It's more effective to point out a flaw and then provide a viable solution, rather than just saying doesn't work . Videos like these do nothing other than point out the fact that the problem is actually more complex , and would require even more than a wall to make it work. Especially considering he's basing his entire argument on a fact that doesn't even account for less than half of estimated illegal immigrants in the country.
Using this wildly flawed logic, no solution should ever be tried, because it might not solve the entire problem. Many problems require more than one solution in conjunction to make them work.
Yeah but when the "solution" that is going to be tried would be hella expensive, tear the country apart, and ineffective, we should look for a better one. Especially if the "solution" can change many people's lives
Mike Carroll Better to point out a flaw in the proposed solution than let it go through without question
@@lucrio4088 It's not wrong to point out flaws. It's wrong to only point out flaws. Also, this proposed solution is not new. A similar solution was mentioned years prior to now, and was met with a lot less opposition.

-The border is less than 2000 miles and already has walls and/or fencing up in areas (which have shown an immense drop in illegal immigration and by extension crime by illegals). Concerning those "villages the wall isn't going to "Berlin-circa the Cold War" them, but rather the wall will extend around what is actually apart of the US.
-The wall would cost around 8 billion (give or take the contractor(s) bid and proposed material) and to run it would in reality cost pennies a day in comparison to the other bloated programs we have. Considering NASA gets a budget far beyond that, the useless programs we've invested in (Obamacare) and the amount that we give to foreign aid I think 8 billion in cost to make and less than that to maintain is a far better outcome than say a dramatic increase in an already inflated illegal population that is just being used by the Left for votes since their usual victims are starting to vote for other parties rather than the plantation. Oh and I doubt the wall would be monitored GoT-style with the Knights Watch looking for Illegal Walkers, but rather a cheaper system of a mix of guards, cameras and drones.
-Let's just say you could be possibly correct about that plane figure....maybe. That still leaves around 50% to 70% stopped at the border. So we're just supposed to ignore those people crossing because TSA is ignoring whose coming into the country? Oh and those illegals that came in via plane, well if you let ICE do their thing then that won't be a problem.
-The circular flow argument is irrelevant. There was nothing stopping them from leaving the US and going home, just returning. They took advantage of the system and just decided to live in Tucson rather than their village that most likely has problems that Tucson can't even fathom. Of course they're going to stay, why wouldn't they? Especially now when ICE agents are stopped from doing their job because of the Liberal "muh feels" policy.
-That bit about "Mexico's economy is doing better"...I mean when you're at rock bottom, there's not much else to do but go up. They're economy is worse than Brazil's though and considering that companies still abuse this system of outsourcing workers to Mexico or bringing them from Mexico should be some indication. Why pay a US Citizen a the very least minimum wage when you can get a Mexican worker to do it for LESS than minimum wage? Oh and those workers aren't helping us at all when they're sending all those earning back to Mexico instead of keeping it here in the US (at least a majority of it) that a US Citizen would.
-Technically we are in a weird kinda of war with the Cartel. They're tactics in crossing the border either via land, sea of air warrants us to adapt to stop the drug and human trafficking they are actively doing.
-We should deport those already here, but those with a criminal record. They've already shown to be a danger to not only US native born, but those who immigrated legally and illegally (who follow the laws...other than illegally being here). Those that don't have a criminal record we work on making them citizens and get them paying the same taxes the rest of us have to and stop living under the radar (and make the companies that pay them also pay the taxes that comes from having an addition to their workforce) and keeping out any additional illegals.
Kudos to you and your staff that makes an active effort to cherry picks the bits that work for your broken narrative and ignore the rest of the blinding truth.
No sources on this for anything. Also if there were a wall then the number of people coming here on visas would increase. And walls are not impenetrable.

yea, because the actual illegal immigrants went over planes (as said in the video) and just went to other places.
Where’s your source?
That mountain range he illustrated would reduce the cost. The mountain itself would be the wall. yeah someone could climb a mountain but it's not easy. The wall deters a percentage so that more resources can be focused on the tunnels and keeping track of visa overstay. All the apprehensions at the ports show that those area are being protected. The lack of apprehensions from the rest of the border shows we need security with a wall or something.
"Walls don't work and they might keep people from going back to Mexico..."
Which is it?
Actually it is both. People, who absolutely want to cross the wall (Mexico to US) will find a way to do so. This has been seen in Germany with the German Wall, that was secured far better and still lots of people escaped the east, even risking their lifes in the process and many dying.
But returning is something they just do to see their families, later they go back to the US to work there again. But the wall would make going back and forth a hassle and as they still need the money to support their family, they would most likely choose to stay in the US infinitely instead of just work there.
The first case is something they absolutely have to do, so they will do it, the second one is a preference and if they can't do it, that is okay, so they won't desperately try to.
Neither...

