Throughout the vid I was like "meh, sure, whatev" and then at the end "Damn, that is a fantastic paintjob!." Kudo's.
Haha! Thanks for watching! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Great technique. Those tentacles have come out really well. Looks like a mouthfull of writhing worms.
Thank you! Sooo glad they look like worms! I was worried they look like rat tail, thus the purple at the tips so not to look like rat tails. 😅
I wish I had found this channel sooner. Great stuff!
Thank you sir. Hope you enjoy the newer videos as well. 😊🎨🎨🎨
DUDE ! THIS IS THE BEST TUTORIAL THAT I EVER SEE ! GREAT VIDEO !
Oh thanks man. 😊🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratos thank YOU man ! In my community they are a bit... Bad when it comes to teaching new ones to paint but your tutorials have made everything so much easier for me! Really thank you! Will there be more with the slapchop technique?
I really like that you put the wave effect only on one side. Looks very realistic.
Yes bro, I thought that there are no waves on two opposite directions. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
The glazed highlights really give the transparent layers a nice contrast boost. Great look!
And your comment gave this video extra boost! Thank you! Glad you liked the video. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
love it, i have a cthulhu in need of a paint job so this helps!
Awesome! Perfect timing I guess. Thanks for watching! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Thanks for the underpainting tip. Never dawned on me to start with a light base like that.
Welcome! Thanks for watching! 😊🎨🎨🎨
Fantastic... I don't think I would have the patience to do all those suckers though...
Thanks! Ahhh yeah... took me a good hour for those I think. 😅
This is a very smart content strategy. Airbrushes are a significant (and loud) investment, so more people will be willing to try dry layering. just don't call it "overbrushing"
Seriosly, WHO for the life of me calls them overbrushing bro? Heavy drybrushing is more apt, but "overbrushing" is funny bro. 😅😂🤣
Always glad to watch your work always learning new techniques
Thank you for watching! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
More Bam Don, that was a great one! I’d love to see your take on the Reaper Cthulhu.
Or a dragon… a big boss dragon with drool and teeth with a Beholder friend.
I have the Archaon, no dragons though... the Reaper is the newer model? Thanks a ton bro! Also thanks for being a Patron! 💙🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratos it’s a little older, couple years, but like 3 maybe. It’s a pretty sweet model in the bones line but some great detail and a great size. I recently got an air brush partly so I could tackle this guy and their Tiamat, Ma’al Drakar.
@@jasoncarpenter5974 Googling... Goodluck with the airbrush bro. Should be fun! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Just got into glazing so this video really helps to understand the power of glazing
Glazing is easy with mediums... not with water though. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratos yeah I am trying it with water starting out. Its a bit difficult to work with I agree. What mediums do you recommend?
Awesome setup
Thank you. Most ( almost all ) are sponsored stuff though. I cannot afford them on my own. 😅
wow great dry brushing... will be watching more of your video's... Thank you
Thank you! Painting a few more in this method. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Omg outstanding
Thank you so much for watching! Appreciate it! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Amazing skill thanks for the great video
Thank you! Appreciate he comment! ☺️
This is by far the most amazing use of green I’ve ever have seen! I am going to try to replicate it on my Orks now!
Haha Jacob! Glad you find the painting amusing. Thanks for watching! 😊🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratosAt the end of the video you show the colours you use to add the dark and lighter highlights and shadows but don’t show you performing this. Is the full video of you painting this model on your patreon?
looks amazing!
Thank you! 😊🎨🎨🎨
What can I say Don ?!
I think this technique will accompany me for a long time 😉
It is efficient and the results are absolutely top level 😱
I really like the drybrush technique as you do it and having tried it personally, I can assure you that using at least three colors gives a spectacular volume to the figure! 😍
Of course, it becomes more complicated to control the technique and the color, but it can be done 😉
Thanks always for your videos! 🙌🏻
P.s. Sergio is a living myth ... but you're not joking either 🤣🤣
This technique was an experiment gone right i think. But yes, more colors ( not necessarily paints ), means more volume and more complex. Agree, Sergio is a myth. 😅😂🤣🎨🎨🎨
So glad this was recommended to me! I'm about to paint an army for a game and this technique will be super helpful! Subscribed almost immediately!
