  • I got into a conversation with someone the other day and they wanted me to break down how I make shark rigs. I go into detail on what is needed, how to put it together, and explain how and why it works.

Thank you for the video. My wife and I recently started fishing for sharks and still working out the kinks. Your video was timely.

You're welcome, I appreciate the gratitude. Good luck to you both. You won't lose any with that rig.

👍👍👍 top notch mate I’m from UK 🇬🇧 that’s my rig for sharks 🦈 in Cape Verde islands…. Just a nice little thing i do different i slide shrink tubing over the haywire twist… sometimes that little spike that’s left has been nasty if it pulls into your hand with no gloves on… good video mate 😀😀👍👍

Thanks man! That's a nice addition to the haywire too. I definitely avoid grabbing the haywire twist like the plague lol
What kind of sharks do you catch over there mostly?

I’m also from the UK, came back from Boa Vista in March, going back to Boa Vista tonight. Flight is in 16 hours. Bristol, UK! Cape Verde is brilliant!

Cape Verde is mostly Black Tip Reef, Spinner, Lemon, Nurse, Hammerhead, Tiger. Not many Great Whites but still possible they will be in that area. No Bull Sharks as far as I’m aware. The above ones will be main species out there, on the African West coast, 300 miles west of Senegal 👍

Im curious, what is the Mano needed for? Can I just run wire instead? Do I need Mano?

The MONO is for shock and abrasion. Without the mono, the shark can snap the braid the wire is attached to because of the violent headshakes and jumps.

You don't set it up with a sliding sinker on the mono? I've been told that if the shark pucks it up and feels the weight it will drop the bait... thanks

@@raider6atv They could care less. Redfish will do things like that. Sharks will pick it up with a massive hook hanging out of it, obvious wire, and an 8 oz anchor holding it down. They're savages lol I've caught real small ones up to over 7 footers on that setup. It's golden. Welcome.
