Yxj Ly my two favorite movies of all time pulp fiction and Shawshank redemption! And who do you think they gave it to? GUMP:( good but not as good as those two!
No - I think it's spongebob himself hiding from Patrick because he kept bullying him to plus mister crab - lol ☺ Plus gold or perhaps even jules soul or maybe whatever anyone else wants it to be
Not knocking on Tarantino or anyone else who employ this "use your imagination" technique in their work. However, tbh it can be annoying and an easy resolution to something as opposed to coming up with a definite answer that makes sense. Lemme empirically figure out the truth, dammit! Lol nah it's his shit though so he can do whatever he wants. But still...
Also take into consideration that whatever was in the briefcase was recognizable by Ringo, so while it's an interesting theory, I kinda doubt it's his soul. Also the original script for the movie had the case containing diamonds but was changed at the last minute. I always had assumed they were the diamonds from Reservoir Dogs.
You know what though you might be onto something. Tarantino did say all his movies occur in the same world, so its very possible that they are the diamonds from the Reservoir dogs :)
FilmComicsExplained I always thought that was cool, each one of his movies are all interconnected, hell even Tim Roths character in the hateful 8 was the grandfather of Michael Fassbenders character in Inglorious Basterds. And there was just so much stuff that didn't make it to the screens that made me come to this conclusion with the diamonds. Hell there was supposed to be a movie about Mr Blondes character and Vincent Vega. Victor and Vincent Vega. So there's even that connection.
Yep, I was about to make the same comment, then I saw that Knight Wraith had the same thought I did -- Ringo seemed to know what it was, and he wanted it. Same argument can be said for it being yellow cake Uranium, most people wouldn't know what they were looking at. Other than that one scene, the evidence for it being Marcellus' soul is a good one, a very good one!
Yes, that makes sense -- in this world, souls might be something that are recognizable to others, just VERY rare. Now I agree, that briefcase has Marcellus' soul! Muhahahaha "Tarantinoverse" -- I like that.
On a more serious note I fully believe it Marcellus' soul. There to many subtle and not quite so subtle hints to this as the story goes. There is no earthly item that would cause the jaw dropping, breath skipping response we see those who open the case get on sight of the contents. It also explains why Samuel goes on to live, showing his belief and recognition of God's existence and intervention and Travolta, even after seeing the soul for himself and watching a miracle first hand, still denies God and so looses his life. I've always believed it was his soul but you pointed out the halos on their heads which, even after all these years I hadn't noticed so thanks for that. Great video, keep it up.
Aaaaaaddddd yeah but it would only drop for a second or two but they truly looked surprised and a little scared at what was inside of the case, there's no way it was something that they've seen before because they reacted like that.
I believe this theory also if you notice Samuel L Jackson’s character never actually looked in the briefcase, he only showed what was in it. While John Travoltas character saw what was in it (his soul) & ultimately died. I believe the diner couple would suddenly die also since they were shown what was in the suitcase. But samuels character believed in God & was protected ultimately which is why he left the game.
‘94 was a great year and Pulp Fiction always takes me back. Me and a buddy went to see it out in theaters and we had that briefcase conversation a few times!
Nah, I think still think it's the stolen diamonds from the heist in RD, it makes more sense to me than Wallace somehow got his Soul back from the Devil after selling it for Power and Money (which would make for a really good movie idea).
Especially since three losers are the ones that had it.. just dumb.. but Tarantino is a lazy mofo for not being specific. I hate how shit some writers are when it comes to that... A macguffin!? 😂 So you're too lazy or stupid to use something that makes sense to the plot.
I always thought that it was the diamonds from the heist in RD too. Marcellus Wallace was supposed to be the "Fence " for the diamonds, but is somehow double crossed. REMEMBER, in RD we never get to know the fate of the diamonds, we only assume that the character played by Steve Buscemi is shot down by police, we never actually know what happened. All of the biblical references and dogmatic hints do point to the "Soul Theory.
When I first saw the movie, I thought it would be either a declaration of independence or a rare painting. However, it would make sense to have the case contain the diamonds.
In the final scene of the movie, when Ringo asks Jules about the briefcase contents, "Is that what I think it is?", Jules nods and replies"mmm hmm". That's the answer...it's what you think it is.
