Besides, who could resist putting on their Wagner, given this opportunity? Anyone else have 'Flight of the Valkyries' playing in their head, right now?
Philip Ellwell I just need to see this done in real life, or a skit. When you get asked a question in an interview, twirl. The teacher calls you out when you haven't the answer, twirl. The end of your first date... twirl xD
Philip Ellwell i actually once did that when two dudes approached me from two different directions to talk to me about green peace and i kinda panicked. i must've confused them a lot because they forgot to talk about green peace and told me i got 'cool moves'
Teensy Malinda is absolutely adorable. Also, just because you said you'd never get to play him again, I now request you do one of The Artful Dodger's songs for Google Translate Sings (not that I've ever seen Oliver or know what songs he actually HAS). Or a cover, whichever.
I'M BIOLOGICALLY FEMALE AND WE'RE DOING OLIVER FOR OUR NEXT SCHOOL MUSICAL AND I WANT TO PLAY DODGER SO BAD AND THAT JUST GAVE ME SO MUCH HOPE OMG THANK YOU
I mean this sincerely- I'd pick Kid Malinda over Emma Watson to play Belle anyday of the week! :-) Edit: I also really liked your performance as the Artful Dodger. I humbly request a cover (straight or a GTS version) of "Why Should I Worry" from Oliver And Company :-)
'When in doubt, twirl' now there's a good life lesson! Just getting into your videos I'd wondered if you had an acting background because of those wonderful expressions in your Google Translates, seeing that last clip was awesome!
I wanna see your whole Dodger performance. You are hilarious but in a good way, because if I had sat in the crowd I might have had just as much of a blast as you.
As an old geezer who had the pleasure of seeing Broadway musicals of the 50s,60s,and 70s, I can say that you would have fit right in with the stars of that period.Even going back to the "Golden Age", composers like Rodgers and Hammerstein,Hart, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, and others would have loved you in their shows. If you had been around then, the Broadway Divas of that time would have been looking over their shoulders. Your personality, voice, on stage/camera presence especially bring to mind the greats Mary Martin and Barbara Cook. Really.
Ah, blue eyeshadow. Every woman between the ages of 20 and 30 has been there. And regrets it. But would probably geek out and spend far too much money on it if we found the exact same shade tomorrow.
I know this is a weird tangent to go on, but people who are learning English should really check out Malinda's channel. Her voice is just so clear and she enunciates every word without it sounding fake or over the top. Super easy to understand.
heyitslarib Classically trained singers tend to be like that. Watch an interview of an opera singer like Renee Fleming or Susan Graham and you'll the same clarity and precise enunciation in their speech.
I thought of Thomas Sanders when I read the title hahah I've said it before and I'll say it again, a collab between you two would be Epic. Also, you were super cute, this was a perfect video
I'm so happy to be able to introduce my cousin to your channel, as she's an aspiring theater actress with a beautiful voice. All of her theatricality really shined when she played the Cat In The Hat in Sussical.
First off I have to chuckle - you have all of these memories on DVDs. Those of us growing up in the earlier years (or maybe a few years before) the digital age didn't quite have that. Maybe VHS or Home movies, if that, otherwise 35mm stills :) What I would give to have the ability to go back and look at past performances, either in the pit orchestras, on stage (good ol' Gilbert & Sullivan), or doing set work and lighting design ("Once Upon A Mattress", 1985, off-Broadway, but one of my most fun and memorable moments - I've still got the lighting plots). It's wonderful to be able to view these with you and have a laugh, but what I really see are those foundations that made you what you are today. Every one of those clips should make you proud of what you've accomplished. What I'd like to see is how your mom and dad react to seeing those videos again. From what we've seen of your family, they would be the proudest parents in the world! Thanks for sharing those!
Lets just say that your entrance game will be forever better than mine. My best entrance was probably walking through a closed curtian to music... As a narrator. Btw, I have had better roles 😂 like Dorothy in the wizard of oz. Maybe there's something connected with good roles and 10 year olds... 😂
Kayla Longstaff my best entrance was coming in from the audience and just standing there awkwardly, then lining up with a bunch of other girls, and then my friend walked across the stage, and his character was supposed to ‘do a double take’ and it was really awkward. Ok, just had to get that out of my system. That was a fun musical.
OMG!!!!! I'm doing Beauty and the Beast this Saturday and Sunday and when you said you did it too I FLIPPED OUT!!!! I was a little late to the video because I was at practice. I'm the Beast and I'm going to pass out from excitement! :D
When I was 8 or 9 I attempted to reach Kenny Rodger's low notes (and failed miserably) and you...YOU WERE FREAKING NAILING THAT VIBRATTO!!!!!!!! AND DANCING!!!! I FORGOT THE LYRICS OF A SONG RIGHT BEFORE I SANG TO MY KINDERGARTEN TEACHER!!
I'm glad I'm not the only girl that's played the male lead before. I was a male shark in West Side Story two years ago, understudy for Mr. Mushnik in Little Shop of Horrors last year, and I played King Claudius in my school's production of Hamlet this year. I guess I'm just destined to always crossdress for shows xD
I have always had a problem being myself in front of people. Musical theater gave me that opportunity. The anxiety seemed to melt away. I really enjoyed watching these clips.
Just watching all your videos of your performance of you in your musicals. It makes me think about all the plays i used to be in growing up. Even the ones i been in though my High school days 😉.
Edges is an interesting pick for a high school show! Actually sung Lying There in year 12, it was one of my favourites. I didn't know how to belt properly either :P So I sung that in a really loud head voice (idk what you'd call that though). Now that song is extra depressing because I understand it.
I can totally relate to the artful dodger thing because I played ladalord from James and the giant peach, and o was wearing basically the same thing and it was so much fun. especially since the whole outfit (top hat, tailcoat, and all) was sparkly pink. However I never quite played it as a guy or a girl, but the character was male.
The people at my middle school only did plays not musicals because they wanted people who couldn’t sing to be included. There was sometimes roles that sang and when they learned that I was committed to drama club and a good actor they started picking shows that had singing parts. I got all of the singing parts but then finally got a break in 7th grade when all the singing parts were very small roles and I got the lead. I wish that we did musicals but at the same time I’m glad we didn’t because by the show my voice would be dead.
I think I know that this is really all about: You came here not by fluke, luck or accident, at least not only. You came to where you are today by talent, hard work, and of course luck. Someone that never put in the hours to become an actor/singer will never become a star, they can at best be the comic relief in the auditions episode of a "no one got talent" show.
I love that in my town we've got enough boys doing theatre to fill main male roles but I'm still kinda annoyed cuz I wanna play all the guy roles/ the closest I got to that was being a background member of the t-birds in a small production of grease.
This video's the reason why I found Thomas Sanders - thank you for that, Malinda! You two are both of my favourite RUclipsrs, and should definitely collab!
I've always wanted to be in a school musical, but my only opportunity was "The Aristocats" in 5th grade. I auditioned for Marie, but I didn't get the role, so I was in the ensemble with the rest of my class. My high school doesn't have a theatre club, so I guess I'll be joining one in college?
When I have a bunch of musical performances under my belt, I’m gonna do this. I already watched my AristoCats performance, and I have to admit, I kinda sucked, considering I worked for so long on that play. **sniff**
My performances were also weird: Junie B. Jones; a weird mix between Frozen, Magic Tree house, and Jurassic Park; Annie; The Grunch (not Grinch); Knights of the Round Table. I am currently doing Nightmare Before Christmas as the Zombie Bass Player
My theatrical experience: playing an Oompa Loompa in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 5th grade for drama club. Such skill. Lead part, obviously. I won't brag about my EXTREME talent ;)
My school does not do plays or drama. ☹️ It used to, but the teacher retired. Of course, we cannot do plays right now, but I was too shy to act when we had plays, and now I regret not auditioning.
Virtal well, not really. Women couldn’t act until the reign of King Charles II in the Stuart era in the 1600’s, so until then, men played women and it DEFINITELY wasn’t the other way around
CORRECTION!!! Most men couldn't work as men, so they used the most obvious solution! Have adolescent boys play women! Because women can't play women, that's ridiculous!