So glad you found my small channel sir. Thank you so much for the sub! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Incredibly beautifully painted!
Thank you Tapac! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Perfection!🤩
Oh thank you! 😊🎨🎨🎨
Who knew Cthulhu was an ork. A+
He is! He is a water ork! 😅🤣😂🎨🎨🎨
That was a great video! Thanks for also showing how to do the water effects on the base, they look really good!
Thank you for watching! Appreciate it man! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Great job!
Thank you bro! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Great video 👍
Thank you! Glad you liked the video! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Thanks for video I appreciate mix of colors a color recipies...it is inspirating for me always. I look forward toTHE BIG ONE CTHULHU :-)
You are most welcome! Thank you for watching! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Wow, amazing colors! I love it! 💚💜
Thank you! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
This is very helpful for me,I have bought DMD too but I don't have idea to paint the miniature.Thank you my dear teacher😍😍
By the way, will you paint some zombies from ZOMBICIDE series?
You are most welcome! Zombicide! I might, but I have a line p of commissions until March bro. 😅🎨🎨🎨
After watching other videos about painting figures.
You did quite well - it was impossible to repeat it with my own figure.
comment. I would like information with what brushes it was used it dry brush (to create different layers)
and in more detail where and what highlights you applied (this would lengthen the video, but it would be extremely useful)
Thank you! I will try next time. Cheers!
Me ha encantado el acabado, una excelente explicación de aplicando de las diferentes técnicas..
Gracias amigo! técnicas simples para buenos resultados. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
That looks really good, looks an easy way to get great results 👍 good job man
Yes bro. Super easy stuff. Also glazing with mediums is so much easier than just water. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Happy 2022! Outstanding job indeed. Very impressive.
Thank you as always brother! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Fantastic video, thank you Don! I will try to apply these techniques and colors to my Death Guard, I think it would match them very well
Deathguard! My army too... Let me pint a quick one for you. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Thank you, Don! It's incredible technic 👍👍👍
You are most welcome, experiments gone right I think. 😅🎨🎨🎨

Thank you! Appreciate it a ton. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Awesome
Awesome! I painted him myself but with contrast paints a few months ago. But seeing yours, especially the base, makes me think about going back and adding this great water effect! May I ask how you sealed the cut edges from the original base? I saw some white looking stuff you put there, but what is it?
Oh... those are wood glue and white stones ( pebbles ) sir. Thanks for watching! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratos Thanks! Now I have to find out where to get those bases. ;) How did you glue the mini onto the new base?
Amazing work!
Thank you sir! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Since Watching your videos, my painting has advanced dramatically, allowing myself to enjoy this hobby much further! so thank you so much for sharing your skills and techniques with us.
Can I also ask, what is in the little clear bottle you use with the Glaze medium?
Oh thank you! Appreciate it a ton sir! That small bottle is just distilled water. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
awesome painting skills !! where the model comes from?
Thank you! Cmon Games sir. 😊🎨🎨🎨
Do you ever use makeup brushes for drybrushing I find they are way better than the hobby dry brushes
Yes bro. They are awesome and super cheap. However, they damage faster specially if my kids burrow them, and do not clean them afterwards. But I agree, they are awesome! ☺️🎨🎨🎨

Superb outcome! I can’t stand that dusty finish so I’ve walked away from drybrushing for quite some time. Maybe I’ll have to return now that I have those Artis Opus brushes and see if glazing can improve things. Interesting tip on the medium, I have some but haven’t played with it much since not a lot of folks mention it helping them out.
Mediums have been around for ages... for fine artists bro. I have half liter bottles for acrylic canavas painting. They are awesome for glazing. I really do not understand why miniature painters overthin paints with water and use for glazes tbh. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Amazing! I’m learning so much and am so glad to see people using Vallejo paints. Question: how would this process differ if you used paints instead of the inks? Would the process be different or just the shades of colors?