They're all drug interactions peddlers in the apartment and the guy who came out of restroom blasting away with the firearm weapon 🔫 was extremely likely to be protecting the stash so most likely there's some kind of illicit drugs in the briefcase
It's Marcellus' soul, that's why the briefcase combination is "666". The reason for the band-aid in the back of Marcellus's neck is the result of making a deal with the devil. The Devil makes a slit in the back of your neck and pulls your soul through it.
No, the reason it is 666 is because that's the only combo that would be edgy and/or kitschy. That's the rationale behind everything in every tarantino film.
In the epilogue, pumpkin (Tim Roth’s character) says something like “is that what I think it is”. Based on that I think it’s some rare artefact, possibly made of gold or some other very shiny metal
I also think the three henchman we saw represented some of the 7 deadly sins. The one at the table is gluttony, the one on the couch is sloth, and the stormtrooper is wrath.
It is NOT Marsellus Wallace's soul. Vincent Vega is a logical man - witness his argument over pigs versus dogs: "So, if a pig had more personality, he'd cease to be a filthy animal..." In the apartment, Vincent opens the case and looks inside. Jules asks (twice), "We happy?" Vincent replies, "We happy." IF Vincent had just gazed upon a disembodied soul, he would not then be so completely dismissive of a miracle; of the involvement of god in making the kid with the hand cannon miss every shot. But he IS dismissive. "It was just coincidence." If you've just seen a disembodied soul, you're at least going to admit the possibility that there are supernatural explanations. Vincent does not even grant the possibility. He utterly rejects it. Therefore, Vincent did NOT see a disembodied soul in the case.
if it was precious metals, it would have been too heavy. if it where uranium i would call bullshit. my grandfather used to work as a welder for a uranium mining operation, the security measures taken there too prevent contamination (and maintain secrecy) would have made any attempt to steal anything futile, also if it where yellow cake uranium, vincent probably wouldn't even recognize it for what it is. if it where a soul, i doubt vincent would have reacted the way he did. in all honesty, given vincents reaction, it would have to be something he is handling at the regular or is at least very familiar with so my conclusion has always been that the briefcase contains large amounts of unspecified drugs (most likely cocaine or heroin) given that this would both please vincent, while also not shocking him at all.
I have always thought it was Marsellus Wallace’s soul. I think that the band-aid was definitely intentional, it is the highlight of a new scene. I always did the “what else could it be?” as you did. I agree with you 100%.
bro, i thought the exact same but apparently the bandaid he had was actuallly just a bandaid the actor just happened to be wearing lmao. Still think it is his soul tho

The thing about the scene with the 4th person in the apartment coming out, shooting and missing - is that all the bullet holes are in the wall prior to the shots being fired. He didn’t contribute to any new holes. That tells me his gun contained blanks.

Hermes is closely associated with Sabazios and is represented on the bronze hands, probably because of his role as instructor and Psychopompos; i.e. the position played by the mystagogue in the Sabazian mysteries. The gesture of the hands simply denoted the knowledge acquired through the initiation. The symbols on the hands are often associated with the Underworld, and it is suggested that knowledge acquired in the Sabazian mysteries dealt with life after death and the Underworld...''underworld'' crime/gangsters? ..and that time on Jimmy's clock could have been 8:17= 8 8 solar and lunar analemma (shape made by them over a year)=time -could mean ''afraid''. It’s an infinity stone, hence joules goes on to “walk the earth”, find his place. And does so as Nick Fury. In winter soldier when he “dies”, read the headstone, “the path of the righteous man...”.
Sometimes a work of genius can come from the details you consciously ignore. I think you nailed it in the first few minutes of the video. Tarentino didn’t think too hard about what’s in the briefcase. I doubt he put much thought into at all. The point is how it drives the characters.
Would Travolta's character really have so much trouble believing in divine intervention if it were a literal soul? It was something recognizable by anyone seeing it, Tim Roth's character recognized it but he wasn't certain if what he was seeing was real. I think that's the greatest clue as to its nature, it's something most people would recognize. The glow might not even be literal, instead perceived due to how it absorbs someone's attention. I always thought it was something like a huge diamond.
...but that is exactly how some of the angels were in heaven...even though they knew God...their doubt of God's power lead 1/3 of them to leave heaven and follow Lucifer...
