I think you forgot one acrobatic element: *Colussi* - Free aerial cartwheel from cross position. *Difficulty*: E. Named for Silvia Colussi Pelaez (ESP), who performed it at the 2013 World Championships.
Same. The first time I saw it, I was like: Ugh, was she supposed to do this or is it gonna be a deduction? It looks so ugly and not like an really skill.
tbh no offense but i think deng linlin does the layout 1/1 better…just puttin it out there, there weren't so many chinese gymnasts in this video (only 2 i think) aren't they the beam dominators?
Kyle Ma because this channel loves US gymnastics, i´m pretty sure the chinese gymnast who appear in the video are just because only they execute the element.
+Kyle Ma Im sorry, I luv all about gymnastics, sometimes is more about european and american cuz they are most famous (her names). I mean no offense. Thank you so much for watching my videos. Pease, subscribe may channel and givbe a like in the video. You're always welcome =D
The difference is the way you gain the power. In the jump forward, notice her legs as compared to Sui Lu's Grigoras. She gains her power from the jump - notice how much farther she moves laterally - moving into the salto and twisting later on. But Sui Lu gets all of her power from the punch and moves directly into the salto, making it a more difficult move. I don't know how to explain really but there is a difference :)
Without meaning to denigrate their incredible contributions to gymnastics, the skills they were doing back then just were not anywhere near as difficult as top skills being done today, so none of their skills would be included.
they may have just not used her clip because it's old and hard to see and would be pretty blurry in slow motion, pretty much all the clips on there are newer and easy to see how the skill is done, I don't believe this video was to brag on certain gymnasts but rather to educate people on the difficulty level of different skills and that would be difficult to demonstrate with old 70s film :)
Sorry if this is rude but the straddle sit was renamed 'Korbut Flip' after Olga's lovely flips on the beam and bars. Anyway I love your videos and I'm thinking of subscribing! ^_^
So the higher the alphabet the harder the skill.. It seemed that Rio2016 everyone on beam except for Netherlands did the exact same skills. Did everyone have to do the same skill or what ever they choose? It seems these older clips showed gymnastics that took risks!? Just asking
For the D elements, probably some of them are more easily taught/learned than others, so you'll some that are a lot more common. Also connection bonuses are a big thing, so they'll want to learn D, C etc elements that can be feasibly constructed in connection. Of course the much higher difficulty ones are rare to see because they are, well, hard. I do miss the rulfova though.... the Chinese did it a lot around and before 2008, but for some reason they've stopped including it in their routines.
+Meilin Wu The Grigoras is harder because the twist happens when the body is vertical with the beam and the other move is not because it twist earlier which makes it easier to see the beam faster.
+MrRik458 some changes on last code. Thank you so much for watching my videos. Please, subscribe my channel and give a like in the video. You're always welcome =D
it was actually removed in the 2009-2012 code of points. but if you look at the list of named elements, her name is still there with the skill in the 2013-2016 code of points. so the liukin is still there to some degree haha
I'm confused. I know the pike front is by no means easy but Im surprised thats an E and the 1/1 back swing down (which no one ever does!) is only a D...Also I feel like the Teza should be an F or a G....aint nobody trying that these days (or ever). It needs to be higher value to encourage girls to do it, in place of these C-C-B-D combos.
Front pike needs good power to pull round on top of being a blind landing which is a big deal especially on beam. E is pretty fair imo. Not many girls do it anyway, unlike front aerials and tuck fronts.
+TheGymSavant The logic is that because the turn occurs so early, the gymnast has more time to spot the beam. I suppose I can understand since the Grigoras is supposed to be downgraded if the twist happens before vertical.
Depends on where you are, I guess. I've heard Americans call it a front aerial, and British call it a free walkover. Same with the side aerial and a free cartwheel.
Huh? The uploader is showing the most difficult elements according to their ratings in the code. I don't know where else you'd find more difficult elements lol. All of these gymnasts in the video are elite, and a lot of them are Olympians.
2:05 and 2:14 those 2 are REALLY common and not difficult at all even gymnasts not competing in the olympics do Ariel’s and Ariel walkovers on beam 😒so get the facts straight
Simone's Barani is the only acro element in her routine that is E or above besides the dismount. She doesn't do F or G skills in the 2013-2016 code of points.