I did Beauty and the beast in fifth grade!!! I was a male villager, even though I am a female, because I am an alto and they didn’t have any boys while one of my best friends got Belle I peaked at 11
Putting on the viking hat and that big opera note. That is what theater is all about.
yas!!!!
Exactly.
Besides, who could resist putting on their Wagner, given this opportunity? Anyone else have 'Flight of the Valkyries' playing in their head, right now?
Yes I lived that!
Um did anyone else notice that half this stuff isn't even cringey and is actually pretty impressive?
"When in doubt, twirl" might save you from awkward conversations
Philip Ellwell I just need to see this done in real life, or a skit. When you get asked a question in an interview, twirl. The teacher calls you out when you haven't the answer, twirl. The end of your first date... twirl xD
Officer: Do you know how fast you were going?
Person: *Twirls several times*
Philip Ellwell i actually once did that when two dudes approached me from two different directions to talk to me about green peace and i kinda panicked. i must've confused them a lot because they forgot to talk about green peace and told me i got 'cool moves'
That might work on the cable people at Walmart:
"Sir, would you like to hear about our free cable hookup?"
Me: *does fancy twirls in other direction*
*Awkwardly wants to keep this conversation going*
*Twirls into comment*
A wise person once said. " Gradually Watermelon "
Well I like shapes so
Darren Auberry and every day I find some new railway
Daemi Ax 😂😂😂
Ya? Well my linen’s such a *spices*
Push and pull like the work of change
i thought your voice as a child was amazing!!
Exactly my thought. This is far from cringe-worthy. I think it's fantastic!
Maggie 132 it was better than mine...
Maggie 132 it still is!
Young Malinda was so dramatic and I love it
Yes great fun and thank you for sharing! When are you going to reprise your role as Olivia Twist? :D
Dralinda
WOT YE STARRIN AT
Ikr lol
Teensy Malinda is absolutely adorable. Also, just because you said you'd never get to play him again, I now request you do one of The Artful Dodger's songs for Google Translate Sings (not that I've ever seen Oliver or know what songs he actually HAS). Or a cover, whichever.
Jessica Källberg thatd be hilarious
I was in doubt, so I twirled to the like button
you were soo cute as a kid!!! Makes me wish i tried joining the plays my high school had even though i am terrified of singing in front of people lol
MKR - cute and talented at all ages. Watching those dvd's in your dotage will make you glad you have them!
I got on RUclips at the right moment!

