{AMV} Animegraphy 2017

- Well, it's that time of year again. Overall, I think this year was pretty good for anime. We got more KonoSuba, SNK, and BNHA, plus some new ones like Kobayashi-san, Made in Abyss, and... that one. You know what I'm talking about.
Anime: drive.google.c...
I was so sad when qyll stopped making these, but I'm super glad someone stepped up to take his place. Huge improvement on last year's video as well. Keep it up :)
A lot of comments comparing this to Qyll but Verathin is their own artist. Qyll was excellent and of course everyone aspires for that but each artist is different and has something else to offer. Verathin has done very well with the past two years, I've tried doing my own these past 2 years as well, but can't compare to Verathin or AlexCamper (who makes fantastic stuff as well). We all got our own styles and they'll never exactly be like Qyll's, but that doesn't mean they're still not impressive.
But anyway, great video again this year Verathin, mine is still not as good but I'm continuing to improve, so hopefully I can get to a much higher level with this upcoming year.
people are bound to comment on it despite, as the term animagraphy is largely represented by qulls masterpieces
First of all: I REALLY like this. Of course it's not qyll's level (yet!), but it definitely had the same kind of atmosphere . I got goosebumps watching! Please keep it up, you have a lot of potential.
My two cents for advice: The selection of scenes and clips in combination with the music is really, really nice and fitting. That's mostly why the video is so atmospheric to me. I don't think there is a lot room for approvement there, actually.
What I would put most effort into in the future are the transitions. Your video kind of lacked uniformity. For me, what stood out the most in qyll's videos was this insane feeling of all the shows "melting" into one homogeneous thing.
That's a lot of work though, so I completely understand if you simply have no time to do that. I certainly wouldn't, lol. Have you ever considered asking someone from the community for help?
And lastly, I know that a lot of your comments (including mine heh) compare you to qyll a lot of times. Since he was THE animegraphy maker for a long time and people are looking for a kind of "substitute" now, that's understandable.
BUT you shouldn't try to imitate him too much. Or, to put it differently, you don't have to.
Idk if you did actually, but it definitely felt that way. I mean not that you wouldn't be able to, but being a little more experimental would add a lot more originality. Well, I just want you to do your own thing, ya know.
(I'm terrible with words but yeah keep doing what you're doing)
Just wanted to let you know I keep rewatching this fairly regularly for both the music/sound work as well as a great way to try and find more anime from last year. Thanks for putting all the time and effort into making this
The increase in quality from 2016 is insane, Great Job
Each year, the amv anime of the year is a video that I aaaaaaaaalwaaaaayyyys wait with impatience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Verathin It does!!!!!!! You do such a great job *^*
The 2016 Animegraphy was the first AMV of yours I saw, can't believe it's been a year since then! To compact such a good year of anime into less 7 minutes is a feat, and yet you've pulled it off again! The flow of scenes together is really nice (especially the back half of the last song), and you're transitions between songs has definitely improved from last years. I love your song choices too ("Show Me What I'm Looking For" made me cheer lol), and by the end of the video I had a big smile on my face. The effort you put into this really shines through. Keep up the good work!
Firstly, I want to say that you have almost mastered syncing the images to the emotional tone of the songs. There are a few transition issues left (like color and direction movement). I feel the only thing you really need to work on most is the wording tone.
First, the movement mashup. A clip transition early on is a good example. 1:05 you have a hand reaching up and out. This draws the eyes to the top center of the screen. Then you have a clip of Deku, but he comes up from the bottom. This brakes the eye-track and causes people to suddenly move their eyes down. Then the clip of a moon at 1:12 has they eyes draw back up to see it. Switching the second two clips might have made for a better eye-track.
The hand reaching up, drawing the eye to the top portion of the screen, then the moon at the top on the next clip. As their eyes slowly go down to see the rest of the landscape, the clip of Deku would transition and their eyes would naturally fall to him. It would be less jarring.
I tend to use simple direction when attempting this. Top, bottom, left, right of the screen. It helps keep it simple, and still gives me error room. Qyll seemed to try for as many exact matches as he could, though that is very time consuming. He also 'seemed' to use some video edits, though that might just be because he matched them so well.