Arcieres actually she's pretty strong on balance beam. Also she said in an interview that her best event was actually balance beam but she just can't do it like she does in training. So... Your wrong!
Gymnastics really is the best sport out there. There's nothing more fanscinatng, really! Absolutely adore all those boss ass Olympians this year!!!
thank you for these skill breakdowns! showing them performed, then in slow motion really helps non gymnast folks grasp what each skill is.
Shawn Johnson the best! 😍
I think you forgot one acrobatic element:
*Colussi* - Free aerial cartwheel from cross position.
*Difficulty*: E. Named for Silvia Colussi Pelaez (ESP), who performed it at the 2013 World Championships.
Absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing to watch.
I hate the tucked side salto, LOL. I get that it's difficult and takes a lot of skill but it just looks so awkward and ungainly to me.
Same. The first time I saw it, I was like: Ugh, was she supposed to do this or is it gonna be a deduction?
It looks so ugly and not like an really skill.
I have always thought it look vulgar
Look at Kara EAKER’s it’s so smooth
It looks like an accident every time it's performed. Like, they just flail wildly about.
YES! I cannot STAND the side somi. I feel like it always looks so ugly, even if done well.
Bravo ladies. 👏
I think the Kolesnikova is the coolest. You typically don't see anyone flipping on the beam sideways.
3:20 OMG!!!
Larisa is the best on beam!
Her medal record doesn't exactly scream that...
tbh no offense but i think deng linlin does the layout 1/1 better…just puttin it out there, there weren't so many chinese gymnasts in this video (only 2 i think) aren't they the beam dominators?
Kyle Ma because this channel loves US gymnastics, i´m pretty sure the chinese gymnast who appear in the video are just because only they execute the element.

Kui Yuan Yuan does it better too.
AHAHA yea yea i know (: shes just my favourite gymnast tho
fair enough. It's nice to see videos that are more inclusive though I hear you. I don't think Iordache does the layout full optimal either...
3:25 rarest thing ive ever seen
A jump forward with half twist and Grigoras are exactly the same. I have watched both of them like 20 times and I just cannot see any difference.
I don't know how to explain really but there is a difference :)
hehe I can kind of see what you mean if I focus on the takeoff.
I was like thinking the same thing
In the first skill, half twist before of the somersault. In the second, half twist during the somersault.
I surprised I didn't see Nadia Comaneci or Olga Korbut on here
Without meaning to denigrate their incredible contributions to gymnastics, the skills they were doing back then just were not anywhere near as difficult as top skills being done today, so none of their skills would be included.

why nobody do a teza ?? always the same full twisting tucked
shawn johnson
3:25 would be nice to see Simone Biles do this. ❤
Sorry if this is rude but the straddle sit was renamed 'Korbut Flip' after Olga's lovely flips on the beam and bars. Anyway I love your videos and I'm thinking of subscribing! ^_^
Aito Yanaihara This is very late reply but the Korbut has no full turn it's a B element
Why the heck is the front half back tuck not the same or higher difficulty than front half?? Front half you can see the beam the entire time??
So the higher the alphabet the harder the skill.. It seemed that Rio2016 everyone on beam except for Netherlands did the exact same skills. Did everyone have to do the same skill or what ever they choose? It seems these older clips showed gymnastics that took risks!? Just asking
u are right gymnastics used to be so great to watch because of the artistic element where gymnasts used to be creative now its utter bullshit
For the D elements, probably some of them are more easily taught/learned than others, so you'll some that are a lot more common. Also connection bonuses are a big thing, so they'll want to learn D, C etc elements that can be feasibly constructed in connection. I do miss the rulfova though.... the Chinese did it a lot around and before 2008, but for some reason they've stopped including it in their routines.
+xxSennaxx A front tuck seems easier and is worth the same. So why risk with the rulfova. I bet that's what they think.
Elvire Teza um monstro
Can someone please explain what the difference is between the Grigoras and the move at 3:51?
+Meilin Wu The Grigoras is harder because the twist happens when the body is vertical with the beam and the other move is not because it twist earlier which makes it easier to see the beam faster.