The Movie insinuates that it was drugs in the case the Devils Dust and probably a 10 kilo brick the gold shining was the inner gold lined sealed probably break proof bullet proof containment unit built into the briefcase Ringo was really inquiring what drug could it be and is it real like 100% pure
I have noticed that the only characters who looked in the case onscreen are Vincent and Ringo. Vincent is clearly blown away by what he saw, and Ringo describes it as "beautiful" like he's seen God as opposed to something worth a lot of money. The same glow is seen when Vincent and Jules shoot Brett down, so I reckon whatever it was, it was something divine that subjected Vincent to a moral test when he opened the case and looked inside, but he failed when he ignored God's sign to quit his life of crime, shot Marvin, picked a fight with Butch, used heroin (hence he was always needing to go to the bathroom), was tempted by Mia and almost killed her because of his addiction. Those things ultimately led to his death. I think the case was a divine object that Marsellus used to test people. Jules was basically leading Vincent to this moral test and he clearly knew what would happen if Ringo looked into it, hence his reluctance to open it. Ringo was basically subjected to the same moral test as Vincent, hence his line "I'm trying real hard to be the shepherd". The three men with the briefcase (not including Marvin) must have looked in the case to know what they're stealing, and they were killed for screwing Marsellus over. Assuming my theory is correct, 4 of the 7 characters killed looked in the briefcase, and 2 of the remaining 3 were killed by Butch, but he got away alive because he never looked in the briefcase, and the other by Vincent (Marvin). Note how both Vincent and Butch accidentally kill someone, but neither show any remorse for it, but Vincent is the one who pays the price because he looked in the case.
There's nothing more pure than truth. I too subscribe to the soul theory. When people get a look in the case, their heart skips a beat and they are momentarily awestruck. Gold is nice, but I'm not sure it has that same jaw dropping affect. Although, for the sake of context, a single gold bar, 99.5% pure, 12.3 kg (9.7 lb) is worth over $500k in today's market. Even getting screwed with a 50% exchange fee will still get street criminals $250k tax free. A soul is worth more than that...if you believe in that sort of thing.
I'd say by simple economics a soul is worth love, boundless riches, extraordinary power, and/or vengeance. These are the sorts of prices it will fetch...
I already had this theory as the reason but your elaboration went further than my own and blew my mind with all the little details you picked up on. Thanks for being so enlightening.
I met Tarantino in a hotel bar about 12 years ago. After a few beers he told me that in the case was in fact a golden egg laid by the goose in Jack & the Beanstalk and the giant was Marcel Wallace who wanted it back.
Pulp Fiction takes place in the MCU: - Marcellus Wallace is actually the ravager Charlie 27 disguised as a crime Lord on Earth to retrieve the soul stone. - Jules was Nick Fury all this time, he was an undercover CIA agent that after the events of PF decided to quit but then SHiELD recruited him prior to the 1995 events of Cap Marvel - Pumpkin was actually Emil Blonsky, the ex KGB special agent was also in a undercover mission
Totally agree. Also explains why travoltas char dies in act 2 he didn't take the hint so god withdrew his protection and cast him down with Willis's char

Almost impossible to imagine the year Pulp fiction released we also had films like Forest gump and Shawshank redemption. Take me back to the 90s when films were actually films and not over the top mindless super hero flicks.

It’s Marcellus Wallace’s soul. Hence the introductory shot of Wallace being zoomed in on a BandAid on the back of his neck and repeated statements about how it doesn’t belong to anyone else.
If I had to guess, it's Marcellus soul based on the large bandage at the base of his medulla oblongata. He paid the two henchman to get it back, it became more evident when the henchman pumped bullets into the chap that had the brief case. The same golden hue is suggested as his soul leaving his body when they murk him.
I just noticed this now but when the 4th demon misses all 6 shots and they’re looking each other over, there’s a cross in the top left corner above Vincent’s head, which further indicates that God is watching over them

This is why I subscribed! An answer to a question I never knew I wanted an answer to.
Ozymandias yet you still don’t know wtf Is in the case
WILLOW DAT U True. But no one else was attempting to find out. I gave a 👍for the attempt.