Next color direction. This is much simpler to explain. There were a few scenes in this where you go from a bright blue to a sudden dark red. Or a mostly spring green to a sudden nights sky. The color change is jarring. You want to have at least one clip spacing large color differences. To add transition you want to go from bright happy sky blue, to a dusk, then to night. This keeps a slight sense of logical progression. Or you can go with color progression, going from a bright sky, to a navy blue ocean, to a dark lonely black toned background. Its less logical realism (but this is a clip mashup, so logic between clips isn't a big deal), but it still transitions better than going straight from bright to dark. It seems that you generally get the idea of color tone itself, you tend to use spring, fall, winter colors in tandem well. So transitioning from one to the other, and from light to dark is the only area that I see color wise that was jarring.
Finally the words. The words need to match the tone of the song. In Qyll's videos, the dialogue was almost like an explanation point on the tone. Happy cute things on the happy cute song, romantic and emotional hard things on the romantic song, serious battle words on the serious song. Out of all of Qyll's abilities, this might be the hardest to emulate. Just because of the sheer time involved with trying to find clips that mach the tone of the music and visuals.
I would say that the section starting at 2:10 and lasting to the end of the first song was very good. There were a slight few clips that were jarring, but for the most part it all felt very connected.
The fact that you improved so much in just one year is amazing, you could be on Qyll's level next year or the year after if you continue to jump in ability like this.
It's a monumental task to try and weave all these differing shows match match parts of them, much less built a cohesive theme. You're a beast to manage this, and I applaud your efforts and just like when I watched the previous one, the video really drove home that there is just...so...much...anime...
Thank you for doing this. I look forward it it every year and I really appreciate the work you put into it. Im pretty sure the world would explode if an Animegraphy wasnt done every year. Again, THANK YOU!!!
Back in 2012, I watched the first Animegraphy, and I've been looking out for the next one at the end of each year. I love how you've decided to continue where Qyll stopped. You've immensely improved from your 2016 version. I really, really love this one. People will tell you Qyll still used to make them better and they wouldn't be wrong, but there's nothing wrong with that. Qyll had his style and you've undoubtedly got your own. You might take on his "legacy", but no one can tell you that you have to accomplish what Qyll has in the past. Just do your own thing and keep making em more and more awesome each year. You are most definitely fit to continue what he started. I'll anxiously be waiting for the end of 2018. Good luck!
YES!!!!! Thank you SO much for coming back to do this again. Your Animegraphy from last year was my favorite among the bunch, and this one was even better. You've got a fan in me, keep up the good work.
This is a massive improvement on 2016!! LOVE IT
Thank you!!!!
Great job! That was really impressive of you, so much work for us to enjoy Animegraphy this year. Of course you are not Qyll but it doesn't make your content bad or stuff, it has a little bit different feeling to it plus minor imperfections. But still, progress is huge, even mindblowing! I belive that your next Animegraphy will be even better! And thank you for all that hard work.
Thanks a lot for yet another Animegraphy of your's. It's good to see a tradition still going on, after Qyil stopped it.
You have improved A LOT since your last animegraphy. You are really getting closer to qyll's level. Keep up!! And thank you, you made a truly beautiful video.
Wow!! Sugoi!! Thumbs up to you...your animegrapy 2017 are not disappoint me....almost all series in there.....Thank you very much for continuing Qyll legacy....

#NowWillWait4YourAnimegraphy2018
The first part seemed like it should've gone last. The middle was spot on!! The end was weird and quieter. Overall you still make the best ones.
This is great! I'm so glad someone like you took over animegraphy since Qyll isn't doing it anymore, and watching this one after your first from 2016, this is a huge improvement on an already great attempt at capturing the same magic in your own way. The song transition, scene choice, and speaking parts are way smoother (not that I'm any expert--I've only ever tried to make one amv) and I enjoyed this one a lot. Do one for 2018 when the time comes, please! I can't wait to see how amazing the next will be at this rate!
