I'm looking forward to seeing this play,as someone who is wanting to know more about my own Jewish cultural history it interests me..also for all those who seem to be offended or worry about the senstivities ..? hhmm not sure about that. This is very familiar and common humour for me as a Jewish person and the cultural conflict there has been for many Jews of various countries in being Jewish whilst being assimilated into a dominant culture that is not..
It may be screened in cinemas through NT Live as a facility but this was not a National Theatre production. It was created for the West End by lead producer Sonia Friedman and played at London's Wyndham's Theatre for two seasons. So you NT subscription will not be applicable.
Thought this play was dire, so boring. I liked the first act, but after that not so much. The same actors playing different characters did my head in too. I’m very much into Jewish history but when it kept chopping and changing characters, I lost interest and investment sadly.
If you stop being offended by every single piece of media imaginable, and instead start understanding and/or enjoying them, your life would be much better.
because it is a play about 4 generations of a Jewish family so will be set across different historical periods...is that OK with you ?!!! old style in the 21st century...why is everything meant to be set in the modern day now.If you don't like the look of it then don't go and see it and maybe find out first what the play is about
@@seradar5000 So we should stop performing Shakespeare? Who's this "we?" Also, "oldish style?" If you would expose yourself to more "old" literature, you might express yourself better.
Oh dear, oh dear... Stoppard is deservedly acclaimed for the extraordinary range, sophistication, and humour of his many plays. This opening excerpt from "Leopoldstadt" does, admittedly, feel like a string of cliche Jewishisms - but, actually is just a lightweight ease into their world, and the tone very much changes and darkens through the scenes that follow. See the play, (streamed in cinemas on January 27th, and probably other dates, and NFT Live) then, maybe, review your judgment!
Oh and yeah catholic are wrong but still they talk the truth about our messiah your messiah the wrong is that Neal on statues and that is bad God says it.
Read ישעיה 53 the real messiah came to save all of us like the lamb of moshe in Egypt old testament post and clip for the truth to be reveal. He sufferded for our sins to be forgiven

Looking sound track so my 13 year old can sing, especially in current hard times.
I must watch this play. Still, I have a story I related to this (ahem) clip, I was technically circumcised twice, and yes, I cried both times.
Will this play ever come back to London? Can’t believe I didn’t see it
Will this be available on the NT subscription I wonder?

Now available on NT at home, am pleased to write!

Remarkably strained diction. The NT is getting to be a very odd mixture of the brilliant and the downright amateurish.
I'm so conflicted on this thing. I don't know if it was meant to offend or not....
Exactly my feeling... Beautiful lines and sense of humor... However it relates to true people... To a true nation!!!
Tom Stoppard is jewish ..I don't think ist meant to offend anyone or people,it is a jewish man talking about his own cultural history
@@upendasana7857 ah a Christian who's culturally Jewish just not religiously. Big difference.
OK I get it.
Thanks

@@TzvetozarCherkezov I'm not offended apparently you did not read my comment properly.
So much chatter!
Old style in the 21st century? Why?

@@upendasana7857 Every old should be expressed in new ways in our era, we are tired of the oldish style.
...this is a modern play written by a modern present day playright...do some research if you are so interested in the arts and how relevant things are

Critically acclaimed? Really? If this little sample is representative of the writing, I'd like to know who the hell is "acclaiming" it.
Did you judge Moby Dick by reading a few random paragraphs too?

You will know that you are making fun of the real messiah that's a blasfemy
Its actually blasphemy and its not blasphemy, its theatre.