“27-40% of illegal immigration is on overstayed visas”
Okay, but at least 60% of illegal immigration comes across our border. If we have a sandwich with 40% ham and 60% crap, we’d still want to do something about that 60%.
@Lock Bresnar Can you word that better?
@Lock Bresnar well, we know that every word that guy says must be taken with a grain of salt
Yeah but the answer isn't a border wall. Illegal immigration from Mexico is decreasing (even though Mexicans make up biggest percentage of illegal immigrants). I personally believe we should increase the capacity of migrant workers. Most of illegal immigration occur because people want to work in US for money and bring it back to their country. Migrant workers are taxed under US laws fairly. Giving more leniency towards migrant workers can help further economic growth in Mexico. The reason why we have no border problem with Canada is simply that Canada is a wealthy country. The main reason Canada is wealthy is because US-Canada trade is probably one of the most valuable asset to Canadian economy. Look at Vancouver and Seattle border. Basically people can move between countries without that much documents and border checks because of the economical incentives. If we were to have more economical incentive with our neighborhood to south and improve Mexican economy to a level of Canada then we probably don't have to worry about border problems ever again.
Putting up a wall sends a signal to our friend in the south. We would rather divide ourselves from them than make them wealthy like us. US-Mexican trade is a huge market. Mexico is in US top three trading partners. But we can trade more than just goods. Circular flow is the reason why city like Tijuana became so big. Letting Mexican workers prosper because of US economy can have good returns on US end. Just like how we basically have no real border with Canada, US relation with Mexico needs to grow to that level. I don't approve a complete open border. But building a border wall is dumb. Helping Mexico become a wealthy nation and moving the problem illegal immigration from Central America to Mexico is better way to handle the current situation.

So, forgive me for being ignorant, because I am genuinely confused. The argument presented here is that you shouldn't build any border infrastructure... because it would cast light on people planning to stay illegally or staying illegally, that are already in the US?
I've always thought that being able to identify a problem, helps solve the problem. The program seems to argue for 'Ignorance is Bliss'
I'm pretty sure that's not what he's saying at all. Can you point to where he says anything of the sort?
It begins at about 3:42 where they imply that the guy who forgets his keys, decides to break the law and migrate illegally because he thinks that he might not be let back in. Implying that the border infrastructure is there to prevent legal migration.
They are not saying that's what the infrastructure is *for*, they are saying it is having that effect on legal immigrants. Basically, raising the barrier of entry for legal immigration (or anything really) can cause some people to reconsider going through the process as it gets more complicated, causing them to behave illegally instead.
The point is the wall won’t even decrease illegal immigration
You're not ignorant. Or confused. Nice opening by the way, it's not like anyone hasn't used that before. In regards to the issue, I only have one thing to say: There are roughly 800,000 africans, 300,000 Europeans, and 1-2 million asian illegal immigrants living in the US. And all people care about is the "rapists' from Mexico. Try the European, who will not be suspected as an illegal and therefore will have a better time living life or even carrying out nefarious deeds. And lastly, Trump and the republicans (some don't, obviously) want to deport people. They don't want them here. They think they steal our jobs, and that is MOSTLY untrue. But as Adam said, immigration has shifted. Now the gang violence torn countries of Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala are coming. What we need to invest in (my opinion, obviously) are background checks. Immigrants that are picked up by Mexican authorities should be checked, not sent back to die or live in pain. I mean this is America. We help people.
When you finally realize that the wall would have stopped 60-80 percent of illegal crossings
Adam Ruins Reuploading
It would cost 15,000,000,000 to 25,000,000,000 dollars, but illegal imigration costs 116,000,000,000 dollars a year
I love how she called him a goblin using magic cause that's exactly what I was thinking lol
Honestly, these people advocating for a wall pretend like it's not possible to just climb over it. We live in the 21st century, we have ladders, ropes and other mechanisms to get over a wall. A wall on a house is surrounding the whole house, if you want to use that analogy then you have to say that your roof is gone, but you have four walls surrounding your house.
This comment section is gonna be interesting.
You should just walk away right now...
This aged so, so well
70 + % decrease in illegal immigration due to the wall currently being built as of right now.
I'd say that so far it's pretty successful.
The wall isn't being built lol
And when Trump in 2016 was campaigning illegal immigration was already at an all time low
@@hellofriend8432 Link to your stats, please?
@Lizardguy Stop being a child, m8.
This didn’t age well
This aged well.
Nothings changed aside from the fact we wasted a bunch of money on a useless wall. There was already a wall to begin with. It just got bigger and so did the ladders. There's also parts where the gaps are wide enough for people to just walk through. People have also simply cut chunks out of the wall to make holes in it. I heard they've even been selling chunks of it as scrap metal.

