  • On that Sunday, I decided to check out a couple of new spots. I first came to automatic 227 (PRR position lights) in Fostoria, PA. Train action was rather slow in the beginning with an westbound empty oil train NS 65R with an SD70ACe as DPU and a westbound stack train NS 25T. However just after 10 AM, five trains came through within the next 20 minutes, starting with NS 66D and NS 26T coming almost at the same time, then 25Z minutes later. Then Amtrak 42/04T with engine #514 passed by followed by NS 36A slowing crawling its way on the siding track. Since this was the first time I've been to this spot, I didn't know which track was the siding track until I got home and figure out it was the south track (basically it was main 2 - main 1 - siding, plus the number plates on the automatic signals were strange, from the north side it was 2273E, 2272E & 2271E). Anyway, after a brief lunch at Portage, PA (I saw NS 20T passing by behind the trees), it was off to another new spot for me, Summerhill, PA at automatic 263 (also with PRR position lights). Personally, I didn't quite like that spot due to all the vehicular traffic, the bridge barrier when I face the signals, and I caught the time a nearby church was having its service, so it was playing its music which could be heard loud and clear. I only stayed for two trains, NS 20K & NS 22W.
And so, I headed back to Cassandra to finish off the day and the weekend. Once I got there, NS 65K paced itself through with two Union Pacific AC44's. After a couple of intermodal trains (NS 20R, NS 20Q, NS 21M led by an SD70ACe) and empty coal train NS 591, NS 23Z rolled by with the Central of Georgia heritage unit up front. Seems like NS 23W's (Baltimore to Harrisburg) locomotives were being used on 23Z. Train action slowed down until about 4:30 PM, six trains rolled by within the next 45 minutes with intermodal, autoracks, mixed freight, oil & ballast. While putting my video equipment away, Amtrak 43/07T was almost about to pass by, so I decided just to snap a still photo (which came out crappy, please forgive me on my photo taking skills).
And with that, the weekend drew to a close and I had a great rest and relaxation!
Note: I'm really really NOT GOOD w/ train symbols. I try to get as many as I can through my scanner or asking other railfans around me (if any).**

Another heritage unit and an Amtrak heritage unit to add to your collection. Well done. Excellent video Allen.

Sunday is always slow for rail traffic, but on this line it doesn't appear by much!
