I got a year and a half for fighting an off duty police officer who was assaulting children at a Christmas parade. My first offense ever! I lost everything because of how racist the system is. Why was I charged when the police who broke it up agreed with me for what I did but took his side after they found out he was a cop. I’m tired of being black but I swear it’s a blessing that I am.

The movie was sent to Sundance and picked up by lions gate and that’s when Oprah and Tyler Perry came on. At that point she had fulfilled her contract. They then asked her to do a press tour for the film. That was never negotiated. She asked for more money which she should of had because it required more work.

I respect Monique for standing in her truth but I will say this: The world is made up of all kind of people and various industries, there are certain situations that you might not agree with or feel comfortable with and you just might have to shift your mode a bit for things to run smoothly, even if you are uncomfortable with. Sometimes if not, you deal with the consequences. How many times in the workplace, your boss ask you to get something done but you aren't in agreement with it but you do it anyway because it's your job. Are you going to tell your boss no everytime, then prepare yourself to be fired or not get paid. Once Monique was prepared and understood that, hey, I might not get cast again or I might be seen as difficult, then cool. But also, I get that Monique wanted to spend time with her family, hence she didn't want to promote the show, but in Hollywood, it's all about being flexible, sometimes the Hollywood life, calls for you spending time away from family and also promos of movies, are sometimes done for free. If you can't understand that, then she need to change career paths. Hollywood is not for her then.

The movie was sent to Sundance and picked up by lions gate and that’s when Oprah and Tyler Perry came on. At that point she had fulfilled her contract. They then asked her to do a press tour for the film. That was never negotiated. She asked for more money which she should of had because it required more work.

Re: the Mo'Nique situation: Pride and ego are REAL. Tyler and Mo'Nique could easily have a sit down and then go on a couple of black radio shows like Sway in the Morning to put on a united front, but pride and ego are in the way. All they have to do on Sway is say: "We're all black. We all had to work to get here. We don't agree on everything, but we do agree that we are much stronger on the same team than on warring sides. Monique was asked to be a team player and do the press tour with accomdattions but not for money because Precious was an independent film and didn't have money to pay her but Oprah sent her private jet to pick up Monique.
It was explained to Monique several times what would happen to her career if she didn't do the press for Cannes and it did.
Speaking of being a team Oprah, Tyler and Lee were handling the financial end trying to line up funding from a major studio and a distribution deal all Monique had to do was the press for FIVE days. That was it, but Monique refused to be a part of the team so why should anyone want to speak to Monique after she told Tyler, Lee, and Oprah to suck her dack if she had one.
Why should Tyler meet with her after he agreed that Monique was underpaid for Precious even though she got 5% of the ticket sale and he was going to pay her out of his own pocket but she secretly recorded the conversation and released it to the public?

I don't think Amy Schumer is funny but she has a big fan base. Amy was able to create a bidding war (Netflix, HBO etc) for her comedy special. After Dave's last special "The Closer", we learned he was signed to a six special deal for $120+ million. Wanda Sikes said Netflix offered her low pay. She said no thank you then went to another network who did.

I respect Monique for standing in her truth but I will say this: The world is made up of all kind of people and various industries, there are certain situations that you might not agree with or feel comfortable with and you just might have to shift your mode a bit for things to run smoothly, even if you are uncomfortable with. Sometimes if not, you deal with the consequences. How many times in the workplace, your boss ask you to get something done but you aren't in agreement with it but you do it anyway because it's your job. Are you going to tell your boss no everytime, then prepare yourself to be fired or not get paid. Once Monique was prepared and understood that, hey, I might not get cast again or I might be seen as difficult, then cool. But also, I get that Monique wanted to spend time with her family, hence she didn't want to promote the show, but in Hollywood, it's all about being flexible, sometimes the Hollywood life, calls for you spending time away from family and also promos of movies, are sometimes done for free. If you can't understand that, then she need to change career paths. Hollywood is not for her then.
