The first Chaim Potok book I read years ago was My Name is Asher Lev, and he INSTANTLY became my favorite author and he and James Herriot share my affection equally. I went on to read every single book that Potok wrote and he so sadly died early. Not only could he tell a magnificent multi leveled story but he could infuse a sense of humanity onto every page. For this I think him.
