Why does the temperature of Planetary Nebulas increase (why they go to the left on the HR diagram?)?

The star remnant, when a planetary nebula is formed from the outer layers of the red giant, is a white dwarf which is essentially a collapsed core held up by the electron degeneracy. This white dwarf is very hot and emits a lot of UV radiation. This UV radiation collides with the planetary nebular sorrounding it, causing the nebula to glow.