Ive grown to look forward to this every year. Another great one!
Verathin Almost less than a month to november & really hope you make the 2018 edition...cannot wait for it...good luck on make it & being well progress...you are continuation of animegraphy legacy...
That was freaking amazing! Looking forward to your next one. That must be hours and hours of anime you must watch to be able to put together such a piece... Keep up the great work!
I (as well as much of the Mac community) appreciate you taking up the mantle and wow I was impressed. I would lower the volume of the character dialogues a bit and honestly you could cut the whole video down by at least a minute. 7 min even for a year long amv is still lengthy. Seriously amazing work though! Not trying to knock ya, just giving some insight as best I can. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I didn't know that this video existed. Like always, great work. Waiting for your next work.
Just came here from AlexCamper's 2018 Animegraphy, looking forward to Verathin's 2018 one hopefully around December.
I'm looking forward to the 2018 edition! And I'm glad you take up the animegraphy, you're really up to it
You improved so much from last year. Excellent job and keep pushing your editing because you're only going to get better.
I am currently studying Animation and I am also edit videos so I know how much time and work goes into a video. Hey if you need some help with your vids, I am happy to lend a hand or provide feedback.
Wouldn't be a problem.
I think we found a great successor to qyll animegraphy, some minor hiccups, but given the fact it’s your second time working on a amv like this, I can’t wait for 2018’s one, your gonna go far kid
Thanks for making these animegraphy!
Please keep doing them in the future they are so entertaining to watch
Every work you do is amazing and life changing dude!!! Keep up the good work!!! 👍🏻
Much improved over last years attempt well done!
Outstanding Editing there. Close getting Qyll Levels. His is Editing is so much pressure god... Just don't over do it, and hoping for 2018 soon. But Still Amazing!
You can just feel the love put into this.
Love it.. Amazing job.. Actually looking for qyll but found this one.. Love it.. 👍👍👍
Nice improvements compared to last year, keep going, you rock ;) And again thank you for keeping the tradition of Animegraphy even after Qyll stopped it last year ^^
Oh boy that's way better than your last one ! Thanks for your work !
Since I have seeing your animegraphy and astefor's, (which, if you haven't seen it, I really recommend you to see it because it may work as an example to make an animegraphy, but you don't have to) I personally believe that you and him are the only ones who have the biggest potential to make the animegraphy, on other words, you guys are our only hope for us, for that, I'll just say that thank you for your great effort and keep doing it! I already noticed the best parts from your animegraphy, which is the second part, the song, the rhythm and the emotions are perfectly done, and, well, for the other parts l, I can say that those aren't bad at all, in fact, the first part had a great atmosphere, but, they lacked that feeling of importance that the second part had, perhaps it was because of the dialogues and the sound defect, and finally, the third part wast the only one that needs to be improved with dialogues that can express love, sadness, happiness and rage but with a topic in common, it may look hard, but, if you reflect yourself with your emotions, believe me, it's gonna be a piece of cake! Anyway, I just hope you're still at it, but at the same time, enjoying it.
Oh, by the way, the dialogue from the begging of the second past was the most meaningful and sentimental with the song that you chose.
@@Verathin exactly! (gosh, I didn't expect you would answer that fast XD) But, seriously, thanks for answering, I was starting to think that you were already inactive 😅
This was even better than the last one!
The last song was a little too quiet though. ^^,
great, thanks for still doing this amv, hope to see you again next year!
That was really good! I loved the way you transitioned from each segment felt very natural. I might suggest adding some clips with audio in the build-up points of the songs that match to really pull people's attention. Still though great job so glad you did this thanks.
Hey,
I recently found your channel, more due to an coincidence, and I really have to say: your AMVs are great. I hope you'll continue with the great work and I'm already looking forward to the "{AMV} Animegraphy 2018"!
PS: Thanks for always putting in the names of the animes!
I got goosebumbs from this. Amazing work!!:) I also have to point out, that compared to your last one, which was also great, the quality has increased. Like some other users said the syncing of the music is better and thescenes connect better as well.
