You probably dont care at all but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the account password. I love any assistance you can offer me.
It's not how I'd usually pick a piece, but I've ended a fairly miserable week, saw this was new, played it, and before long I started imaging directing our chorus, me weaving side to side, them smiling and beaming, and the audience clapping on 2 and 4. Just one giant high time in the ol' auditorium. Thanks for a wonderful end to a horrible week. This will be highly recommended when it's music committee time.
My over 55 group rehearsed this just before Covid struck. We were never able to perform it. This spring, we are. And boy am I excited. Just love the arrangement.
it is meant to be acapella with a beat boxer. I did this version in highschool -----> ruclips.net/video/09LQlfMmW7s/видео.html Ohhh and they left out the rain sounds
I hear the drums echoing tonight But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation She's coming in, 12:30 flight The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation I stopped an old man along the way Hoping to find some long forgotten words or ancient melodies He turned to me as if to say, "Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you" It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do I bless the rains down in Africa Gonna take some time to do the things we never had The wild dogs cry out in the night As they grow restless, longing for some solitary company I know that I must do what's right As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti I seek to cure what's deep inside Frightened of this thing that I've become It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do I bless the rains down in Africa Gonna take some time to do the things we never had Hurry boy, she's waiting there for you It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do I bless the rains down in Africa I bless the rains down in Africa (I bless the rain) I bless the rains down in Africa (I bless the rain) I bless the rains down in Africa I bless the rains down in Africa (Ah, gonna take the time) Gonna take some time to do the things we never had Source: Musixmatch
We’re doing this song for music feast (something my choir does to raise funds and give the community an opportunity to see our choir) and the theme for this year was 80’s and we’ve broken into song 1000 times when anyone would mention this song so of course my choir teacher found this to be the best fit. Needless to say I don’t think anyone is disappointed that this is our group piece.
This is great song and just recently actually we sung this with your music and I played the piano and It was amazing. We are going to do it again next year.
I love Africa by Toto, but haven't enjoyed rehearsing this arrangement of it, so far, but this may help. Useful having the pages turning at the right time.
I performed this last year in Teen Arts chorus. A group of students that were in pop groups for our winter concert. This year we were gonna sing Somebody that I used to know but corona happened.
My show choir group and I are currently doing this for a concert coming up, this is one of the easier songs we're working on for an alto in training, I'm originally a soprano, so it's a little hard
Can you do Jump for my love by the Pointer sisters? Also, Missing you by John waite? I'll be waiting to hear it! Let me know if you can! I can't waite to hear your rendission of it.
I love this song! One small thing is that y’all messed up on the lyrics. Y’all said “Hurry boy it’s waiting there for you” instead of “Hurry boy she’s waiting there for you” the last time.
Yeah, the original changes from one to the other. In the beginning, the baritone soloist (David Paich, one of the writers) is ambiguous about what he's talking about, whether the country or his potential lover, but in the end, he's more decided, hence changing from it's to she.
I don't know if Mr. Emerson will ever see this, but... Mr. Emerson, I adore your arrangement of "Africa", but I always have one big question every time I hear this. Do the Tenors have the melody in the chorus? I can't figure that one out. It sounds like it, but I'm never sure. Sorry for my ignorance, but I never could figure out the melody line when I heard Toto originally do it. Someone help me!! Hal Leonard Choral, feel free to chime in also, thanks!
We would say that the Sopranos most closely follow the Bobby Kimball line of the original (in which he sings alone for the first four bars), but the chorus then becomes so brilliantly dense, you could make an argument the melody jumps around after that point.
@@HalLeonardChoral Thanks for the response. As I previously said, I never could pinpoint the exact melody in the original version. Maybe the very strong Tenor section (that's never a bad thing) in this demo recording fools me a little, but boy, while I don't doubt your analysis, it just seems to feel more like the natural melody is in the Tenor line, but you're right I do remember those first four bars of the chorus being as you describe, but I also think the melody jumps around after that.
I don't want to be the one person who picks apart this arrangement, because don't get me wrong its amazing, but you've completely butchered the ending! The drum patterns in the end is missing a drum fill, and theres an entire repeat missing, not to mention the amazing solo that goes with it. if it weren't for that, I would being love with this tune. Another thing, at the beginning of each chorus, the beats are off, when they say "- a lot to drag me away-", they're coming in late and adding an extra beat, totally ruining the flow.
I got to preform this in chior. It was one of the most fun songs to sing at the concert!
thememewithlowselfesteem omg no fair!
Friendly Biscuit I did sing it too
Same! It was the last song of my spring concert last year. I really wish I had gotten a video. It was so much fun
You probably dont care at all but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account??

You just earned my respect from this comment alone. That was BEAUTIFUL.

Wow! Lovely arrangement.

Ohhh and they left out the rain sounds

But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in, 12:30 flight

I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some long forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say, "Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you"
It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless, longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
I seek to cure what's deep inside
Frightened of this thing that I've become
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
Hurry boy, she's waiting there for you
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
(I bless the rain)
I bless the rains down in Africa
(I bless the rain)
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
(Ah, gonna take the time)
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

When you find a great song for pop show for choir realizes it's over three minutes. 😢
When you find this song but realize you're only a soprano and alto choir 😢
I love this song! One small thing is that y’all messed up on the lyrics. Y’all said “Hurry boy it’s waiting there for you” instead of “Hurry boy she’s waiting there for you” the last time.
I noticed that when we did this at school

Are there practice tracks to this song?
I'm a tenor and it is to freaking hard