I'M BIOLOGICALLY FEMALE AND WE'RE DOING OLIVER FOR OUR NEXT SCHOOL MUSICAL AND I WANT TO PLAY DODGER SO BAD AND THAT JUST GAVE ME SO MUCH HOPE OMG THANK YOU
Jaden Fox post it on your channel please
Whut..?
This must be the 'Beauty and the Beast' performance where Malinda wore that yellow dress she re-used for one of her videos.
snoproblem right! she mentioned that in the Once Upon A December video.
YOUR HAIR IS ON FLEEK I JUST CAN'T
I mean this sincerely- I'd pick Kid Malinda over Emma Watson to play Belle anyday of the week! :-)
Edit: I also really liked your performance as the Artful Dodger. I humbly request a cover (straight or a GTS version) of "Why Should I Worry" from Oliver And Company :-)
Jean Gentry I agree, but brits don't have an accent when they sing. Common mistake.
Well, not unless they try to keep it at least.
Daedalus 27 of course.
I'd agree, but having an actress as young as Kid Malinda might be getting too close to creepy territory...
Timothy McLean fair point- but id still choose her- just rework some things 😃
Your London accent wasn't too bad. My parents are both true cockneys but I'm a little messed up. I'm too posh apparently 😂
+OPFreak 100%! The combination of the over the top accent and physicality that Malinda showed made it so hilarious!
OPFreak yes id love that so much

I NEED THIS [she should do it with brian hull though]
Omg how do u have that much talent
It's not talent, it's work and passion.
Alicia Ello PHANDOM!!!!!
“lesbian love in oliver twist” *slow clap*

A. You were a very dramatic 9 year old.
B. You were so lucky to experience that much of theater, acting, and singing all through your childhood.
Ohh I hope her channel grows I love MKR sooooooo much
I'm so happy to be able to introduce my cousin to your channel, as she's an aspiring theater actress with a beautiful voice.
All of her theatricality really shined when she played the Cat In The Hat in Sussical.

Be as self-critical as you want. You could tell how talented you were then.
"When in doubt, twirl." Best advice ever lol. That accent in the last clip was awesome.
this is amazing. I have such a big smile on my face
BURD MOOVMENTZ 🤣👏 I dies and cannot stop watching that bit lol
in the first clip you were IN TO IT GIRL!
You at 10: Dancing and singing in musicals and operas
Me at 10: Trying not to trip and fall while walking
Omg this is honestly the best one I've seen, your so talented even when you were young ❤️❤️❤️
I'd like to see Malinda sing some of these old songs with her grown-up singing skills. And maybe a dash of Google Translate.