Is this a classical form of Daniela Silivas’ 88’ floor music?
It's Mozart's "Eine kleine Nachtmusik"
there is/was only one G element?
im confused what does flic flac mean?...
+Tijnknijn Im pretty sure its a back handspring stepout just in different countries they call it different things
+shoonthefloop thanks ! 😂
It's just a handspring! :) if you read gymnastics books aimed at little kids you'll see it a lot.
i see no difference between jump forward with twist and the grigoras
Isn't Kochetkova a D?
MrRik458 It was upraised in the latest code of points.
Got it! Thanks :)
+MrRik458 some changes on last code.
Thank you so much for watching my videos. Please, subscribe my channel and give a like in the video. You're always welcome =D
what about nastia liukens trick? That she invented
It was Removed from the cop in the 2013-2016 quad
+Lea Sophia Hjulmand Abild thanks
it was actually removed in the 2009-2012 code of points. but if you look at the list of named elements, her name is still there with the skill in the 2013-2016 code of points. so the liukin is still there to some degree haha
omg at 4:48 - 4:52 larisa's arms exactly match the music!
+D Lane The judges are not trying to encourage those type of skills thats why.
Front pike needs good power to pull round on top of being a blind landing which is a big deal especially on beam. E is pretty fair imo. Not many girls do it anyway, unlike front aerials and tuck fronts.
I thought Grigoras was an E? Did it change for this quad?
+goodyougetastar It's been an F since 2006
+TheGymSavant Oh, yeah sorry. I was confused because the jump with half twist to tuck/pike back is an E, I thought it'd be the same value. Thanks :)
goodyougetastar I know right? Why is that one an E?
Ahaha yeah, it's a little strange. But I think it's because the Grigoras has a bit more sideways action? Idk, that's just a guess. :))
+TheGymSavant The logic is that because the turn occurs so early, the gymnast has more time to spot the beam. I suppose I can understand since the Grigoras is supposed to be downgraded if the twist happens before vertical.
No standing full?
Rulfova by Shushunova was far better!
3:19 a 3:23 OMG
At 2:14 that is just called a front aerial
No its not. Thats a free walkover.
Depends on where you are, I guess. I've heard Americans call it a front aerial, and British call it a free walkover. Same with the side aerial and a free cartwheel.
0:52 is catalina ponor
that khorkina move is the most interesting
6 romance! Forza Romania!
holy fu** I'm dizzy watching this😂😂
min.3:26
The elements are awesome, no doubt about that. But "most difficult?" On the Olympic/Elite level -- no.
Huh? The uploader is showing the most difficult elements according to their ratings in the code. I don't know where else you'd find more difficult elements lol. All of these gymnasts in the video are elite, and a lot of them are Olympians.
ok 1:54 looks like it could have hurt really bad if you know what i mean lmao
Aerial cartwheel is not hard at all.
Not nearly the most difficult elements on beam....
Sweetmisery99 Oh yeah? And what are more difficult ones than in this video?
I'm a gymnast
its called an anodi
2:05 and 2:14 those 2 are REALLY common and not difficult at all even gymnasts not competing in the olympics do Ariel’s and Ariel walkovers on beam 😒so get the facts straight
these are some of the easiest skills and there are names for them other than flic-flack
What’s a flic-flack? I’m a gymnast and I’ve never heard that term. Is that even a real term.
@@tidalvii8640 it’s the correct term for back handspring.
@@craeus7433 I figured that out now thanks, although I’ve never heard the “flack” part I hear the flick part tho
simone biles did waaay more.complicated skills on b
beam
Simone's Barani is the only acro element in her routine that is E or above besides the dismount. She doesn't do F or G skills in the 2013-2016 code of points.
Arcieres actually she's pretty strong on balance beam. Also she said in an interview that her best event was actually balance beam but she just can't do it like she does in training. So... Your wrong!
Yes, but are we talking about in training.. uh no.
Siamese AJ Um no one ever said anything about competition so... fuck off?
Well sadly, thats where it counts so we kinda were.
M
Are you sure that that is Daniela Silivas? She looks so different from the Seoul Olympics!