I hope to see more of you in the future ^-^
maybe youre qyll successor, great work man will watching next or maybe following year clip if you still doing this great work.
You're getting very good at that !!! I'm waiting for the next one :P And don't compare yourself to anyone, Qyll is Qyll and you are you.
2024 this might be still best amv
Outstanding! I enjoyed all of it!!
It was better one from the ones that people try to recreate, but sorry, i still miss the ones that Qyll created for us and right now, after that passed time since he did this last time, im even ready to pay him to do next one :P
not sure if you saw the try to recreat his work by reddit community, even with guidlines given by qyll himself they didnt manage to do it :P (and even by only guidlines its amazing how complex it is!)
he and his skills are special, hope the time he got by not doing next ones went into something amazing :)
SHOULD WE RAISE A FUNDRAISER TO PAY QYLL TO MAKE ANIMEGRAPHY 2018???
I totally missed this somehow. This is significantly better than your 2016-graphy. You got a bunch of feedback already that covers most of what I feel is correct, but I still have some things to add.
I was kind of confused in the first sequence, but I get it now after watching it several times. Something about this first part doesn't appeal to me as much as last years, even if the cuts are better. I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to think or feel this time around. There were some good moments though that synced with the music that I felt were so good. I think the transition from awe-inspiring worlds and wonder to the more awe-inspiring action moments is a bit jarring. The scenes are just right, just not in the right order.
Part 2 - I don't have much to say but good job. By far my favorite sequence for this year. Are romantic sequences easier to put together, just curious. One or two scenes I would've cut out and replaced, that's all.
Part 3 - Has a good start and its a bit chaotic, but its a nice chaos. I'm not sure what else to say about this one.
As Keoni said before in the comments, some work on storyboarding, audio levels, and quotes will improve your storytelling and make this project even more of "yours." I can't wait to see next years and seeing your improvements then! Have a good year!
Wooo! Christmas came early. Great choice of music this time, extra points for putting in Symphogear AXZ, Great stuff Verathin! You're so close to that Qyll level now.
I was inspired by Qyll myself and I too made an AMV. As a fellow editor/creator I would appreciate if you checked it out. I put a lot of passion in to it. ruclips.net/video/Wf6Ayb3eRo0/видео.html
Hope to see another great animegraphy from you this 2018.
You can see the improvement, it's really good
That little ripple at 4:17 was incredible
oh you are so good I have turly find a person to continue this hard work!
Hiya! It's me again, I think I commented on your last one before.
You've really improved this time around! The scenes are well connected, the motion is there, and while I still have some nitpicks here and there, it's actually just more of polishing how you go about it. The style is already there. Nice job!
My main critique for this one however, is that there's really this lack of dialogue and sfx (which I don't really blame you for since isolating sound is a pain)
The thing with voice lines is, it evokes memories for us of memorable things we watched during the year, and the sfx adds to the intensity of the scene you're making. Think of it of how intense final episodes of some anime are when they start playing the Opening or the main recurring theme from the OST (You say Run, anyone?)
The music, layered with familiar sounds, human voices, and more emotion makes the scene more powerful than just watching the scene play out with just the music. There's this feeling of ambience that's gained from hearing noise along with music, which is a technique commonly used by musicians like Kosemura Akira in his Polaroid Piano, and by moviemakers like Makoto Shinkai in Kimi no Na wa or 5cm per second.
As for references from Qyll, I think it's mostly seen best from his 2014 video, which really makes extensive use of this. It's my personal favorite, tbh. He generally goes with a pattern that strings memorable or one-line dialogue that works without need of much context, building up tension with the music before it goes to what would usually be the chorus of a song. It happens with the section that featured "Raise Your Weapon", and then he let the scenes and the music carry the intensity for the bass drop instrumental, adding in some spice by including sfx. He then adds more dialogue along in with the music to give a break and a freshen up, to maintain the viewer's attention.
But perhaps the best part of the video is how he built up the part that used "Your Hand in Mine", stringing the dialogue together and layering them, once again building up tension before releasing it with the section that happens in the last minutes of the song itself. You'll notice that they also added sfx to increase the ambience and somewhat bittersweet, melancholic feel the song has, particularly with the fireworks and the crow cries + beautiful background shots.