The soul theory fits almost perfectly, makes the movie flourish even more
Another good job filmcomicsexplained
Thanks Pavita!
"4 of the '7' characters"
thala for a reason
Its from an episode from tales from the crypt where the doctor found out the back of the neck is where the soul is located.
I already had this theory as the reason but your elaboration went further than my own and blew my mind with all the little details you picked up on. Thanks for being so enlightening.
this was a great video to wake up to bro nice work.
I met Tarantino in a hotel bar about 12 years ago. After a few beers he told me that in the case was in fact a golden egg laid by the goose in Jack & the Beanstalk and the giant was Marcel Wallace who wanted it back.
I love the theory of the soul, but I've also liked the theory it's the holy grail. It's more likely his soul, but still a neat theory.
now that is what I said. I was thinking the holy grail or some religous object as everyone recognizes what it is.
Pulp Fiction takes place in the MCU:
- Marcellus Wallace is actually the ravager Charlie 27 disguised as a crime Lord on Earth to retrieve the soul stone.
- Jules was Nick Fury all this time, he was an undercover CIA agent that after the events of PF decided to quit but then SHiELD recruited him prior to the 1995 events of Cap Marvel
- Pumpkin was actually Emil Blonsky, the ex KGB special agent was also in a undercover mission
Totally agree. Also explains why travoltas char dies in act 2 he didn't take the hint so god withdrew his protection and cast him down with Willis's char
Lmfao you must be on crack.. God? Lmao
Snow Blind Not everyone who saw it died. As far as I’m aware, Ringo doesn’t die.
No he died before he saw the brief case . its all flip flop. Duh eerrrrrr
And i tats a movie but at the same tyme tats how life be and i say tat because the stuff they put movies came from real life nutin new under the sun from horror movies to future movies its been done. I feel we been here before again and again
Man, I love Pulp Fiction and it puts me in such a happy place!! Love it so much! Can’t believe it’s turning 30 this year!!
I once read a book that talked about extracting someone’s soul from the base of their neck. Wish I could remember the name. It was well over 20 years ago..🤔
Almost impossible to imagine the year Pulp fiction released we also had films like Forest gump and Shawshank redemption. Take me back to the 90s when films were actually films and not over the top mindless super hero flicks.
*Sees FilmComicsExplained vid in notifications*
*Expects monster from a movie*
*See it's about Pulp Fiction*
*Yells*"YEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
*Enjoys*
It's a picture of me waving, and smiling with a golden tooth.
"Imma get medieval on that ass!" -- the most over used one liner I've borrowed from a movie ever since I first saw it.
Great background music you've used. Those frames brought to life much richer.
It a light bulb and a NOVACARE that says I AM THE OVERLORD OF THE BOX
why did ringo said “it’s beautiful” when he saw what’s inside the briefcase?!
Because he's a thief and he likes money.
Probably diamonds from Reservoir dogs
Him and his own girlfriend were both drug addicts Most likely just robbing for another score.
It’s Marcellus Wallace’s soul. Hence the introductory shot of Wallace being zoomed in on a BandAid on the back of his neck and repeated statements about how it doesn’t belong to anyone else.
I LOVE your theory on this! I never even thought of that! I always thought it was gold. But your theory is so much interesting
Very good mate. You answer the question of bunch of questions.
I just noticed this now but when the 4th demon misses all 6 shots and they’re looking each other over, there’s a cross in the top left corner above Vincent’s head, which further indicates that God is watching over them
Yep, God was on the gangster hit men's side that day.
@@moncorp1 ..the men in black are the cops/angel/demons..they are the authority; power..even Zed was just a security officer, and also obviously a rapist ie ''sinner''
Awesome I'm so glad you did a video on this!!!
OMG ITS ROGERS GOLDEN POOP.
From american Dad? lol
The stares they give are the same as people would give when seeing Rogers gem encrusted golden poop.
I was waiting so long for this comment to be seen lol.
*robbery at the diner scene*
Ringo: What's in the case?
Jules: My boss' dirty laundry
Cool vid bro
New to your channel but word around the camp fire was how you said it. Nice work and you didn't take too long to get your point across.
Im going with Tarantino's idea...
That its whatever you want it to be.
