Thats what makes Mass Effect better than Star Wars and Star Trek. They actually put elbow grease into designing these various alien species, with entire histories and cultures. Plus, they are beautifully designed and highly well developed, instead of cheaply looking human.

I love almost all of the Mass Effect species equally. I especially love how unique all of them look, and how every one has their own sound (in terms of voice. Instead of Leviathan this list should have included the Reapers as a whole. From Sovereign to Harbinger to Leviathan to the entire invasion force...they are ridiculously badass And don't tell me it's because they are more machine than life, they contain more life than the Geth do.
i absolutly love the quarians/geth. i love figuring out their history throughout the games. like tali mentioned, because of the suits they have to be very discriptive of their feelings and most are just plain honest and upfront. i wouldn't mind finding out more about the volus and other races that have been mentioned less, since i'm curious. i know quarians are probably the least 'badass' race, but i still love em to bits :3

I understand how they're created and what they are, and that they probably wouldn't fit the technical definition of a species/race. But look where we are, a WatchMojo list that boils down to nothing more than a superficial popularity contest that cares little for such technicalities. I know. It's strange that the option to make peace between two races who have been at war with each other can only be achieved through a renegade option and rallying the fleet to completely destroy the Geth is paragon. The Geth consensus dos nothing wrong, it was all the heretics.
Man, they went pretty deep with the science here. That's perhaps the thing I like the most about the franchise, how believable everything seems, and Sci-fi rarely gets so deep with the science behind the things.
I think the Drell were really underrepresented in all 3 games. I can't think of any notable ones other than Thane (who is my second favourite character behind Garrus). I really wish Bioware gave them more attention which I hope they do in ME4.

The whole "first human spectre" storyline doesnt really work if you play as an Asari though. Do you expect them to do ten completely diffrent storys? That would cost ten times more and nobody would pay 600$ for a game

Protheans got as far as they did (pre-Reaper war) because of their psychokinetic ability, reading objects. It probably allowed them to jump in understanding technology of the Reapers rather quickly. Shame the game didn't cover these details so well.
The order makes sense, as the second half are aliens who are not as numerous and rarely seen, while the top five are the most powerful races and races that make up the most plot significance. The Quarrians and the Krogan as the top 2 makes sense as their storylines effect the plot a lot.

I just love the mass effect universe,especially the pre reaper war universe in mass effect 2.I remember i was in 9th standard when i got my hands on mass effect 2,i was found the first level to be very generic but as i continued playing i realized this was no ordinary game.I used to come from my school and tutions and used to play mass effect 2 for around 3 hours per day,doing 2-3 missions.I just fell in love with game,the different races,the awesome omega,the afterlife club,everything about the game was perfect.Even the music in omega was so perfect.The universe felt really alive.

I love the quarians as much as the next fan, but I feel like they have to lose a few points for essentially just being a copy of the humans of battlestar galactica
Coincidentally, I just started replaying the Mass Effect series when this came out.
Glory to the Quarians
1. Turian

3. Rachni
4. Quarians
Then come Drell and Salarian and so on
I choose them because of the characters in Game. Like Garrus and Wrex. I dont would made such an top 10 ... i would mostly count what i like the most of the races.
I loved Wrex and Garrus team in every mission on mass effect 1. I never changed it but have already more then 100 hours on it xD
The Rachni was completly underrated in my opinion and i always must saved her or like in ME2 just got a message ... LAME! I wanted to see her so bad and how she evolved.

Protheans got as far as they did (pre-Reaper war) because of their psychokinetic ability, reading objects. It probably allowed them to jump in understanding technology of the Reapers rather quickly. Shame the game didn't cover these details so well.

There is ALWAYS a Orc/Krogan race.
The order makes sense, as the second half are aliens who are not as numerous and rarely seen, while the top five are the most powerful races and races that make up the most plot significance. The Quarrians and the Krogan as the top 2 makes sense as their storylines effect the plot a lot.
If WatchMojo put Humans at number one I would've lost my shit, they're the least interesting part of the entire franchise. Never liked any of the human teammates.
My top 3 favorites: 1. Turians 2. Quarians 3. Is hard to choose, but I may just pick Asari.

I just love the mass effect universe,especially the pre reaper war universe in mass effect 2.I remember i was in 9th standard when i got my hands on mass effect 2,i was found the first level to be very generic but as i continued playing i realized this was no ordinary game.I used to come from my school and tutions and used to play mass effect 2 for around 3 hours per day,doing 2-3 missions.I just fell in love with game,the different races,the awesome omega,the afterlife club,everything about the game was perfect.Even the music in omega was so perfect.The universe felt really alive.

There also was this pitiful Asari businesswoman on Illium in ME2 that lost both of her daughters in the attack on the Citadel (one of which was the assistant of the Consort - that you meet at the entrance) and was bragging about how much she hated other species.