Also, try to avoid using dialogue that over scenes that don't really fit over it--- like the dialogue in the 3rd part over the ruckus happening onscreen sometimes felt rather random. An example would be how qyll used enigmatic or even edgy dialogue over the 2013 video's intro sequence. Even if the character saying the line isn't present, it sits well with the scene and music you hear.
Still, overall well done! You're doing a great job continuing the nostalgia dose we need every now and then. Not many of us are willing to take the time to make something like this, and I really appreciate your effort.
Like I said, I think the qyll-style we came to love is already there, it just needs polishing! Thanks for your hard work!
Love these Animegraphy videos.
siempre espero cada año por tus vídeos buena música hermano
thanks you for this....I felt good for 7 minutes...I have to go back to my shitty life now
Holy shit. This was literally incredible.
VERATHIN I LOVE YOU SO MUCH
THIS IS SO AMAZING!!!
Just wanted to see an amimegraphy, this is really good, also saw all the comparisons, XD well it was bound to happen, though to me this lacked a certain something, hmm, action? a powerful flavor? idrk how to explain it, it was good, really good, but there's a 'but', naturally you can ignore this, but I'll be hanging around to see the 2018 edition, gl
+Verathin OMG I was just thinking how the song "the nights" by avicii should be included in an animegraphy and I was about to recommend it to you and then BOOM 4:58 THE NIGHTS BY AVICII THANK YOU SO MUCH
Big improvement from last year! Keep it up!
This is very qyll esq. Keep it up, the quality and potential is there.
This might not be as good as Qyll but it still gives that chill in some parts of the vido which i loved with Qylls work. So all i can say is keep up the good work!
Lovely again like last year, i was here when you uploaded the animegraphy 2016 and im here again and impressed. You should be proud!
Verathin why is it saying the video is not available? What happened 😭
Whoa... Masamune-Kun was THIS YEAR? The fact that Demi-Chan got, like, 2 seconds made me a little sad, but I get it. There was a lot to show and only so much time.
Another great animegraphy that you made keep it up!
Amazing. Do you have a higher quality file lying around? It only goes up to 720p on youtube. My only issue was the font type and size - but mostly the size; it was a bit big.
I hate how people are comparing this to qyll. Just appreciate it. If you want to compare it to something compare it to the first one this person did.
Something beauty
Not to be nit-picky, but for your next Animegraphy (should you decide to make one), you definitely need to include the latest Pretty Cure (which for 2018 would be Hugtto). The franchise always comes out with a show every year and I feel like those kickass magical girls deserve some spotlight! Otherwise, I love your improvement, and I hope that you can make these kinds of AMVs fit into your own style and make them work for you! Being compared to qyll sounds like a huge honor, but I think it would be better if you did something that fit your style and your original tastes. I love watching AMVs and know a little bit about editing, so my advice might not be solid, but I hope this helps!
This is great! I cant wait to see more improvement with the next one. Youve earned a sub
Waah I really love the atmosphere of the first part (that style is always my favorite part afterall haha), the last part was a little weak in my opinion because the scenes didn't match the song as well as the rest and the volume was low, but overall it was a great summary of 2017.
I was surprised to see Sand Planet in there as well
Really good work , you are the legit heir of qyll
Beautiful, next best thing to qyll’s amvs
this was really good. as an artist, it must have been very tough to decide to take up the "animegraph" series. and undoubtedly you'll always be compared to Qyll. you'll do it yourself a lot too. but this is your art, this is your heart and soul put into it. and everyone who compares your art to Qyll's will only be thinking of the best from his work and the lowest points from yours. but I want to say that some of the shots in this combined with the music are even better than what Qyll did. you certainly have a way to go, but you've certainly come a long way. great work, cant wait for the next one. my one gripe is that you used a fair bit of footage from anime OPs and EDs, and while its fine those shots often feel "cheaper" due to being relatively disconnected.
te quedo espectacular felicidades sigue asi compa
God job my man! Your quality improved a lot from last year!