You should do a google translate of a song from Heathers!
WELL FUCK ME GENTLY WITH A CHAINSAW

I have always had a problem being myself in front of people. Musical theater gave me that opportunity. The anxiety seemed to melt away. I really enjoyed watching these clips.
...and nothing has changed in your theatricality.. and we LOVE IT!!!! keep it up.
Just watching all your videos of your performance of you in your musicals. It makes me think about all the plays i used to be in growing up.
Even the ones i been in though my High school days 😉.
Malinda, you've always been beautiful and talented. There's no one I'd rather listen to than you. Your voice is amazing 💖
I love the intro
where do u get the background music
before the video starts GOOD LUCK😂❤
...always a theatrical little bugger... and we LOVE it!
I love how she said, "I love you." It was like a command. 😂
Ahahahahahahahaha fish and ships! I get it! Never heard that one before...
That was a really fun watch! I like how you're secure enough to show this. 🙂
And that Viking hat moment. No wonder you've come so far. 😄
Definitely fun, and great to see you progress. It's plain to see how you got to be the amazing performer you are today.
Edges is an interesting pick for a high school show! Actually sung Lying There in year 12, it was one of my favourites. I didn't know how to belt properly either :P So I sung that in a really loud head voice (idk what you'd call that though). Now that song is extra depressing because I understand it.

I can imagine the awkward level when Malinda (Belle) had to say I love you to some random kid
The people at my middle school only did plays not musicals because they wanted people who couldn’t sing to be included. it was just sooo cute!
how could you get so comfortable and self-confident that age?
you are just amassing,
"What ya starin' at"
me to literally all of my friends when i do something weird
I don't want to one up you or anything, but when I was eleven I was already playing flower girl 3 in my school musical.
Jolien Van Dijk I played villagers wife and pearl lol
i can totally second the fact that dodger is so fun to play. i got to be dodger my freshman year and it was amazing!!! can never top it
"I'll never to to preform this role again" GO GET YOUR MUSICAL RUclips FRIENDS TOGETHER AND PREFORM OLIVER TWIST FOR US!
You were amazing as a kid! I haven't heard a kid use vibrato like that...it was pretty good! I seriously envy your talent.

In our school the first two years of secondary school we have to do music and drama. You’ve also really inspired me to work hard in those subjects!
How someone can be so beautiful! 😭💜
Can't wait till i'm your age and going back and looking at the time I was The Ginerbread Man in my 7th grade production of SHREK
I really loved this video, can't wait to look back to all my musicals in a couple of years 😍
I love that in my town we've got enough boys doing theatre to fill main male roles but I'm still kinda annoyed cuz I wanna play all the guy roles/ the closest I got to that was being a background member of the t-birds in a small production of grease.
This video's the reason why I found Thomas Sanders - thank you for that, Malinda! You two are both of my favourite RUclipsrs, and should definitely collab!
It was also a very nostalgic move to wear the identical shirt from your "Moments With Malinda" thumbnail for the duration of this video.
your great Malinda, thanks for the transportation though your life 😎😍😍😍😍😍
I've always wanted to be in a school musical, but my only opportunity was "The Aristocats" in 5th grade. I auditioned for Marie, but I didn't get the role, so I was in the ensemble with the rest of my class. My high school doesn't have a theatre club, so I guess I'll be joining one in college?

Loooove it! Fun to watch, with that looking back flavor of nostalgia. :)

you're welcome, friends
Your commentary was hilarious. Loved this! ~Lyddie
My school does not do plays or drama. ☹️ It used to, but the teacher retired. Of course, we cannot do plays right now, but I was too shy to act when we had plays, and now I regret not auditioning.
There was a time when men played women.
Sarah Sears And when women played men.
Virtal women still play men a lot
I know
Virtal well, not really.
Love it! Thanks for sharing.
you've always been so talented. just awesome.
You need to post more! I love watching your videos
You look exactly the same as when you were a kid!!!!!
In my school they don't do theatre (I'm English) and it's so sad. I love drama and singing so much. It's not fair
The musicals that you did are so much better then mine. Last year we did Theseus and the Minotaur. What is that? No freaking idea.
I am sooo impressed by the second performance- I would probably be shaking like crazy if I was that high - I am scared of heights so that was pretty darn impressive to me, they all are :o
I'm watching this video with pirate metal on the background. I don't think it is quite fitting, but it is strangely enough quite pleasing.
So cute! You were always very talented.
U can dance so much well
Cannot wait for next week!!
I wish that I could like this twice!!!!
I did Beauty and the beast in fifth grade!!! I was a male villager, even though I am a female, because I am an alto and they didn’t have any boys while one of my best friends got Belle
I peaked at 11