By there was alreasy a wall you mean a fence like qe have in our backyards

This wall/immigration debate inspired me to write this tune. You might like the lyric. It's called American Immigrant.
"Why Adam doesn't understand anything about immigration"
Then prove him wrong and send it to the show. They will actually use your material if it's right.
@@Skersaroony good job, you came with too good of an argument so he couldn’t respond.
I like that part where he said that talking about a border wall only prevents us from talking about real solutions, but didn't bring up any alternative solutions. Just pandered to his audience with some scary numbers about how much it would cost and that planes exist for the minority who are wealthy enough to get on one.
If Mexico were doing so well then why are so many people desperate enough to risk their lives crossing the terrain to get here?
You do realize this is just 1 part of a whole episode (as pointed out at the end of the video), right?
Colin Perhaps they risk their lives because Adam completes disregards the crime rate in Mexico? And how the police force in the the pocket of the cartel? 🤔
LOL my laser can cut a dozen doorways in any concrete wall in under 30 seconds
MExico, not every individual.
That's because this is not the full episode.
There's literally just false statements made in this. Seriously, this is just propaganda
Information is known about people who come with a Visa. There is no information on people who cross illegally on foot. Not too many boats get through on the West Coast. Tunnels are slow and expensive to build. Technology is doing a better at detecting them, even before they are finished.
@aguy654 So that other 60-70% should just be ignored then? Also a tunnel would be harder to do if it has a foundation of 6ft which is the plan. Not mention tunnel sensors would find them.
@Lizardguy The wall is still being built, most immagrants don't go around especially when they are patrolled heavily, and when the wall goes like 20 feet into the ground with concrete
The walls already there hommie
No there isn't. Only 3 miles were built. And part of the wall was destroyed
A wall would work if you installed
a machine gun nest every 100 yards
And shoot down planes with it?
Yeah... but then we run into ethics issues and then wars start
That is what the Soviets did with the Berlin wall
The Idea is to stop the problems between Israel and Palestine and not to BECOME THEM. LOL! OP must be joking or off his rocker.
@@MandalaOfThe7 that's so unethical and morally corrupted
You never explained how a wall would increase illegal immigration, Adam. The way I see it is that there is evidence to support both sides of the argument for and against a wall. To me, the current situation is simply shedding more light on how bad partisanship ego and ruthlessness kills progress. No matter which way you lean out the window, the train still isn't moving.
He literally explained it in the part about circular flow. If illegal immigrants can't return, then they'll stay.
@@Percival917 how about instead you stop them from coming with the wall because if you use his math around 70% of them would have come through the border before so a giant wall would stop them, then find a way to deport a ton of illegal immigrants.
I am a Conover, 14th direct descendant of Wolfert Gerritse Van Couwenhoven. I would like to say from the Conover clan, this foolish man does not represent us.

I remember the Berlin Wall being very effective despite that it was keeping people in but same concept , the wall in Israel also very effective , when combined with sufficient numbers of border security guards , drones , cameras etc. it can’t but drastically decrease illegal border crossings but what do we regular Joes know , we will agree with whatever CNN tells us to believe
1. Were not living in the soviet union so we can go to the us by PLANES
2. Were not living in the 1960 to 1980