I look forward to next years!
P.S. I’d say go with your own style now, don’t compare yourself to qyll, be you ;)
wooww ... amazing .. i should share this to others
Hey you did great this is amazing
As a beginner AMV editor. I really like it
It’s just wanted me to go back what a I really love doing
Awesome Work!
Maybe the last song's volume was muted too much?
I like this a lot, but the third song is really quiet compared to the rest of the video.
Gerardo job, however i think you use to many scenes from the sames animes, how boku no hero, i count aprox 5.
me encantan tus videos por favor no dejes de hacerlos :,v
¡No te preocupes! No me detendré.
@@Verathin al final lo hicistes pero se entiende.
I love it! Awesome work.. :)
good job, but there is a few major things that need improvement to get closer to what qyll did. first make sure the sound is level across the board, don't have half the video be quieter, use a collage of quotes from different anime mixed together to set the tone and create a feeling of something new and not deja vu. and lastly keep working at it, you have improved so much since your last one, study and practice goes a long way, work on your storyboard ability and move past candid shots to create a story out of other.
Keoni you
this is great you have improved alot since last year thanks for doing this animegraphy's are the best
when I saw Animegraphy 2016, I like just watching anime footage combined. of course different from the work of Qyll, he can create "a work, from various Anime" (I hope you understand my point). but when I saw Animegraphy 2017, I saw the progress of your video. it looks like your hard work to find a variety of continuous movements.
my advice, you should learn about "Continity" so that each movement is connected. so you can make "a work"
keep up the spirit, the journey is still long. even Qyll takes 5 years.
The best of these is the one from 2013.
volume is too low, for some scenes could have been a better choice but definitely you have improved very fast
This was great!
You improve year by year
I think that a good thing to work on is the dialog. i feel like alot of dialog is "missing". of course, that is if this is compared to qylls. its GOOD. but it also feels slightly "empty" when there is almost no dialog.
You def are getting better! you can tell how much progress you made, its incradible. just pointed out something that can improve (: good luck, if you're making a 2018 verison im def waiting to watch it.
This is really amazing! Pretty sure you're going to surpass me if you keep going next year.
Hi! Can you give us the playlist of the songs you used? Thank you! Nice video :)
Sorry this is a bit late, but you've improved so much since the last one! You may be tired of hearing it, but I feel your editing isn't quite up to Qyll's level, but it's clear that you're getting a hang of what works and what doesn't, and it seems you took my 2016's video advice to heart. If you'd like another in depth critique, I'd be happy to do one in a couple of days when I have the time. I hope we can expect another one of these from you next year! Side note: still need to watch Uchoten Kazoku season 2 (along with a billion other shows).
Okay, first off, again you've made huge improvements. I won't critique you too much since you seem to be getting the hang of it more, so I think that some will just get better during your next one. So, the first thing I will say, is you can edit even faster. Qyll, whose editing I think we both hold in high regard, realized you can cut insanely fast. Animation is unique in the world of film in that there is much less information, so you can read it much faster. In fact, animation has some tricks that make it even more readable, such as smears and wipes, and often playing with hue, value, and saturation with the foreground relative to the background to guide your eye exactly where they want it. Paired with matching similar cuts, which you can read even faster due to your eye having to adjust between clips, you can cut to just a few tenths of a second. You seem to have picked up on this quite well, and you can especially see it around @2:30. Of course, you don't want the whole thing to be cut in this manner, because than it would get stale, and tiresome to watch. This is where something else to keep in mind comes in: lead in, lead out, or ebb and flow. Again, you seem to have picked up on this somewhat. Music tends to start slow, lead in something more intense, than lower back down as a means of closing out the song. In the beginning, you start at a pretty good speed, though the shot that starts @0:22 feels like it over stays its welcome by a bit. Same with the shot @0:34 in the beginning. The previous shot has a faster feel due to the camera movement, which is then kind of stifled by staticism of him just standing there, but picks up again with his head and the camera movement, which is good. The really dynamic shot and pick up