Should you wear gloves? I'm an esthetician, and esthetics 101 is Universal Precautions. Simply put, this means you have to treat every client as though they had a blood transmittable disease. So yes you should wear gloves. I use a comedone extractor. I lost my first one and went to a beauty supply store for a replacement. I asked the employee, and she said she's never heard of a comedone extractor. I found it in the skin care section and showed her what it is. When I was a teenager and had a pimple, I would ask my mom to pop it for me. She would send me to get two Kleenex, wherever in the house they could be found. I wondered why she wanted the Kleenex. Maybe for sanitary reasons, but knowing my mom, she was a crafter, spending all day in her easy chair and she didn't want to get up and wash her hands after.

Also, a tool that looked like the end of a large safety pin & black plastic tweezers (both unsterile? most likely unless they were an RN) You compiled some home??? videos. Are these examples of what NOT to do? They grossed me out. All I saw was infection! The medical ones were great. Although, were the ones with gloves that fitted too large medical? or were they taken from popping videos... (And) popping a cystic nodule without gloves is really unhygienic for both popper and victim. Who compiled this? Certainly not a doctor. Sorry, you should have chosen better.

IMHO gloves and extraction tools should be used in all cases whenever possible in order to prevent spread if infection. Tools should be sanitized.
