I hear that but as I keep reminding myself, I’m only racing for chocolate fish so having fun is the most important thing and living to race another day is the clever play.
@@nztvrtuscan Exactly. We all love our cars and want to bring them back home in one piece. I built the car from scratch during lockdown. The last thing I’d want to do is damage the car or someone else’s 👍
Well done, great close race, pushing the cars, but at the same time driving respectful of others. I have fond memories of being in a friends '68 BRG S2 1600 back in the 80's.
Thanks. Above anything I want everyone’s car to come home in one piece. We have a great selection of people in our series who are also good friends so we know we can race close but ultimately survive for the next round.
Fantastic, well done. Thanks for sharing. You'll need to get a rear facing camera so we can see how close they are and whats going on behind. Cracking, look forward to the next one.
Brilliant! Close, competitive and respectful! Why the flashing black/white signage??! That signals a warning to a particular driver; but there was no number displayed? Unless they were signalling that it was the last lap? But that is signaled at the start of the last lap?!! Frustrating because you'd have had the Lotus!
Is was a flashing white flag meaning a slow moving vehicle is up ahead. I decided to back off so not to risk an accident but the car had already pulled off the track 😭
It’s a little tricky. For our regs, we have to use the standard gear ratio so the jump from 3rd to 4th is quite big. Also, again due to regs, I have to use a standard rocker shaft assembly which is then the weak point. Although the engine is built to stand 8k rpm, the rocker shaft assembly is really at its limit around 6.5k. After that I risk valve issues 😬
Gosh ,you are getting good at this.Do you think that next year over boring the engine and some other tweaks might get you that extra 5 bhp to leave those two behind. Or are you limited to a + 60 th overbore?
Outstanding! Far more entertaining than modern F1 because this is real RACING. Maybe you should insert a heartbeat monitor onto the video 😊. You’re clearly better going into and through the corners than the 7 and the Europa, so if you had another 5 or 10bhp (as other comments have suggested) you’d leave them both behind. I’m currently restoring my 1970 TVR Vixen S2 although, when it’s completed, I don’t think I’ll be able to use her as skilfully as you do with your Vixen S2!
I have an Apple Watch so record a ‘workout’ when I race. In that race it peaked at 165 bpm which is the same as when I’m running pretty hard! Oh for more power 😆. I could change the cam to get a touch more but risks the engine. You’d be surprised how easy they are to drive fast. Very forgiving!
@@Tomkitek Was the peak heart rate when that other Europa forced you onto the grass at 16.13? 😊 I watched your earlier engine video and that was very informative. May I ask who built your engine? And what cam are you using? Although if these are “racing secrets”, then I quite understand. For more power, I know that the HSCC regs limit your twin 40s’ chokes to 33mm and that effectively strangles a wilder cam, but some other limited induction engines compensate by increasing the compression ratio. So is CR free, or limited by some other means? Or maybe “adding lightness” as quoted by Colin Chapman, or is there a minimum weight limit? Anyway, thanks for these amazing race videos that show what a 50+ year old car can do in the right hands. Please keep them coming, they’re very entertaining!!
Need more safety equipment for a 100mph car LOL. .....then all of a sudden......its fine to drive on the road....with nothing but a seat belt, funny stuff today
That was a cracking race…so close between you, the seven and the europa…brilliant.
It’s amazing when the cars are so different
Enjoyed that!!! Great video - really felt like I was in the cockpit - brilliant!!
Thanks! It was a really fun race
Great race by all three of you. You’re pretty smooth.
It was great fun. I’m slowly dialling in the car to get it less twitchy.
Very nice going and a thrilling race!
Even though I lost out on the win I loved every second (nearly) 😃

So fun to watch u race , like n car action
Thanks 🙏 I enjoy the racing that’s for sure
Fabulous race...Phew...I need a G&T!
Haha. I did need a beer after that 😅

It was very close behind me! I think a rear camera would make a good purchase....
Absolutely outstanding
Thanks! It was great fun. Nice clean racing as well 👍
Fantastic. Are you running an Ford 1600 kent or MGB engine?
Thanks. I’m running the Ford Kent engine 👍

Is it a GoPro? That direction tracking feature (that looks the opposite way to the way you want to and need to look) made me feel nauseous 🤢
Yeah it is a GoPro. It seems to be a setting it came with and I've never looked into it. 🤷♂
Were you holding back on the revs for the first few laps? Seems like you really have to rev it out in 3rd to make the most out of 4th gear....

whew, that was some race, my armchair definitely needs more side support, though, I was getting tossed around something terrible.
Haha thanks. One of the best races I’ve had. So much fun
Cracking race

Or are you limited to a + 60 th overbore?
We’re allowed up to 60 th overbore so I could do that and a hotter cam but it may risk reliability because the cam will start pushing the revs….
@@Tomkitek The + 60 should help and give a smidgen of more torque..Yes the camshaft may mess things up but you have a strong bottom end if i recall.
@@limjamrace The bottom end has been built to cope with anything. Problem our regs have is the valve train is standard so takes a beating
You got the triumph straight 6 in your Vixen?
Hi Sam. No it’s the Ford 1600 Crossflow version

Good fucking racing lad. That 7 Lotus slowing everyone down :D

It’s amazing how originally the seat is just bolted to the fibreglass 🤦♂️ I welded in steel supports across the chassis to boot my seat in