in editing speed @0:41 is good for the lift in the music. The editing there is pretty good for a while. The shot @0:49 could be a couple frames shorter (nitpicking), and the shot immediately after @0:51 also over stays it's welcome. When editing, I ask myself what the shot is supposed to convey. Generally, you want to cut as short a shot as you can to convey what you want to convey. Sometimes you want to cut extremely slowly to instill a sense of calm or stillness (e.g. Mushishi), but I don't view that as something that shot should convey. You had your stillness in the beginning, and now you're leading into something different. In that shot, after the second step lands, I've already registered that she is walking, so you can move on. The fact that she comes to a standstill, sets up for a shot next in the sequence in that story. However, this is a compilation, so we don't get the next shot, and it sort of just stops it and leaves us hanging. I deliberated a while on the next shot @0:54, but decided it worked well, for the subtle slowness, and a good setup for the pick up @0:56, which is a fairly long shot (relative to what I'm talking about), but works well with the fast camera movement. After that, the editing works pretty well (there are a couple things here and there, but I won't dissect every tiny thing I think works or doesn't work). @1:23, I think you can pick up your editing just a little bit (post edit note: the eye shot immediately before works really well). I, again, deliberated on whether that first shot works. I think it might be a tiny bit too long, but for some reason it also just sits well with me. @1:25, @1:29, and @1:39 are all a tiny bit too long, but still good editing. From @1:49 to @2:03 is quite good, maybe just playing with the timing a bit more (side note: shot @1:49 is really cool and works really well there). From @2:03 all the way to @3:06 is super fucking solid editing. The cuts are tight, the shots that hold a little longer break it up and give it a sense of rhythm, the slow down @2:43 is the right speed. Kudos. My one and only complaint is @2:10, I feel like that could have been two shots. Here wiping the frame with the dust almost does it, so it still works well, and I'm really nitpicking. So concludes the critique of the first song.
Okay, on to song 2. It generally works pretty well. You definitely cut to major beats in the song, so it just fits pretty well. @3:41 till @3:47 it seems you drifted a little from that formula, so kudos for being adventurous, and it could work, but I think it's a little too slow. @3:59, that's a really good use of match cuts, and same @4:14. @4:15 shot works well, staying fast, but a little slower to match the dropping of the instrumental. @4:16, the zoom fade in to the next shot I don't like much, which is mostly personal taste, but I also feel the shots back to back of the same thing from different views is a little redundant, when there are other things you could be moving on to. No more major complaints for the rest of the song. Just general subtle timing things throughout.
Okay, final stretch. Third song, again, works pretty well. This critique is burning me out, so I won't go too in depth. Shot @5:06 is a bit too long. @5:27 works well as a pause before the subtle drop. @2:58 the shot works well while the ship is in shot, but once it's out of sight, it's a little too static and lingers kind of awkwardly. The slow speed in the stuff following works pretty well with the music. @5:59, the speed pick up works quite well. Pretty much everything after that is good. Again, a couple subtle timing issues, but I think you get the idea, and I'm confident you'll work out those kinks with more experience. Also, the lead out shot up into the sky, works quite well. Well, there you have it. This critique took quite a bit longer than I expected. Remember, I am far from the best editor or critic, and everything I've said is personal taste, so if you disagree, none taken. I super look forward to this years, and whatever you work on in the future. Cheers!
Haha. With re-watching your last years a couple times, and a couple of Qyll's videos, around 2 hours. I actually had a bit of fun, and it was much less time than it took you to edit the video, so call us even? Can't wait to see your next video!
This is Qyll Level :O SO GOOD
Great job!! I love it!
Nice work, pls name of 2 and 3 song
Verathin Thx, I wait new video:)
So at 3:59 there is a black haired girl and the anime is Tenshi ni 3P but there is no anime called that. There is a Tenshi NO 3P though but i don't think there is a girl with black hair in it, any help will be great to clarify so i can find this character. I guess i can go look through the Tenshi no 3P series but if she is just a bit character it'd help to know before hand.
@@Verathin Wow thank you for replying haha that helps so much. Also forgot to say that i really enjoyed the video and hope you can keep making them :)
