You guess right he is telling a story, Is a very touching song actually after home is interpreted into a wife's position the wife will stay home stay behind and taking care of the family and the husband will be out working, talking about they get married when they're young growing old together at one point when time comes let me go first because I cannot bear to see you cry for me 😭 is Chinese is just a different dialect !

It is part of the Min sub-family which is most divergent from the rest of the Sinitic languages, which is why they are very distinct to your ears. You are likely to understand more German from knowing English than understand more Minnan from knowing standard Mandarin.
That said this was a pretty impressive performance by coming from some who doesn't know the language, with close to perfect pronunciation. Zhou Shen is indeed very talented linguistically.

It was Chinese dialect, spoken by Fujian, Taiwan province and some Southeast Asia country Chinese like me.
