 8 years now, and it stopped eating for almost 2-3 weeks now. I hv tried mealworms & crickets something it bites and spits it out & somethings it completely ignores it. I hv noticed recently it rubs its body on the bottom of the tank as well. I hv tried epsom salt & heater. Can i ask whats the dosage for 5x2x2 tank.

    • @TheSimpleAquarist
      @TheSimpleAquarist  2 года назад

      Hi , Please do water parameter test - i believe rubbing could be because of newly uncycled aquarium filter.

    Best diet for gold arowana? Mine would eat tilapia and pellets on occasion but not he not eating the tilapia anymore only super worms if I throw in he gobbles up but he went his whole life without eating live but after couple weeks just had to try live and he eat no problem

      In order to stick with the same diet -- you must not give in. Let him starve for few days and eventually he will eat. Mine 98% pellets 2% dubia roaches( once in bluemoon).

    Giving centipede to aro they say it help to make the scales more shiny.. What is frog benefits to aro diet? Does it same as mealworm? And can make eye drop or not?

    • @TheSimpleAquarist
      @TheSimpleAquarist  3 года назад

      Hi , Yes ive heard that as well giving centipede to enhance color on RED arowana but i can say is "its like eating 10 eggs a day then human can grow muscle" but if the dont trains/lift weight you wont grow muscle. So with arowana you need to TAN or groom in order to achieve that goals. As for frog is very2 nutritious(high protein) usually ppl feed this to pump their arowana to grow faster. Mealworms is fine as well but it contain higher fats than the rest. For drop eye totally on genetics 70% diet 15% and environment 15% , ive seen fishes fed with live guppies and mealworms but no Drop eye.

    I have a small silver arowana he was a hard case at the pet store they said that he would only eat Live guppy . I got him home and within 2 days had him eating krill . He was eating it fine twice a day for the last two months . I added a very small red head cichlid recently and they don’t seem to have ever been fighting but soon after he stopped eating . Ive been offering him food every day twice a day for like 8 days and he still won’t eat . I’m going to try a water change tonight or should I just move him to another tank by himself that I have that’s cycled ? Thanks

Whenever he chews the mealworms, a lot of white particles coming out from his mouth. Before this there is no this type of issue. Within 1 minute he will finish it( 5 to 6 worms). But now i dunno why he doing like that. I had carry out water change but still same. Added salt but still same.. Any suggestions to overcome this problem ?

    So recently i got a Asian Arowana 4 to 5 inch
    And it was not eating aro sticks so what I did was I changed his diet I tried feeding him prawns and at starting he eat that but after that now he refuse to eat that he just take that in and spits out and doesn't eat again i was worried so I tried giving him live fish and he eat that very aggressively but he doesn't eats aro sticks or shrimp
    What should i do

    • @TheSimpleAquarist
      @TheSimpleAquarist  3 года назад

      hi , Once arowana have eaten live they might not want to eat any other food. So the only way is you need to try to starve it 3-5 days then try to feed pellets or shrimp. I suggest sticking to pellets first after that you can try shrimp. It is not recommended to feed live fish unless your getting from a clean source (they come with many parasites and diseases).

    Do you know why two of my arowana doesn't eat almost 10 days now? And when they try to eat they keep throwing back the food even when i slice it into very small pieces

    • @TheSimpleAquarist
      @TheSimpleAquarist  2 года назад

      Usually when arowana swallow and spit of out the food is because they are bored /dislike the food. What are you feeding? what did they used to eat? try mixing with the same food they used to eat (if its shrimp make sure the exact same type) then slowly transition it to another food that you wish to feed. Sometimes it take fast 1-2 weeks other times may be 8-12 weeks. I got fishes starve for 90 days before eating the food I want to feed.
      Most importantly is make sure you keep up with the water changes.
