I am a buyer on the show out of Gloucester Ma. These are absolutely %100 the truth. All made up for tv, especially the prices. 🍀🐟

You guys are nuts, the quality of these fish in Gloucester Ma are absolutely phenomenal, you can't catch that quality down in North Carolina. The colder waters are teaming with bait to fatten them up and helps to keep the quality while they fight! Most people brag about a bigger fish they caught not talk down other fishermen! Do better!

@@markclynchsorry dude but I fish out of Maine and they are spot on. We fished next to the wicked tuna fleet most of the summer and caught the same fish that they’ll be landing on the show this season and we averaged around $6. We did have a $20 fish that went to Japan and it was the high fish on the floor that day in Tokyo but most of them were anywhere from $3 to $8.

@@saltwaterfishinguniversity you can actually go and find out all the names of every person that’s ever bought a fish on any of the seasons. This man is not on there at all, not even as an extra or as somebody in the background which they have everybody named even people that are walking through the parking lot because their faces on camera in multiple different articles responding to announcements about new seasons coming out or when they’re gonna start filming etc. he’s a fanboy that happens to live near the area and wants attention

I’m glad you brought this whole subject up, mainly because Wicked Tuna is supposed to be in the “Reality Show” genre but they put so much BS in it to make it entertaining rather than show it for what it is, which is ultimately misleading to the public. I used to be a charter boat mate out of Hatteras NC and Oregon Inlet NC up until 2009, and I’ve been asked about this so many times by people who because of the show, are under the impression that BF Tuna are made of gold. When I was still in the business, the Oregon Inlet fishery wasn’t happening yet and the bluefin bite was more around Morehead City. Also, it wasn’t until the early 2000’s that the federal quota was opened up for the NC fishery. I caught one in 2006 that weighed 436 dressed and we got $18 per pound for it, but back then the quota was so limited, each captain was only allowed 1 fish per year, which is why we got such a high price for it. At 1 fish per captain per year, there was no chance for market saturation. The one thing I really dislike about the show is the fact that they act like it’s a contest. Commercial fishing isn’t a contest, and I can attest personally having spent a decade in the NC fishing industry, that all that nonsense in the show where they talk about out fishing each other, is just that, nonsense. Thanks for doing this video.

7:26 the sound effects we all knew that those were increased because they talked about it behind the scenes they added microphones to the reels to the rods and even to the darts so that they could get realistic sound effects without having to use fake sounds

🤣 🤣 The Furuno fish alarm sound that they show on every sounder regardless of the brand. AND, the Mitchell 300 spinning reel clickers. The two most bogus elements of Wicked Tuna.
    See you soon gents!

If I may add one- it’s all of these multiple harpoon shots. I’d like to know how many times they throw a couple darts in these things then supposedly get big prices. They don’t pay well for Swiss cheese. The best price I got last year was a tail wrapped fish that we didn’t dart.

I just have found your channel and watched several of your videos. Enjoyed them all and found them very entertaining and informative so far. Have fished all up and down the East Coast, Mexico, Bermuda, PR and a couple times ABC islands offshore and been very fortunate to have fished and placed in several BIG tournaments over my 35+ years fishing. Fished in a few in NC in the 80’s and 90’s.
The WT show is for “entertainment” and I do watch it from time to time. The editors need to go back to school though because half the time that a fish takes the bait and hits the rod and the angler takes over within a few minutes the rod, line and reel magically change. This happens at least once in every show I have watched. The fish hits on a rod with green line, gold wrapped rod, silver guides, lever drag black reel. A few frames later or during the fight the rod wraps are different, reel is different model, guides not the same or the line is now yellow. Poor editing at the cutting room. This is on a LOT of the earlier episodes. Also have noticed that they use different clips showing different leaders when fish is at the boat and they are ready to harpoon the fish. Most people probably would never notice and enjoy the show but like you mention in your video the sound effects, drama, pricing of the fish and many things are staged for entertainment.
Look forward to new content and future videos from your Channel.👍🏻

Marciano is probably "Private Labeling" someone else's product with his name slapped on the package for sales purposes.
Less work that way and gets his 2nd cut at the Tuna apple for his additional sale. Just like T-shirts, hates, etc.

The price of tuna has dramatically gone down since the show came out because more people are doing it in fact most of the stars don't fish anymore because if it so yes you made 9 per pound but they did make a lot more per pound because the price has gone down.... this video should be called things different between now and then

Wicked Tuna has done to bluefin tuna what Deadliest Catch has done to Alaskan crab. Both shows are a malignant blight on those industries.
