IGAMES, the publisher of Detective Club, has also brought out the initial version of Mysterium. They simply have great artists and great games. Another plus for me, the developers are doing it fully out of passion out of a small studio in Eastern Europe (Ukraine).
if the clue giver is winning the game, what prevents him or her from choosing esoteric words to prevent the culprit from being found out, thus securing 4 points? and if the culprit is winning big, the clud giver can deliberately choose unrelated images and choose a simple word so its obvious who the culprit is to deny him or her 5 points?
I actually played this game before it came out in the world and I played it with designer himself (he also co-designed Misterium and pirates of the seven seas). And now I have a nice box with the autograph from him! Well , it's been a while since that :)
I'm a sucker for these style of games with beautiful artwork on big cards(Mysterium, Dixit, When I dream). I think there's great value here for its price point, since it includes double the amount of cards of any Dixit expansion.
Just bought one, kind a fun, i would give like 8 out of 10. Good thing is one is a liar which is always fun, other good things is good cards (similar to dixit) you can actually use dixit cards later if you tired of cards someday. Only negative is points, its difficult to make a plan on how to mess with others, you want to get points, but you also want others to get less points. I tried it couple of times i need more tries to understand the game points. The game is fun in general, try it.
I played a final prototype of this at DTC 2019, with someone representing the company/designer, and instantly feel in love with it. Fantastic and fun game!
Wouldn't it be compared to Dreams, a game which sounds *largely* the same? The only difference is that in Dreams you are placing stones as a zodiac sign instead of picking cards for a word.
Good news for you then! You already own the game. Just use your Dixit and / or Mystrium cards. Take something to keep track of scores, like the Dixit scoretrack. Then use a colored token for each player for voting on cards. I suggest the Dixit bunnies.
I thought the same. The game was offered me before Essen as review copy and I rejected it. I was talked into the game when I was essen and took it with me and was afraid it was just another mesh-up game ... After having played it I am SO glad that I actually was talked into the game. It fired all other games for me: Dixit, Muse, Spyfall, A Fake Artis, Mysterium and so on. It's just outstanding and SO good! You have to try it on your own. Plus the cards are the most beautiful illustrated games I have ever seen in such a game.
It's like a mix between Dixit and A Fake Artist Goes to New York.

Love your enthusiasm. Instant buy for family game night. Thanks Tom!
I’ve wanted this as soon as I saw it, but it wasn’t in Canada yet. I’m thrilled to have FINALLY ordered it in!
Well, can't you just theoretically implement those rules as a modification for Dixit and not buy this game at all? :D
MrSerrrg88 yes you can, ive played it with mysterium clue cards and kept the score with the carcassonne scoreboard
My thoughts exactly.
Going to use my Mysterium cards with a cribbage board for score tracking.
Any colored token from any game for the rest.
Exactly. I already own both Dixit and Mysterium. I'm just going to buy a bunch of post it notes at the dollar store.
yup, played it at essen and thought exactly the same...
For those who are cheap and just doesn't want to pay to a publisher for the idea, it's a great solution.
The NZ & Au copies come in a box ☺ just bought it for a good friend's engagement present.

It seems that there is a newer version of this game with a more colorful cover and maybe not a tin.
Of course you didn't know much about Detective Club before you got it. The first rule of Detective Club is not to talk about Detective Club!
There is also a free app for this that that replaces the notepads so you write the word on the app. It works great.
What app? :)
The app is clubbeeper. It substitutes the notepads. I dont know if its out in the states ot not but here in europe we have it

I completely agree with Tom on this one! Superb game!

Want to play this bitty just using my Dixit cards and bunnies.

To me it sounds closer to The Chameleon than to anything else

You can always tell a game will be getting a good review when you can see wear on the components!
Its just an graphic effect

Idk to me having Mysterium and Dixit, I see no reason, to also own this game...

I'm just going to buy some mini pads and add it to my dixit box. brand new board game
Meeeeh, tired with same type of game like Dixit, When I dream, etc. Even mysterium is meeehhh....
It's simple, then you shouldn't play that much with these games. But only those play much with these, who looooove the genre, so...

When I Dream is a word game, and nothing to do with the pictures.
