Hey! Just wanted to clarify something really quickly.
My apologies for not sharing my reaction to both the Maddy and Nate scene, and the Nate and Jules scene. When I record these I am watching the episode for the first time and sometimes will miss a great scene to react to because I’m engaged and processing it internally. I will work on that!
I will be going over what I think about these two scenes in the beginning of the next episode because after processing I do have a lot to say!
This episode was a very emotional one for me. How did you feel about it? ❤
Thank you for all your kind comments on last weeks video. I hope by helping you understand these characters a bit more, I can help you understand yourselves and the people in your life. I am SO glad that you exist.

I just finished binge watching all of your videos on euphoria season 2 and I can just say I am so grateful for you creating such great content. I have a therapy appointment tomorrow and I feel like euphoria and especially your reactions have made me realize so much about myself and my own actions that I will be able to work on and discuss with my therapist. So thank you. Also at the end when you talked about having the ability to get help and the issue with putting financial aspects over people's health, I got so emotional. Because I just remembered the moment when I realized that I needed help. I imagined what I would have been like to be seeking for help (crying out for help on the inside) and getting denied that because of financial reasons. It's almost to painful to imagine and I know that sounds dramatic but I'm not lying. It's just so unfair.

In the scene where rue calls ali to apologize and he accepts it, he says “Because the Hour is certain to come, so we must forgive graciously”. It’s just one line but holds so much meaning.
Ali is Muslim. In Islam, we believe that on the day of judgement (the hour) that everyone that owes someone a debt will have to repay it in the equivalent of good deeds. It can be material, but more often than not it’s emotional as well, i.e you take the good deeds of someone who wronged you terribly.
So what Ali was basically saying was: I’m forgiving you now because I don’t want you to face such a thing in the afterlife. Small line, incredible depth.

Its interesting because the themes of being a good or bad person keep coming up throughout the season over and over. @@sashaya998 every person on this show has done egregious things. And every person has a reason and or root of why they make the choices they do. Maddy has done unspeakable things in the name of love and loyalty for Nate. It doesn’t take away from that fact that he manipulated the shit out of her constantly. The same can be said for Cassie depending on what angle you’re looking at it from. These are children who are experiencing things that are generally very adult, but they’re very young people nonetheless. Mistakes will happen and bad choices will be made. Every one needs therapy. And Cassie doesn’t need to come back from anything. It’s ok tor friendships to end. It’s ok if things don’t work out or if Maddy can’t forgive her. She has her whole life to improve and learn and grow. Every one does. When it comes to Maddy and Cassie, the situation is sad and unfortunate. But a lot of factors come into play in regards to the how’s and why’s for both of them.

Marsha says around 8-9 he started “turning dark”, so idk what else could have happened to make Nate the way he was. Idk. It gives me a feeling of alluding to some other traumatic thing happening to Nate. Also, interesting that Marsha sees that “she would keep the baby out of spite” - idk, maybe she’s projecting? In my country we have free healthcare, and eventhough it may have its flaws, it works pretty well and they definetly not deny health assistance to anyone. Ever. When someone’s going through health issues the last thing they need is to worry about wether they can pay for the treatment or not, or if the insurance is going to cover it. @@Natsymir right, I think what many people fail to realize is that these problems are attributable to the complications of providing healthcare in general, and that Americans experience the same things but are just paying a shit ton to get slow, limited services. It took my aunt 2 months to get an appointment for a mastectomy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she has health insurance. Psychiatric medicine especially has long wait times, and many psychiatrists don't even take insurance so that's the result of a privately funded system.

I really really appreciate you saying that anger is healthy and justified. As someone who experienced a lot of violence growing up - my anger protected me. It kept me ALIVE. And it makes me feel very frustrated and not listened to when people say I have to let go of that anger in order to heal. Anger at the way I was treated is what drives me to address my trauma and make sure I don't pass it on to another child, the way my family did to me.

i'm so glad you addressed that ending so seriously. As someone who has dealt with a family member with VERY similar addictions to Rue, this ending was very real. My family was denied by insurance sooooo many times or told to just "take them to urgent care" or just "send them to a halfway house facility" when that wasn't what we needed in the situation at all. Drug treatments are INSANELY expensive and without help from insurance companies it can be a huuuge burden on families who are already dealing with severe trauma.

Hey!! I would really appreciate if you could go a little bit more in-depth on Cassie's behavior post-Rue tea spilling. As I was watching the episode I thought she was rationalizing her behavior (sleeping with Nate) due to the cognitive dissonance it caused about her ideal self (being a good person and Maddy's best friend). Cassie knew she was doing something wrong because Nate told her so many times and she herself was afraid of Maddy finding out. I think she was trying to convince her family because if they believed she did nothing wrong that would mean she is still a good person, that's why she is trying so hard. I also think that there is something on Cassie yelling at her mom about not having any self respect when her mother said nothing of the sort, I think Cassie is exposing how she feels and because she feels guilty and isolated she is retaliating by accusing people of seeing her how she sees herself.
P.S: I love your channel, it is super fun to see how you apply stuff I learn in class to media I consume as a hobby.

