This is the first one where it feels wholesome. I love it, dark animation is just so cool and doesn’t always have to be depressing. (Not to say the other ones aren’t good, they are amazing.) I resonate with this animation a lot rn cause I was at my most depressed state earlier this year (kinda still am) but then I found someone who really helped me and I hope my relationship with them blossoms.
I felt that Oh… also felt a bit more happy, because the character feels like they know that they aren’t hurt, but have been patched up by the people around them, and when the cast frees to see that nothing is wrong, it feels good I think.
I love how everyone comes up with their own little ways to interpret I Can’t Sleep’s videos, so here’s my interpretation of this one. Our main protagonist we see in the other vids, Nia, is given a red rose. The person who gives it to her is not seen, but I see it as someone who understands the turmoil that Nia goes through and possibly wants to be with her. The creepy flash we see at the 15-second mark could represent her brain telling her to refuse the mysterious person’s offer(s), fearing they might be an evil person. Later, we see the rose being drained of its colours, soon becoming black and white, and Nia’s colours have changed to red & black. My interpretation of that is she was able to find love even while much of her life has been pretty much hell, and that she may have found someone who will probably help her. The symbolism to me seems pretty apparent, especially when further contextualized by the short titled 4U which depicts the exact opposite of what we see here. However, we still love those dark variations of the main character's deaths under mysterious circumstances and/or due to some psychological troubles.
Interesting... In 4U they putted all their love and happiness onto a bucket leaving only with a hollow husk, an empty heart. But here they get gifted their happiness back filling it to the brim again, giving their joy again. This is kinda wholesome if you stop to think!

i’m so happy to have stumbled upon these videos and i really appreciate the artstyle. this is how i wish i could draw ever since i was a kid growing up in the late 2000s lol. the nature of this and the almost sacred format with this art style and combination of themes can only be a result of a true admiration for this era of edgy/dark internet art. these videos have a feel that you would’ve stumbled upon them on someone’s blog or a broken flash based site with a black background and spooky site features. i can picture myself sitting and waiting for the embed video to load and greet me with the piercing silence these shorts utilize so effectively, fueling the sense of dread leading up to the twist

I believe its something sad. if you notice, when Nia gets the rose from the hooded figure(which I assume its someone who gave her trauma) it sort of "hurts" and she suddently regains her collar(which I believe represents losing freedom). in a previous animation happiness was represented as the colour of the rainbow, here the colour is RED which makes me think it represents anger. So I think this animation shows that the hooded figure was someone Nia looked up to and loved, the hooded figure pretended to love her(gave her a rose) and betrayed her, that's why the rose hurts, which causes her trauma losing her freedom(gaining the collar). I have a theory that Nia involved herself in a relationship with someone who used and abused her explaining some of the previous animations.
I keep getting those animations recommend and I just want to thank you for making them. I don't know what is the reason I like them so much but this is really not important. They are just really awesome and I just wanted to thank you. I wish you the best.
