- this is amazing to do. I've filled all the shelves of my bookcae by my bed and now they're just about a chronological map of my entire life...! So many things i want to reread... Let me talk you though them...

This was so cool to watch! Fantastic idea and so fun to see your favourites! I see some I have and some I want to read. Well, the tbr list just grew, yet again!!
That was fantastic ; I would feel naked doing that ; exposing my secret stashes haha. My first book that I read cover to cover without stopping was Lord of the Flies . I shared a room with my mother after my father died and so could negotiate having the light on into the night . I dont think I went to school the next day. I was steeped in fairytales and poetry by then and Shakespeare recitals ; the closing lines of vanity fair and the stories behind the operas and ballets. I remembered having a fondness for Petrouchka. even some sinister poetry and ghost stories which I loved . Short stories were a favourite ; but these were my mothers books . I didn't actually own them . I tend to read cover to cover and hate being interrupted by anything . I do eat however and bathe so no worries.
"A working shelf, where I go to remind myself of who I am" that stopped me in my tracks, we need those reminders every once in a while, don't we

Loved this eclectic ramble! I really appreciate bookshelf tours where it’s clear that the books are thoroughly read and reread. And yes-Music for Chameleons is wonderful.

It is wonderful listening to your channel this evening amidst all the political unrest here in the USA. As a progressive it is more than frustrating!!!! I loved the Guernsey book movie, and the casting was superb. It’s great the way you’re organizing treasures, so easy to just grab them down without books falling on you! Thanks again❤❤
The Mallory Towers series on the BBC has been a lovely adaptation of the books..
I adore mythology, fantasy & magic realism, but also read a lot of poetry (especially contemporary), & Ive also just launched onto BookTube - quite a lark. Really glad to have discovered your channel. I look forward to following you.
I love Ira Levin. Not always well treated by movie adaptations. But a great writer
I see The Magic Cottage by James Herbert is in there. It's one of my favourites too. I managed to get my sister into reading by giving her that book as a gift. She didn't read much but I was sure The Magic Cottage would hit the spot - and it did. She still enjoys a good Herbert story.
i read it when it came out - i've not revisited it yet
@@paulmagrs2474 I read it when it was released too. It was doing the rounds at school and everyone was talking about it. I think I read it twice. It would be interesting to see if it holds up these days. Another book to add to the 'read again' list 😄
Im.pretty sure the enchanted wood and the magic far away tree etc were responsible for igniting the fire for my love of reading ..well that and my mum whom was also an absolute avid reader
I have another question too ; is that Ok? It is , which of your characters is most autobiographically close to you. I have suspicion about that ?
I wonder if you've read any of Neil Bartlett's books - and whether you have a favourite?