  • @Lucifronz
    @Lucifronz 2 года назад +9

Minor correction: Cassie knows what she did was wrong. She's just trying to justify it so she doesn't have to feel guilty anymore. The whole time she was panicking while it was hidden was because she *knew* it was wrong and she was betraying her friend. She cried over it when she nearly got caught in the bathroom with Nate.

Love that I found ur YT. Not a therapist but one correction @10:00 mins. In season 1 the show says nate was 11 when he found/saw his dad‘s video. When Nate’s mom mentions he randomly changed she says he was 7 (ish) . When cal left a few episodes ago and took the family portrait we see 3 boys… Nate has a younger bro that we haven’t seen! I’m so into this show lol…. I’m thinking, & cause of hints, Nate did something to his little bro out of anger/ jealousy, blocked it out or made it looked his lil bro had an accident & his fam help but have know the truth and don’t bring it up to Nate … they known about his anger issue, his mom knows he really did strangle maddy but tip toes around it b/c of his anger prob. Cal prob thought Nate will grow out of it & now feels guilt, he wasn’t the best dad but now he sees how Nate is really far gone.

Thank you so much for your compassion and dedication! It’s obvious that this isn’t just a job for you and that you want to help anybody to needs any kind of support. I think your videos are incredibly important, especially when it comes to a show like Euphoria. The show is so big yet there are so many important lessons to be learned from it. There’s just so much trauma and conflicting emotions involved when it comes to the characters and their behaviour and I think a lot of times people will just dismiss characters as bad people without thinking twice about it. And I think a lot of people who watch the show shouldn’t even do so because despite the fact that something is shown clearly on screen and we have Rue as a narrator, they will still interpret something in the complete opposite way, which I think is pretty harmful.
But it’s always so crucial to reflect why characters are the way they are or why they keep engaging in problematic behaviour. It doesn’t mean it can be excused but we should all at least have empathy to understand where they’re coming from. We’re all flawed human beings and a lot of times haven’t been given the tools to understand, reflect and judge our own behaviour because as a society we still don’t prioritise mental health and the conversation around it.
So thank you for all of your work and the monologue at the end 🥲

I really love watching your reactions. It helps me understand things I never did before, including in myself.
I haven’t had substance abuse issues but I do have several chronic illnesses that force me to take narcotics as well as other medications not available to the general public. They’re not fun for me at all, in fact I’ve had terrible side effects to most medications I’ve been prescribed (been undergoing medical treatment since late 2016) and have to deal with the side effects every day because there is nothing else that can be done for me. As a result of this, it is difficult for me to understand why someone would use these substances to help them “feel better” so to speak. Hearing you go into so much detail based on your personal and professional experiences helps me understand something I alone could not.
What I do understand is fighting with insurance carriers for proper health care. It’s amazing that you prioritize care and not profit. Most medical professionals don’t - in my experience. In fact, the medical professionals I’ve had contact with lack empathy as well. So it is so good to see that SOMEONE cares and does their part.
I really appreciate you and all the work you do. I hope to see more from you in the future.

She is such a hypocrite, considering her past actions which led her to marry Cal, needless to say. media is also a good way to discuss really specific and personal stuff without violating the privacy of real patients or talking about celebrities. To me psychology as therapy is about becoming your best self. That means that everyone is entitled to therapy and that everyones feelings are valid, whether you need it to deal with trauma or get treatment or if you just need a leg up because you are not being your best self or you wanna push yourself to be your best self. The worst thing you could ever do is to discourage people from asking for help regardless of how big or littler their issues are. Everyone internalizes stuff differently.

I'm new to your channel & I'm so glad I found it! I think, no I know what a wonderful, kind, compassionate person you are! The public really needs someone like you and I'm sure you help many many people. I was recently approved for SSDI/SSI for my mental health & am currently waiting on my retro benefits. I don't have a drug problem but have known many people/friends/friends daughters who have died from an overdose after they get out of rehab. It really affects everyone in that person's life, so sad. I thank God every day my 4 kids, all adults don't have any substance abuse issues, I wish I could do more for people. I'm so glad Euphoria is on television, it truly is a magnificent show with so much talent & truth. I hope others get the help they need from it and watching you react to it has been very emotional, illuminating & educational. Thank you for all YOU do! ❤️🧡💜💙

I love these breakdowns you do. Since euphoria is almost over, would you consider doing another show? Love is blind season 2 is on, and I’d love a mental health professional’s opinion on the hot mess that is that show.
