Seized Handbrake/Seized Brake Pedal/Brake Drum/Brake disk

Seized hand brake , seized brake drum , seized brake disk.
In this video i successfully managed to un-seize the struck rear brake drum of the vehicle with simple tricks and tools.
If your vehicle has been parked for a long time with the handbrake engaged their is a possibility that your rear brake shoe get jammed with the rear drum or disk , in that case you can try few things by yourself to be able to free up the handbrake shoe and save money.
firstly start your car and release the hand brake/brake pedal now carefully try to move the vehicle forward or backward by doing this it may release the struck brake shoe and free up the parking brake, be careful that your surrounding is clear as your vehicle may suddenly push forward or back as you try to release the brakes.,
if above method doesn't work switch off the engine put your vehicle in first gear and release the hand / foot brake., now come out of a vehicle and try to move the rear of vehicle left and right as shown in the video to try to un-seize the brake shoe, you might be lucky at this stage and hear a small bang which means brake has been released.
If all of the above tricks fail to solve your problem then the most effective way is to jack up the car safely remove the wheel and give a small taps of rubber hammer on brake drum between the studs as shown in the video by doing this you will be able to release the brake shoe you might need to repeat the procedure few time but be patient and it will work in the end.
Once you are able to remove the brake drum its a good idea to clean the brakes and drum with a wire brush and brake cleaner.

Thank you for sharing your technique Our 2013 Kia Soul sat for a week in the mid-May heat in SE Ohio, and when we returned, we couldn't release the parking brake. The car wouldn't roll, but dragged one wheel along the ground. Jacked it up, attempted to move the wheel, but couldn't. and after trying a rubber mallet, switched to a sledge hammer and tapped around firmly, until the wheel started to rotate freely once again. I was worrying about hiring a tow truck to drag it out of our narrow, walled driveway to a shop for major repairs. We still have to get that wheel off to replace the tire eventually (tire tread is worn but not gone...NOT as a result of this issue) but we can do it at a time of OUR choosing. Thanks again for showing us what you did.

If you're having this problem late at night or in the middle of a parking lot READ THIS 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍👍👍If you have a sedan car push on the rear fender right near the trunk on the side seized with a lot of force you need to be a big person to do this multiple times and almost Max the shocks out not literally just a GOOD SHAKE it will unseize it without pulling your wheel off and you will be able to get it to move . if you have a hatchback open the rear of the hatch and push in the floor of the trunk closest to the rear corner side but with FORCE little people may need to call a friend lol but i only weight between 200 and 230 at times so not a monster that it BUT make sure you're heavy if you're doing it . Make sure its press down dont be afraid as I'm sure someone this size will not break the shocks in the car if it does you need new ones anyway lol the caliper will unseize make sure you press hard enough there will be a sound of it unsticking and do not use a forklift or some sort of stupid equipment you deserve that out come if you did 🤣

You'd be surprised that backing it up and forward will not make it unseize as I had my rear wheel drive down the street screeching at 11:30 at night but pushing their will unseize the wheel when needed right away
