Undeterred, the pigeon tucked into the mix, its large beak scooping up seeds with impressive efficiency. While some backyard bird enthusiasts grumbled about the pigeon's dominance, I found its presence strangely comforting. It was a reminder that the garden wasn't just for the dainty and brightly colored birds, but a haven for all creatures, big and small. After its fill, the pigeon would waddle off, casting a regal glance back at the feeder before disappearing into the branches of the old oak tree. The other birds, emboldened by its departure, would return, their frenetic energy a delightful counterpoint to the pigeon's stoic visits. The bird feeder had become a stage, and the wood pigeon, a surprisingly endearing, if slightly awkward, star.❎
