Anamorphic lenses do not have “ovals” in them. It just looks like that when you’re looking into the lens because of the lens element that performs the squeeze.
Love this insight Brady! Great stuff. Anamorphic is not always better!
Thank you so much !!
This has a lot of really good info! I only knew about the lens flares going into this video, but now I'm properly informed on the differences, thanks, Brady!
Thank you so much David!
Only half way through the video and it's already SO helpful. Had no clue what anamorphic lenses were. Thanks man.
Thank you so much Josh
lovely one brady!! really loved to see the comparison as i just got into filming with my first anamorphic lens. i absolutely love the look of an anamorphic lens with the oval bokeh and the lensflares!! but i agree that sometimes you can't film everything with an anamorphic lens. keep it up brady and can't wait to see that number switching to 80k!!
Yes you’re spot on!! Thank you so much
Your content is getting cooler and better. Love from Cambodia 🇰🇭❤️
Thank you so much
Loved this video Brady! Stellar job as always
Hey Nate thank you!
Wow i’m sooooo late!! But I loved this! Definitely a great comparison video! Proud of you as always bestie!❤️
Oh hi love you ok bye!
Anamorphic for drama or cinematic stuff, spherical for everything else. Good job!!
The "which one is for you" is based on what kind of shoot, rather, so if a person does only one kind of work, then a certain setup can suit them, but for those whose work can vary, from stationary, to moving, from rehearsed to free moving, from certain results for the scenes as a priority, or choosing between heavy or light setup, depending on the kind of shoot.
The lenses define a certain look, so I can never say, i have ONE complete lens, because one movie can have one or more lenses, depending on the results required.
I wont be trying to shoot anamorphic unless the scene demands it and likewise for a spherical. Or even how much depth of field or zoom or field of view we want.
If a filmmaker sacrifices those results, to get a easily manageable and hassle free setup, then that's their choice, but they are definitely compromising quality and originality and on the other hand, it would be foolish to carry a heavy setup, just for the sake of it, if you can get the same results with a lighter cheaper setup.
You are the best!
And you almost hit 80k subs omgg!!
🤩
Thank you so so much Juan!
Please please please, do a tutorial of how to use natural light like Emmanuel Lubezki. I love his style but I never seem to get the lighting right when trying to recreate it
Okay! Let me go study !!
Thanks Brady
I personaly would always think about what the story is and which empotions do you want to give your ausdience. Anamorphic can be more griddyish and spherical more flat. I often combine anamorphic and spherical because of the visual story telling trough the lens.
Yeah it really is fun to get creative! Mixing is an interesting approach that I’ve seen done very well!
Do you just easily crop the footage after just in the software or is there anything else to know?
There’s just one extra step to desqueeze the footage before editing
I just bought an anamorphic lenses for my cell and even after after desqueezing it’s looks warped at the edges. Center is perfect the edges look blurry is it doing what it’s supposed to do?
I think the simple explanation of anamorphic lens is "if using a 50 mm anamorphic u get the focal length of a 50 and field of view of half of the focal length which is 25 "☺️
.I love u r videos man they r great
Put simply, yeah! Thank you Kevin!
@@BradyBessette bro can u make video on shooting conversation scenes in movie how to shoot n edit the best way . It would be a great help bro .☺️
Moment makes an anamorphic lens 1.33 blue or gold flare and case mounts for phones. Beast Grip makes a 1.33 and 1.55 anamorphic lens as well.
I’ve seen that! I wanna get ahold of it!
Yo Brady,
I like and keep creating and share experiences
Yo thank you so much!!!
Thank you for explaining the mystery.
Thank YOU Lee!
i have a question whats with ur screen ? it so dim like and soft .. like u applied lip balm on the lens or something
I’m not 100% sure?? On the anamorphic? It is a bit softer
I love anamorphic but I also love spherical. Like you said, they both come in handy in certain situations.
I completely agree! Thanks Steve
@@BradyBessette my phone's camera glass is weird and makes extreme linear lens flares it almost looks like I shoot anamorphic when I use my phone haha.
Ahaha that’s wild! Budget anam!
@@BradyBessette haha!
At this point I would just go with streak filter and crop
I'm curious about that. Great topic 👌
Thank you!!
I have a Canon M50. Do they make one for that camera? As a lens filter?
I’m not sure they offer that!
Lol. I think Smallrig Has one but for GoPro. Maybe I can start there lol. Thank you 😄
CORRECTION: SmallRig/Ulanzi Has a camera phone version. My mistake.
All the filmmakers cannot afford 70mm film, which was quite costlier than 35mm film. So, inorder to get wide view in 35mm film anamorphic lenses were used.
Awesome!
Another awesome video
Thank you!!
I totally didn't know the footage had to be stretched with anamorphic lenses! Thanks for the heads up dude, I'm making the upgrade from SonyA7iii to BMPCC6K.
I’m glad this helped dude! That jump will be a good one
Get the Panasonic S5. I have it and you can't find a better camera for $2000. Now $1700 and it supports anamorphic and desqueezes in camera.
Do you think the canon eos r can work as a professional camera right now
I want to buy it and i am on a budget 😅
Ps : i will pair it with a sigma 24-70mm f2.8
Do you think i can get professional looking videos with this combo
gear is not the big matter man:) you can even film professional videos with your phone if you know what you are doing and if you have good lighting!! because that's what matters much more, light and storytelling. so if you get a cheaper camera to get into filmmaking and learn to master this cam you'll be able to get some clientworks and with this you can afford to buy a newer and more expensive camera;)
@@EmanuelKolb thanks for the advice 😊
I have been working with my phone for 4 years now and i did so much work with it but now i want to upgrade my gear so i was asking about the canon eos r and if it is a good camera or not for achieving great cinematic look ?
Yeah I filmed with the R for the longest time, you certainly can!
@@BradyBessette can you send a link of a video which was shot with the eos r from your work
I am a huge fan by the way 😇
Nice one! I actually prefer spherical - I also kinda feel like spherical is more trendy than anamorphic (seemed to be v popular until a few years ago) also because full frame cinema cameras are coming to the market (Arri etc.)
Yeah something about them honestly is so nice
Anamorphic ALL DAY, twice on Sundays. I absolutely LOVE the anamorphic look. I shoot almost exclusively with anamorphic lenses.
Additionally, you can use anamorphic lenses on tight shots also. You're a bit off about the "only wide shots" part of the video.
It is great yea! But I meant like wide field of view, just as an option
@@BradyBessette understood. But at any rate, this video is on point! Looking forward to seeing the magic you make with these amazing lenses!
I hate the anamorphic lens flare. I guess for science fiction it’s cool, but it is distracting to me.
It was built originally for tanks... in war... not film.
Interesting! Never heard of this!
Background music?
Oh boy, I think it was Musicbed, I dont have the song.. I'm sorry!
*Make a collaboration with @Anamorphic on a Budget soon!*
I wish!!
Круто спасибо
Another thing to know is that the Spherical lenses are fasters than Anamorphics
More often than not yeah a bit faster! Thank you
Hahah boka.. classic american, you people butcher every word