I'm not quite sure it's a soul? But I did get the impression of something otherworldly. Great video as always!
its just desire, the gold light, he literally said its anything you want it to be, its desire, you even want to make it more interesting, by believing its not, by saying its diamonds, its just a light shown in a film that triggers these feelings, its the soul urge to seek
Whoa man... That was some deep explaining there Mr. FCE Guy... Like it was so deep I sat here for literally 2 hours pondering that. Damn, you changed my entire comprehension of _Pulp Fiction_.
Are you a transformers fan? Which origin lore do you prefer more, Primus or Quintesson? Finally what are your thoughts about bayformers
Yeh I loved the comics, animations and the FIRST bayformers film. I dont know much about the origin lore, perhaps I'll have a look and do a video on it someday!
FilmComicsExplained the first bayformers yeah... after that ... meh!
Love that movie and your video. I have heard about this theory before. But your video explained it very nicely and clearly.
And its quite possible. Takes the movie to a completely new level.
You should do a video on what's in "The kit" in Cabin fever, that's always had my curiosity
You just made this move make so much damn sense to me after like 50 years! 😂 Now maybe explain Swordfish
Hey you Flock of Seagulls
My dude, this is a great interpretation of the plot! Well done
I really enjoyed this explanation. Could you do a more thorough analysis as to how the suitcase plays a role in each of the different narrative threads?
Alright i have to admit that your video sent chills down my spine and yes i agree with your idea. There was always that feeling that there was something going on that you just didnt understand in the film
there is a battery, wires, a switch, and a small conventional light bulb.
It's a big hunk of shinning gold with the word "McGuffin" written with sharpie on it
Never seen this movie, I just enjoy your videos. So Ill watch so you can get the view. :)
Thanks buddy!
Ginger Kubicz you should watch the movie it is really good.
mind blown
great video like always! keep it up
Thanks mate!
Such a great film in my opinion
I have heard that it was Mr. Wallace soul but it never was explained. Thanks great video!
"'Irish'pizzaman" I always thought pizza was Italian...
It was a Bitcoin trend graph sent from the year 2017 ...
My thoughts exactly, love this channel!
Been avid watcher of all your videos and when i get a notification when you post a new video i watch asap, thanks for making quality content.. im curious will you stick to films or are not partial to move on to a more diverce range of theroys like anime (dbz etc) or extreamly popular shows like HBO game of thrones. just asking dont take anything here as me wanting to change what you do because you do it best thanks again!
Hey TJ Im always open to new suggestions and good ideas :)
You will go far as a great youtuber :) Have a good day !!
Thanks buddy!
I think it’s just gold
Alright. Before I watch this I just want to say that when I first saw this in the theater the golden light filled the room. I immediately thought of the the Holy Grail. That's from my point of view obviously. So let's just get on with the video already.
The brilliance of ''It's existance is important to the story. But it's own story is not important.'' We'll never know.
Good job..
It's an academy award!
this is a repo man element in the movie, why everybody missing it?
wiith a taste of raiders of the lost ark
LOL @ "Yellow Cake" skit from Chapelle Show.
Hey, I’ve got a suggestion for a future video, it’s a zombie virus from the game Dying Light called the Herran virus
yep its on the list mate, thanks :)
Awesome!!!!!!!! Keep up the amazing work with the videos, I’ll be eager to see what you think of it 😜
Masterful work, once again!
Adrenochrome. It would explain MW's neck wound @ the base of his skull. Anyone here see 'I Come In Peace/ Dark Angel?
One of my all time faves! Thx for the vid :)
I'm still trying to figure out what was in the Chevrolet Malibu's trunk in 1984's Repo Man.
A golden Uzzi 9mm.
Made of pure gold.
The "Marcellus soul theory" is almost as old as the movie and probably correct.
Mike Mroczkowski
QT said it wasn’t
Don't drop that shit !!! I always did wonder how you miss so many shots this theory really clears that up for me. Great works as always :D
Can you create a discord and send a link
Discord server for this stuff would be pretty cool tbh
Will look into it, thanks :)
Another awesome video mate
Cheers mate!
It’s a mcguffin, next
Fair enough!
I've always thought it was a nod to Kiss Me Deadly.
However, it is probably two lights and some batteries.
😆
Bro I always enjoy your vids keep it up 🤘👌👍
We need this man to do audio books
