    Technically that wasn’t the Empire killing civilians in Mando’s flashback it was the Separatist’s Droid army.

      A Separatist Droid Army sent by Dooku, who is actually a puppet for Sheev Palpatine aka The Emperor. So its not the Empire only because its a secret. This is the wrong kind of “technically”. Sin is for George Lucas’ lazy writing in Ep 1-3.

      @@MsZeeZed the Empire refers to the Republic’s successor state. Palpatine was the de facto leader of the Confederacy and both the de facto and de jure leader of the Republic. The Republic defeated the Confederacy, then the Republic was abolished by Palpatine and replaced by the new Empire. Each political entity was distinct and separate from one another, just puppeteered by Palpatine so that he could get rid of the Republic and make the Empire.

    TIE fighters do indeed canonically not have shields, IIRC. The Empire's whole schtick is not giving a fuck about their people, so why would their fighters have protection? Although I would question why the personal TIE fighter of someone like Gideon wouldnt have one like, retrofitted.

    It was absolutely a deserved sin, but TIE fighters intentionally don't have shielding. Not for any tactical reason, but just because the empire couldn't be bothered to spend a little bit more money to equip them with it. Even though it is canon, it still makes no sense. There's no way some shielding costs more than all the new ships needed to constantly replace the ones that get shot down, but that just goes to show the shortsightedness of the empire, I suppose. Palpatine was great at manipulating people but really sucked at logistics.

    7:16 The sin here is you acting like members of a literal cult will think rationally.
    8:46 You missed the point again, it's "earned" because it shows Mando putting his life and his friends above the creed. He doesn't want to die, and his faith has been challenged, so when faced with yes a dumb loophole, he takes it as an excuse. It's a first step towards him becoming more comfortable with rebelling.
    11:10 She is literally just saying it's hard to control correctly. That's it.

    1:47 "hell" and "heaven" are each spelled with a lowercase h. "Vocabulary [and capitalization] matters!" I am also curious how they would be privy to Christian or other religious concepts that would let them know about angels and hell.

    • @JeddaiNyte
      @JeddaiNyte Год назад +1

      I'm no expert on sociology or philosophy, but I'd be willing to bet that a lot of cultures and belief systems have a concept that could be translated as "hell". There shouldn't be a Sin here, regardless, since Star Wars characters have been referencing hell since 1977:
      Uncle Owen: "[...] or there'll be hell to pay."
      Han Solo: "Then I'll see you in hell!"
      Finn: "That's one hell of a pilot!"

    • @LukeMaps
      @LukeMaps Год назад +1

      @@JeddaiNyte Good point--they have done this before--also Lando "A heavenly body." But "hell" would seem like something that would have a different name in the Star Wars galaxy since they don't call Chewie a "mog--half man, half dog--I'm my own best friend." (Also, they call Christmas, "Life Day," but we don't talk about that.) Then again, there is that guy Porkins in Star Wars [A New Hope] who is clearly (and perhaps slightly cruelly) named after the farm animal known for its pudgy likeness. I guess it's simpler to watching while accepting that some things are the same as our world--like that one of the droids is just a painted water plug. More importantly, to me, is that the swearing makes the shows/movies worse because it can encourage viewers' swearing, even if it's a nerfherder like Han. "Hell" and "heaven" are fine when used in proper context, but when they're used so flimsily, they tend to lose their effectiveness.

    Technically, the reason for lack of shields is, in fact, for speed and mobility. They are faster and have better agility (for lack of better terms) than Xwings which is why we see so many Xwings get slaughtered by TIEs. And how, while Stormtroopers are considered a joke, TIE fighters are not.

    TIE Fighters were made to be cheap and disposable. Top of the line guns, some decent maneuvering jets, and a seat for some poor soul who will almost certainly die in it. lol
    I mean, yes, absolutely the Empire could have afforded shields, and in fact the TIE Bomber and TIE Interceptor have quite powerful shields. But, ultimately they just didn't give a fuck about the ground level troops. The Empire's style was more, "wave after wave of my own men." lmfao
    Though... Moff Gideon is a Moff (I know, big shocker huh? lol). He clearly has a modified TIE, so it might actually have shields... Ion or Ray shielding protects against laser blasts, it wouldn't have done anything in that scene anyway. lmfao
