Ghana has already claimed to be the source of Amapiano. One group of Ghanaians claim Amapiano is from Azonto, and another group claim it is part of highlife.
Ghanaians don't accept that cultures can have similarities. Once they hear the slightest similarity with their genre, they will claim it as their own.
Nigeria has ancestral music played with log drums that sounds exactly like Amapiano, but Nigeria hasn't tried to claim Amapiano.

Correction: "AFROBEATS" does not mean "All African Music."
The original Afrobeat is a Nigerian genre by the great Fela Kuti. Afrobeats with an "s" on the hand is a spin-off from Fela Kuti's Afrobeat. They are both Nigerian music genres.
"Afrobeats" does not mean "All African music" just because of the word "Afro." Is Fela Kuti's Afrobeat "All African music"? No! Come on, guys, have some intelligence when discussing stuff like these. You can't just add an 'S' to a word and call it a new word. Afrobeats is a plurality, not novelty. Afrobeats is a pop version of Fela Kuti's Afrobeat.
The new Afrobeats were also pioneered solely by Nigerians, and 99.9% of all Afrobeats music today comes out of Nigeria. They made it global, and it is heard all over the world. It is also globally recognized as the Nigerians' music genre.
To say that "all African music" is Afrobeats is disingenuous, disrespectful, and a disservice to our traditions and cultures, as Africans. You can not classify Fuji or Apala music, Afrobeats. For example, you can not call Congo's Saben, Rhumba, Soukous, or Mali's Cora, Diabete, or Senegalese Mbalax music, as Afrobeats You can not do that. They are not Afrobeat's genre.Just because a music or sound comes from Africa doesn't mean it is Afrobeats. Please know that there are hundreds of music genres in Africa, Afrobeats is just one of them.
R&B, Rap, Trap = USA. Afrobeats = Nigeria. Reggae/Dancehall = Jamaican. These countries have what we call "Tonal identity." Everyone who does Afrobeats must sound Nigerian because Nigeria tonal identity is universally established and recognized as such, just like that of America and Jamaica. For example, Stonebwoy must sound Jamaican to pull off doing dancehall music. If you look at it closely, Ghana has no sound identity. Drill is not Ghana's. If you like to call it Ghana drill, it is not Ghana's creation. My Hiplife is basically rapping in Twi. That is why Ghanaians struggle to do Afrobeats, and the few that do always sound Nigerian.
Highlife is a West African countries' creation. Not Ghana's. Even your own minister, Mr. Mark Okraku-Mantey alluded to this fact in many of his interviews. Please search for Nigerian highlife. Ghana is not the originator of music or highlife music, Africa. You all need to stop saying that. It is laughable for you, Ghanaians, to continue misinforming yourselves. Nigeria has over 250 ethnic groups with their own unique style of music. Nobody knows any Ghanaian musicians in Nigeria.

Whao, you must be a music schorlar. Ghanaians love to Lach into someone else's success and call it their own. Music genres develop from cultures. If you are not from that culture and you want to do the genre, you are just deceiving yourself. Afrobeat has developed over the years to represent a blend of nigerian cultures organically. That is why nobody listens to any ghanaian doing afrobeat in nigerìa becos it always sound awful. Some that have succeeded must sound nigerian., but they often fail thereafter after one successful attempt becos the culture is not embedded in them. It is like a nigerian doing country music. However we cannot stop anybody from living in self delusion. You can even believe you invented Moroccan Arabian music

@MaxwellAkuoku-oq7ux Highlife did NOT originated in Ghana. It is very sad that you people have continued to manufacture lies and feed on your lies for so long. Highlife is not Ghana's origination. It is a West African originated genre made popular by musicians across West African coastal cities entertaining the colonial masters.
I really don't know what makes you people think that you invented music. So, the areas called Nigeria did not have music before the colonial era? The people who make up the country Ghana today migrated from Nigeria. You need to go do research about tribes in Ghana and where they came from.

There are some songs in Nigeria that i don't vibe to from my tribe but i vibe to other tribes songs because something in that song caught my attention.
