No bullshit.........I am blown away, I seen (piano cover) in the titled and thought, "yeah lets see you do that". Well done, you have forever put me in my place.
Wow - thanks so much! Out of all the covers I've done, this is probably my favorite. Glad you think it is faithful to the original as well. Long live Opeth.
the bit at 2:16 sounds like one of the Terran themes from Starcraft :O And, since I mentioned that, a lot of parts from the Watershed album sound like the tristram theme from Diablo... Is Mikael Akerfeldt a secret Blizzard fanboy?
Definitely the best song on Still Life, although it's not because of the overall structure, but because of the moments. I'm not big on piano covers of most of these songs, but you still do a great job. Props!
It's fun how everybody picks a different favorite. For me the 3 bests, are in this order, The Moor, Godhead's Lament and Serenity Painted Death. But the whole album is fantastic, and I love how Benighted is a perfect transition between GL and MV. I play it non stop on the guitar
Kept warm by the light of the lantern Lost sight of everything tonight My presence blackens their pattern A pock in the healthy and calm Their scorn behind your back My promise would put them down No trace of reverence left Immemorial fire in their eyes I would perish at the given signal At the slightest touch from my soul Tainted prophet in flesh For all the plagued and lost Dripping sin Decision in stalemate Dare to feel death at hand Surprised me with its voice Through the forest came the morn Across the leafy pathway Their deeds smeared in blood For all to behold The council of the cross Must have sensed my coming The pest through the air With despise for squalor Lashing out at the poor I turned away my eyes In pallor escape from the end Fading time to leave from here And less to fulfill my task She would be safe and firm Nothing of this is in vain Taken away from stifling grace And saved from the past
Started crying at :45.
+Jeffrey Johnston 1:40 ;(
Wow, hearing a song like this performed in a different context really makes you appreciate the complexity of the songwriting. Great stuff man.
I listened to it a few years ago and came back now- I thought it was genius then and I still think so, it makes me smile, so beautiful!
I am just in shock.
I clicked on this with the intention to just listen to the intro and then listened to the whole thing. Amazing.

Wow. Epic. God mode.
Kept warm by the light of the lantern
Lost sight of everything tonight
My presence blackens their pattern
A pock in the healthy and calm
Their scorn behind your back
My promise would put them down
No trace of reverence left
Immemorial fire in their eyes
I would perish at the given signal
At the slightest touch from my soul
Tainted prophet in flesh
For all the plagued and lost
Dripping sin
Decision in stalemate
Dare to feel death at hand
Surprised me with its voice
Through the forest came the morn
Across the leafy pathway
Their deeds smeared in blood
For all to behold
The council of the cross
Must have sensed my coming
The pest through the air
With despise for squalor
Lashing out at the poor
I turned away my eyes
In pallor escape from the end
Fading time to leave from here
And less to fulfill my task
She would be safe and firm
Nothing of this is in vain
Taken away from stifling grace
And saved from the past
This is beautiful! Do you have the chords?
Subbed more Opeth please!
wow
that´s funny, the same opinion have discussed with my brother a time ago:) exactly, if opeth had a village, then it would be tristram:)
Amazing! seriously, is mikael a reincarnate of one of the old and great classical composers?
Right around the 5 minute mark the hair on the back of my neck and on my arms stood up and the chicken skin effect kicked in.
I love you
WIZARD!
Drapery falls + to bid you farewell
should have been played slower at the beginning. beautiful, thank you for sharing.
Slow down.
Wow
