How do you know someone rides a dyna? They’ll let you know 😂 I’m not as critical of the mod bandit, but I have to agree with some of your points. I’ll also openly say I feel it’s worth every bit of the $350 price tag I paid with their current special, but it would not be worth the full MSRP with the iridium shield, clear internal visor, and unlock. Not when you can get an arai or shoei for the same price. It doesn’t feel as sturdy as my ghost bandit, the internal sun visor fit is unfortunately dumb (I’ve got a small scratch on my nose from dropping it too aggressively),and with the chin curtain it is a rather interesting fit putting the helmet on and taking it off. Honestly though, once it’s on, I think it fits me perfectly, better than the ghost bandit. For reference, my Shoei RF-1200 fits like a glove as well. The noise, though. Holy shit is it loud. That is likely due to the weight/hinge mechanism. It catches really slight vibrations that translate as noise, plus you have the added chin vents. Interestingly though, I get less buffeting from this than I did with the ghost bandit. I really dig being able to lift the face of it at lights in the summer heat, and it really is light weight for a modular helmet. Plus, you know a Simpson when you see one, and the field of view of this helmet rivals goggles with a moto helmet. Having gone directly from the ghost bandit to the mod, the increased field of view is noticeably larger, but the downside is that excess will fog up, even with a pin lock. Glad you’re recognizing the shortcomings in it, though. A company won’t get better if the only reviews are singing praises, and it really would suck if someone wound up turned away from a brand I dig because of the issues.
I have one and I like it. Just thought they should give the pin lock insert instead selling them.