Thanks! Paints are opaque in comparison to inks sir. Eve if you add mediums or water down your paints to wash consistency, effects will be different in comparison to inks. ☺️
Awesome work. Its more pronounced like K'thulhu
There you go! Thank you for watching! Thanks for the correction. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratos my pleasure. Thanks for the Videos. I learned so much
As usual, this was a fantastic video... How do you decide what color to use the first time you drybrush. I mean, after watching this video and the other one where you painted a sort of a Pumpkin-spider, I wonder what would be the criteria.
Hmmm, great question bro! I will discuss it in my next few videos. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratos Ok Don, I'll be waiting for it 😅
Recently found your channel. Love the background music! Where did you get it? Amazing work too.
@audiolibrary bro. Thank you! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
You need more subscribers.
Have you considered reaching out to major people like Pete the Wargamer, Goobertown Hobbies, or Adeptus Ridiculous?
Thanks! I don't know them. 😅
Great video. Do you have a list of the colours you used for this Miniature?
Intrigued by the Vallejo base effects jars. D’you reckon one jar will last a very long time? Thank you for pacing it so I could take notes. Especially which paint you used at each stage.
Just adding the voice over of the water texture video. How to use and how to enhance finish. Will upload in a couple of hours. Saludos! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Awesome result, last time i tried dry brushing the paints dried very fast on my brush, should i use something like paint retarder to keep the paint from drying so fast? What do u recommend?
Hmmmm, where do you live sir? Retarder medium could work, or just add more water. But you still need to unload the paints before drybrushing. ☺️
Don Suratos Romania, are u asking because of the climate?
@@TheIcemanModdeler Yes bro... hot and dry, cold and dry? or like me hot and humid?
Молодец.Очень круто.
Thank you! 💙💙💙🎨🎨🎨
Oh wow man.
Thank you! 😊🎨🎨🎨
Great tutorial!! Thank you for sharing this knowledge.
I am a beginner when it comes to painting with a brush and i got a question. What is actually the difference between painting with glazing medium and painting with regular paints. Because in the latest few videos I noticed that you almost always use a little glazing medium. I would like to learn the difference between with or without glazing medium and why you use it so often? Thank you! 😊
Oh, Layering without a bit of medium, if done right ( mix a lot of colors ), yields great results too. My older videos did not utilize the glaze medium. Adding a bit of medium, adds transparency to the paints, does your layering seem smoother than usual, even if you do not blend or mix too many colors. I hope I explained it well enough bro. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratos I understand! It simply makes the paint proces easier and therefore faster, smoother lines and more faded edges. I understand now 👍 will need to buy some glazing medium then!
@@lureblanks Great! Have fun bro! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Can you do the same with Yog Sothot o the Black Goat
Oh another question: do you more “glaze down” in terms of value or up? I find with glazing I almost always lose some value, but maybe I could also be doing to opposite to glaze higher in value?
I glaze up and down bro. The trick is, to use paints that are pretty opaque in the first place. Like deack tan and ivory for light colors ( most darker colors are opaque anyways ). Reds and yellows are kinda transparent though, super fun to glaze, but do not add too much mediums. Cheers! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Have you tried other glaze medium like liquitex? Can't find vallejo glaze medium everywhere 😥
Don't tell Vallejo, but I have huge bottles of Golden Matte medium and Satin Glazing medium. They work well with vallejo, however, on miniatures, these mediums are not as durable. So be careful in handling the mini while painting. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratos thanks!!! I'll just wait for the glaze medium to go back on stock
@@shawnmarvin14 Matte medium is also nice. I recon nicer actually. ☺️
contrast is nice, water is awesome
Yes. I just prefer my Vallejos and mediums.
Can you add color to the water texture?
Yes you can, but inks is the best, as inks are transparent paints too. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratos cool i think i want to use the water effect to create a blood pool for a custom vampire miniature base.
