Thank you Chris~ This was difficult but I shutter everything i pray the sorrowful mystery where our Lord is scourged. i physically cannot sit still imaging what He went through for my sinful wretchedness I am so truly thankful for God's love, mercy and grace. I taught my catechism class about the sweating blood and then I stop and then say to the class “who in their right mind back 2,000 years ago would include such a crazy moment if they wanted people to believe the story UNLESS IT WAS TRUE.” Then I explain how I believe Jesus died - hypovolemic shock - in other words he lost so much blood in the scourging and crucifixion that He died. (Asphyxiation doesn’t sit right with me) Jesus bled every last drop for you and me. Lastly I mention to my class about the soldier piercing Jesus side and out comes blood and water. Again another crazy detail that you don’t expect to find in a story if you want people to believe you. UNLESS IT WAS TRUE. Buona Pasqua for Sunday.
