  • This game is almost universally known as "The Blackout." The 4-0, #8 Alabama Crimson Tide traveled to Athens, GA to face off against the 4-0, #3 Georgia Bulldogs. The previous year, Georgia had surprised their fans by wearing black uniforms against Auburn - a game which the Bulldogs won 45-20. Hoping the black uniforms would continue to bring good fortune, Georgia and its fans arranged a "Blackout" at Sanford Stadium for the 2008 showdown with Alabama.

Man o'mighty, that 1st half dominance by 'Bama was no doubt a public execution.

I laughed my ass off this entire game. Alabama just brutalized GA so bad. I knew it was gonna be a bad day for GA. #RollTide

You know what I've learned watching all the college football not just here but on other channels: from a defense standpoint, ANY catchable long ball within the realm of reasonable conditions is worth getting the 15 yard PI call on if it saves a TD. Any. Outside of normal game play conditions (2 minutes left and you're only up by 5 or 6, your opponent is driving etc.), obviously not but if it's 45-60 yards and first-and-goal...all you're doing by drawing the PI is making sure you keep your opponent to a "mere" 15 yard gain vs. 1st down inside the red zone, 1st-and-goal or a TD.
Obviously in the NFL it's a whole nother ball of wax as it is spot of the foul + 15.

Patrick Mosley That's a great moment in Bama history and a game I've been wanting to do for a long time. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the full game in anything but 240p, where you can barely tell what's happening. Thankfully, RollTide1987 has a high quality highlight video from that game: ruclips.net/video/GvphnOiGpas/видео.html
He has a great channel and access to many games that I simply can't find. His highlight videos are done in the same style as my own.

+Dear Diary The 1926 Rose Bowl, probably the most important game in Bama history. Unfortunately, I think that only a little bit of footage from that game still exists. I do have the APTV documentary about it though from I think the late 80s/early 90s - ruclips.net/video/CsyGmqpWBlc/видео.html
I also have the newsreel highlights from the 1935 Rose Bowl, another Bama vs Stanford game from a national championship season - ruclips.net/video/cgfNd-12giA/видео.html

Ik I’m a bit late, but whenever he said: This was supposed to be a blackout, it’s a public mugging instead. That right there had me rolling 8:26🤣

The more things change...the more things stay the same.

12:55 I still think God blew on that ball, I mean how the fuck does a blocked punt go forwards and not backwards.

More like the "black eye" game. Gimmicks don't work on Bama.
