The ATF have been at EVERY gun show, since the 90's. Back when you could buy an SKS for $79 and a case of ammo for $99, they were walking around the people that were buying them. They would follow us out to the parking lot. Of course they weren't wearing uniforms or have patches on their clothes. They would be in 3 piece suits. They never "shopped" for guns on the tables or looked at anything besides patrons. They're announcing it now, but they've always been there! God bless
My experience is that they are a mixture of people reselling accessories like handguards with a 20% markup mixed with old guys selling cheap flint locks/"collectibles" for $2k-$3k that are actually made in China for tens of dollars. It really is knockoff city there. I don't even see serialized guns selling here.
I go to shows just to gawk with no intention of buying. Just something I enjoy doing although I admit that occasionally something jumps off the table into my hands and screams, "Buy me!" Actually, you _can_ find a deal at a show if you shop for it and don't impulse buy and you just might find that firearm you've been craving that is sold out everywhere. You just need to know what you want, know the going price, know what you're willing to pay and be willing to pass it up if the price is too far out of line. Unfortunately, I find that few sellers are willing to haggle anymore. The best thing about buying at a show is the vintage or used firearms. You can pick them up and examine them before deciding to purchase and here you just _might_ be able to haggle just a bit.

I know people who stopped going to gun shows years ago. America has been destroyed by the Democrats and the large gun shops are particularly to blame for this.
Been to 2 in the last month in Florida- one in ft Pierce and one in west Palm. Everything is over priced, I just go to get out of the house on the weekends
Yes, I believe it was just an information booth. There were three agents there. I have a registered suppressor and I asked them what it would take to register an AR pistol to an SBR.
I stopped going to gun shows years ago. Not just because of what is discussed here. But high prices, & gouging. Plus all the non gun related "junk" being allowed in! Putting it "mildly ". Thank you.
What are they going to do. Set up an office in the gun show. Or just walk around and try to entrap someone whether it’s a dealer or individual who is sales his collection 👍🇺🇸
I've never seen any uniformed LE at any gun show I've attended in my area. (West Texas.) If they were there then they were in plain clothes. Same goes for the ATF. If they were there then they didn't make it obvious. I find it unlikely that the ATF has the manpower to surveil all the gun shows across the country - especially with a _heavy_ presence. I've purchase firearms and sundry at gun shows many times and no one has ever bothered me. I picked up a nice SKS at a show a few weeks ago, carried it around slung on my shoulder all over the show and no one gave me a second glance. Perhaps the ATF at gun shows is more akin to air marshals on passenger aircraft. They may be there, but then again they may not. You just never know unless they feel the need to expose themselves. This is going to change? Are they going to start walking around wearing windbreakers with ATF emblazoned on the back? Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't the ATF enjoy a budget cut this year? And don't forget, we don't yet know who the Director of the ATF will be in 2025, but we know that Dettelbach will be booted out on his can. If Blake Masters (or even Brandon Herrera (unlikely)) is put in charge I suspect the ATF leash will get pretty tight pretty quick. For those who want to abolish the ATF, think again. If it were abolished then some other government agency would just pick up where they left off or possibly an even more aggressively anti gun agency might be created. Better to transform the ATF from anti gun to pro 2A. Wouldn't it be nice to have a government agency on _your_ side fighting _for_ your rights?

I've noticed in Ohio that most ffls won't even do gun shows anymore because the majority of people get put on what's called delay which is 3 days but the gun show is only for 2 days so our gun shows have been cut by 70%
I've never seen any type of uniformed law enforcement at all ever at any gun shows in indiana . Almost all of them have security but no one that was openly advertizing that they were law enforcement of any type not ATF not even the city/county police
I haven't been to a gun show in years, last time I went to a gun show it was in St. Louis before we moved back home to Louisiana, been home for about 3 years now so that makes my last trip to a gun show at last 4 years ago. I remember thinking how expensive things got at the shows. You can't get a deal anymore so why bother. I can go to my local mom and pops gun store, or pawn shop and get in some cases a better deal, or at least the same pricing you get at a show.
Been to several gun shows. Only bought 1 gun and had an old guy razor sharpen my pocket knife. Every gun show ive been to wants more then anything is worth. More ATF overreach... just go after criminals ya over paid thugs.
Here in Georgia I’ve been to numerous gun shows in 4 different locations. As a customer I have never seen any ATF presence. At 2 of the smaller shows there were a couple of local police or deputy sheriffs. At the large shows there was security, but I don’t remember seeing “uniformed” police or ATF. There may very well be plainclothes people there, I don’t know. As I am not a vendor I cannot give you any info about their experiences.
i haven't been to a gun show in 2 0r 3 years the price gouging made me mad. plus it's was getting like a flee market. if i do change my mind and go to another gun show atf won't bother me either way because i won't be doing anything illegal and never have at a gun show. i miss the days when you could get so good deals at the gun shows.papa 😊
If I were a collector looking to liquidate some portion of my collection via a gun show, I would arrange to partner with an FFL who would be exhibiting at the show to run the background checks for anyone wishing to purchase one of my guns. As long as that requirement was clearly posted for anyone perusing my wares, I fail to see how that would run afoul of the ATF. Any sales would go through a legit background check, run by an FFL. Whatever financial arrangements that I might make with the FFL to provide that service would be between me, the FFL and possibly the buyer, if the expectation was that they would pay for the background check as part of the deal to buy the firearm. Or, is there something in the regulations that I am missing?
What's the point? The gun shows suck so bad these days... Do they even have guns for sale anymore? The last gun show I attended had overpriced guns and mostly junk for sale. I haven't been to one in probably 15 years... Can't say for sure.
