I have a 2018 gle 350 and for some reason my sunroof button wasn’t working and the sunroof kept stalling when I pushed the button- I did this trick and IT WORKED🎉 …. Thanks for the info!!!!
For anyone that comes across this problem here is what worked for me without having to physically touch anything on the vehicle.
I have a 2015 c300 with a sunroof that would not close.
The features of the key fob allow you to press and hold the unlock button which triggers the windows to all go down and the sunroof to open as well.
The same is true for when you lock the vehicle and hold the lock button, the windows will all go up and the sunroof will close.
My sunroof wouldn't close properly via the button inside to operate the roof, so i used the key fob feature to lock everything and it worked.

My cla45 won’t close all the way after the tilt any help with this as Whej it goes to the tilt it won’t go down and close

If it still doesn't work ..get some specialist silicone spray and go all the way round the mechanism leave it for a few hours and then try my method again

where would you spray the silicone spray if it doesn’t open?
From the roof follow the grooves round the sunroof and spray using the straw function of the WD40 can

I tried the method and counted 5-second holds in positions; forward, backward, downwards, and upwards for the 2006 S350. The sunroof reset and closed. Thanks.

Hello, my sun roof opens but when closing it closes but it’s stuck in vent position so doesn’t close fully. How can i fix this?
Try spraying lithium silicone spray onto the runner mechanism of the sunroof and hopefully overnight should fix the issue

Hi at moment my c200 is at garage bein serviced and ftont tires changed my pan roof has stopped workin over a year ago will this technique work solve problem if it aint a fuse or motor old c200
Well it's worth a try, especially as it's free 😊. If you still have issue.try specialist silicone spray on the runners as over time can seize.

What about if the shade work but glass doesn’t
Try this reset anyway. If shade works but glass doesn't then...try to lubricate the window guides with some specialist silicone spray. Leave it for few hours and then see if it works ..sometimes the sunroof guides seize and need lubrication.

U lost me at forward chief. The button doesn't go forward
Yours maybe one that just pivots forward...so push the button gently away from you towards the windscreen and hold for 5 seconds and then do the rest. Hope that helps
My button doesn't move forward either, and I've tried pivoting it slightly forward (it sort of moves 1 click downwards) but nothing is working.
Also checked all fuses in the engine compartment, and checked front SAM module but wiring all looks okay.
I also replaced the auxiliary battery and tried clearing all fault codes with the diagnostic but nothing seems to be working
Is there something I'm missing?
@sutsi my motor was blown mercedes couldn't believe it they said it was an anomaly but it was under warranty since mine is a 2021 with less then 40k miles
That's rather surprising. Thank goodness you had the warranty cover remaining.
@@jvno_sa have you tried lubricating the runners on the mechanism. Try spraying specialist silicone spray and see if that helps. If after that it still doesn't work, it may well be the motor

@@sutsi I tried today, I don't have the option to move the switch forward like u do, only up, down, and back. I chekced the manual for a reset of the roof and blind, I managed to get it now to fully open automatically but I still have to press several times to close it. I think there might be some debris or something like that, I will clean both rails and apply new grease hope that solves the issue and I Will be able to also automatically close the sunroof

@@sengweiyee2786 I checked the manual, you have 2 roofs, sun roof and panoramic roof, it works when i open it automatically but it sttuters when i try to close it automatically, so i have to hold the button to close it instead of just click like it does for opening, so check the manual
Hi my sunroof slides back to open and front to close but the hatch part of the roof won’t come down. It keeps bouncing back up. Will this reset work for that ??😢
This might help ..if it doesn't couple things:
1) check that there isn't anything obstructing the mechanism.
2) lubricate the sliding mechanism with specialist silicone spray (wd-40 specialist)
3) sometimes these mechanisms a bit temperamental and you have to time it just right so that it pops back up a little but creates a water tight seal.

What about if it’s stuck open? Will this work?
If you're car 12v battery was low and it caused it, this reset should work. If not ...check the fuse for the sunroof and if that's ok, try spraying some silicone spray on the runners of the sunroof as it can sometimes get a little stiff/stuck due to dirt/grime over time. If that doesn't work I'm afraid it'll need an auto electrician to check the motor and sunroof switch to check if power is going to the mechanism

Still do this reset and if it continues to do that...spray some lubricant all along the mechanism that you can see or reach and also all around the seams from the roof around the sunroof edges, leave for about 12hrs and see if that works... usually a slightly stiff mechanism can make it feel like there's an obstruction so it then closes back up. Hopefully this works for you

You need the car started as you'll need power to the electric sunroof button
Mine is working but the net doesn't close
I have the same problem and I almost die with the sun shining on my head 😩😂
It may be that the guide the net is sitting on has become stiff.....you may wish to try spraying specialist silicone spray (I use WD40 SPECIALIST) on the guide rails and leave it for an hour and come back to it...should sort it.

I have a 2021 and I can't get this to work. A bit frustrating since it's still a newer car I've had nothing but trouble with mine
Have you tried spraying specialist silicone spray on the sunroof guides or if not moving at all..from the top of the roof where the seals are for the panroof try spraying and leaving overnight.
Also I'm assuming you've checked that the fuse isn't blown?
2015 cla 250 didn’t help
